How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Had to climb out window one morning because door was jammed. Owner tried their best to help. Room super super small and no where to really put stuff. No where to actually eat the food you cook so had to eat on our bed. Other guests were quite loud late at night so harder to sleep

It's a room in an apartment in a block of flats. Moldy corners and windowsill, non-working blinds (we had to use a chair to tie the rope to it), too hard pillows, dusty surfaces, the temperature of the water in the shower is unstable, light is dim in the room and the toilet, unpleasant smell in the elevator. The smell from the street was incredibly horrible, so we were forced to spend the night in the heat with the windows closed.

The place was filthy when we arrived and despite what the owner says, someone does not clean daily. Otherwise THE DEAD BIRD ON THE BALCONY would not be there. Rooms were small and hot with no air con OR FANS WHICH ARE IN THE LISTING. Beds were hard and uncomfortable making it hard to sleep. Also super unhelpful owner as well. When I raised the complaints above I was told to "Please stop complaining for no reason" so for the love of god, do not stay here or you will regret it

Verified reviewThe location was perfect for a meeting i had the next day. The owner of the flat was very helpful via Whatsapp when the key was not in the location as advised in the email
The bathroom and kitchen we very untidy on arrival. The room was VERY basic. The bed base was broken on one side and the blind above the bed was not operational so had to sleep with it half open all night. The room was very hot and no fan was supplied. I booked a room with a balcony, however I could not get on to the balconey due to large amounts rubbish stored on it!

Verified reviewI had such a great experience during my stay! The place was extremely clean and well-maintained, which made me feel comfortable and at home right away. The location is perfect close to everything I needed, with easy access to public transport, shops, and restaurants. The host was very responsive and helpful, always available to answer any questions or assist with anything I needed. It really made a difference knowing that support was just a message away. But what truly made the stay special were the amazing people I met during my time there. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming it created a really warm and positive atmosphere. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for comfort, convenience, and a welcoming environment!

Boiling hot. Said aircon, no aircon or even a fan. Got questioned about why I'd left the bathroom in a way before I used it, confusion about me being with another group. Fridge was also off when I arrived - during the heatwave. Was told a fan would arrive by the landlord, it never did and I got no explanation from the landlord, lift often breaks.

The rooms did not look like they were in the pictures. Basically it looks like you would be living in someone's dirty and dusty flat. The street and house outside look creepy with no proper street lights. I am an experienced traveler but this surprised me, not positively. No signs on how to find the accommodation, only the owner's message through booking with pictures of the house. As a solo female traveler, I didn't feel safe, left the place after 15 minutes and found another accommodation nearby. Probably I won't get any refund as the money was already paid before the journey. Avoid at all costs.
