Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI think the property has been neglected for a long time and it is not very impressive. We stayed on the 3rd floor so it was very hot and I didn't feel comfortable there due to the bed bug reviews I saw. We had the wrong keys left for us so we had to wait for the host for over an hour as we didn't want to leave our rooms unlocked, all the keys are just left in a plant pot.. I came with my own sheets from home and my own towels and I'm glad I did, it is good value for money as the 4 of us paid around £68 each for 2 nights but I'd rather pay a little more and stay somewhere nicer.
Location was good as it is right next to the Shadwell station

AustraliaThe flat was a disgrace - it was not cosy or luscious! I was sent three different messages with three different sets of instructions - none of which were right! Front door was unlocked, rubbish greeted us to the left hand side. As we entered the building there was an old mattress, push bikes and rubbish on the floor. Keys were supposed to be left out for flat 6 room 4. None to be found! Opened the door with the key code but not able to lock afterwards. The shared bathroom was a disgrace - hair all over the floor and wet towels scrunched up on the basin. We chose not to stay and headed to the Novotel Canary Wharf. Walked around the streets for just under two hours trying to get to the Novotel. Have stayed here for three nights at a higher rate which was not in our budget. I would stay there or recommend it to anyone

United Kingdom- paid for a flat with a private bathroom but it was a shared bathroom - very dodgy area and the building stank like garbage - found a BED BUG in the bed and had to spend the night on the street as a solo female traveler.
I love how booking.com allowed these people to scam me then failed to get me a refund and failed to help me in any way on that night

AustraliaOvercrowded- at one stage there were ELEVEN people staying in the property and sharing a single bathroom. The shower was faulty. Please take care of it. The toilet was clogged and we needed to use a plunger to remedy it. The washing machine leaked over the kitchen floor which created a slipping hazard. The walls were thin and we could hear people within the property and outside as well. The lift was not functional and the stairwell reeked of urine and cigarettes.

AustraliaWe did not get a deluxe double bedroom with ensuite as advertised. The lift was not working on our arrival & other times & we were on the 3rd floor. The place was filthy. No sheets or pillow slips on the bed. False advertising!!! Shared bathroom which was dirty & the shower nozzle over the bath was broken. Felt very unsafe on a strongly populated Muslim community.

United KingdomFalsely advertised and the hosts don’t message back.
They lied about the disabled access. My wife is disabled and the only lift that was provided was broke. They are now refusing refund even though I had to book a whole new property and have proof of the broken lift. I’m now having to go down the legal route to get my money back. I went upstairs to see if I could find someone to explain the situation and the room was disgusting. The photos are nothing like what the property looks like. It’s very dated and the bed sheets looked about 40 years old. The shows snd kitchen ware also a disgrace. I went back downstairs and just booked another place straight away and told my wife even if you could get up there I wouldn’t let you stay in that place. The hosts have terrible communication too. Had no reply at all about the situation and having to keep going through booking.coms customer service so will have to take this to a small claim court.

United KingdomDO NOT BOOK. This property is filthy and an absolute health hazard. When we made the booking in January it was a new listing and had a higher rating, by the time it came to staying the reviews had tanked to 4.1. I had tried to cancel but Booking completely ignored me. We left and had to book another accommodation as we didn't want to get ill .
Nothing, this property is FALSE ADVERTISING. I actually tried to contact Booking several times prior to the date of my reservation to complain but they have never gotten back to me.

CanadaFrom the moment you open the front door of the building, it was smelly and gross. Very filthy and not maintained. The elevator doesn’t work and stairs are so narrow you can barely carry your suitcase up the 3 floors to the suite. The ad was very unclear as we thought there was a private bathroom and kitchen but both are shared. The unit is one room with two crummy beds. No fans and no AC so was very hot and uncomfortable. The unit was filthy too with water stains on the ceiling. Upon entry, we were given the wrong entry code so thankfully it wasn’t 1:00am when we were checking in or we would have had to sleep on the floor outside. The host did respond with the correct code within 20 minutes or so.
The location, although a bit dodgy feeling was really close to the Tube station which was convenient. Also a close walk to restaurants and groceries etc.

Costa RicaThis place was horrible. With the simple fact that the beds are riddled with bed bugs. They're all over the rooms. It's an infestation that several other people staying at the place shared with us. Even when they were switched rooms they found the same problems. They were all over the walls, sheets, pillows, and more. We're still in contact with booking as we will be reporting this property to local authorities and demanded a full refund as we had to book a last minute room because we could not stay any longer in this place.

United KingdomThere was no mention of it being a shared bathroom. The place had been cleaned but to a poor standard. I saw a review the morning we were due to arrive that said about bed bugs, but we chose to give the place a fair chance and unfortunately, since our stay, my arms are covered in bed bug bites, now I'm having to fully gut my house and car to make sure I haven't brought them home. Entrance was really grubby to the room. I wouldn't choose to stay again. The photo attached was when the bites first started to show they are worse and more have shown as the day went on.

PolandThe room was full of bed bugs. After reporting the problem to the manager they changed the room to another one that also had bed bugs. After reporting the problem, luckly, we got the insect spray from staff. Rooms, bathroom, kitchen dirty. The fridge smelled from a mile away. I would be ashamed to host anyone there.

United KingdomThis accommodation was nothing like what was advertised when I purchased it. I booked a room with a private bathroom and private kitchen and after reading some reviews stating this was not the case I contacted them to confirm. They got back to me about 7 days later confirming that this information was incorrect and I did in fact have a private bathroom and kitchen. When I arrived this was not the case and I had a shared bathroom and kitchen with around 3 other rooms. Additionally the bathroom was so dirty as well the stairs to the property being lined with rubbish all the way up and a funny smell. The door to the balcony was also broken so it was constantly open. We had to find other accommodation last minute as this was not liveable, even for three nights.

United KingdomI booked this as it said cosy and luxurious with private bathroom. I found out it was a shared bathroom. The two towels provided were old and washed out. There was no drawer knobs on the chest of drawers. The duvet was old and tired. Door handle was falling off. Kitchen bin was filthy,. The kitchen was also shared with residents who lived there. The window wouldn't close at night and was wide open so room was cold and noisy. This is the worst place I've stayed in.

United KingdomThe entrance to the property was very run down and not inviting at all. Looks like you’re in the wrong place. Go up to level 3 where you’re greeted by the host in room 6. When we arrived they were still cleaning which wasn’t a problem at all. The room is much smaller than anticipated. Advertised as cosy and luxurious this property is far from that. All shared facilities. I did enquire about this previously as the booking stated private bathroom and when I asked about this prior to arriving they said it was a shared bathroom and I told them the only reason for booking is because it was a private bathroom and they said they will let the team know. It still states private bathroom on the advert now. We literally arrived and then maybe after 30-60 minutes we decided to leave and check out. Whilst leaving the room a member of staff came out asking us if we were checking in or checking out and we said we checked in but we’re checking out as it wasn’t as described and not for us. He asked where the key was and we told him in the room as per instructions on check out. He said to talk to booking.com and when we asked to do what he said I don’t know then the door got shut in our faces. We rang booking.com after we got new accommodation and after the phone call I checked my emails as they said they will keep up us updated and one of my emails said that we refused the resolution they offered us. We were never offered a resolution as above we got told to go to booking.com and that was it. The bathroom which is meant to be cleaned 2-3 times a day is not clean there are hairs in the bath and all on the floor. The room was also very cold even when the thermostat was turned up. There is also a train line pretty much attached to the building so this can be very noisy. I would not recommend this place and I would advise to read the reviews and double check everything before booking.
