How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was cheap.
The hotel smelt of smoke and alcohol apon arrival, then we were escorted to our room, the hotel appeared super outdated, alot of stuff was broken, including the bed we slept in, the bathrooms were mouldy, it has perminant residents who spent the night on the phone until 1am screaming and shouting, lots of banging and also smoking cannibis inside their room, we ended up calling the manager around 130am. The overall stay was terrible, never again! Duvets and pillows were stained and discoloured.

Verified reviewStaff was quick to respond to requests and very helpful when one of the family members was ill.
While in a great location, the rooms themselves are a little old.

Verified reviewWas clean, good location, nice, helpfull owner, he gave us a fan and let to leave luggage in the building before and after check-in
Building is old and unrenovated, people walking and talking in the building disturbed our sleep, was hot and stuffy in a room, you can't open a window for the night because there were only a balcony doors opening onto the street

Verified reviewI loved it It was everything I could Wish for: good location and cheap! And you get what you pay for... That is what every person with a brain should understand. The Bed was a death trap. Room old and dirty. But: cheap and Good location was what I wanted and Thats what I got. Stayed 2 nights.
You must check in before 23.30, or they charge 20 GBP extra. Was a bit stressful for me.

Verified reviewWas waiting outside of the hotel for less than an hour, before we were finally let in. Eventually we were let in, we told him the name the booking was under and he said there were no more double rooms. So we were taken to a room with 2 twin beds where we had to join the beds together, which was quite inconvenient. The bathroom was shared per floor and it was clean for the most part except the uncleaned skid marks in the toilet.

Verified reviewLocation is great, check in was super easy - we got pre-checked in and got our luggage early, which was later sent to our room when it was ready. Communication was easy.
Have in consideration the building is old, so there are some things that can be really changed without a serious reconstruction (to be fair, based on comments of other reviews). There are wooden floors and old style walls that are wavy and cranky. Others could use some quick upgrade - especially replacing stuff that is broken, fixing tiles, walls, etc. If you just want a central place to sleep, you can't really beat this place for the price, though.

Verified reviewThe staff were very friendly from the get go. The beds were also incredibly comfortable.
The shared bathroom, the mouldy wall at the end of the bed and the decor was quite outdated and in poor state of repair.

Verified reviewLocation was nice
The room was too small. I haf to share a bathroom with other guests This review states it was for 2 nights. This is not correct. This was for one night. I had a previous booking for 5 nights. Because if this error in the booking dates, I was charged for two nights. Therefore, I was charged twice for the night if 7-30 25. I would appreciate it if you viator would check into this. Also, I would take this hotel off your list of hotels for london. it is not a good hotel. Have your people been to the Albany Hotel to inspect it there carpets in the steps are thread bare on the edges. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone,!!

Verified reviewThe only thing I liked was the location very close to subway or tube stations
The room was very small. I had to go downstairs to a shared bathroom. This was not mention in the viator website when I booked the tour. The staff did not provide clean towels and additional soap for the one bathroom we used. He told us to use a different bathroom. VIATOR HAVE YOU VISITED THIS PLACE?? I DO NOT KNOW HOW YOU CAN OUT IT ON YOUR WEBSITE AS A RESPECTABLE HOTEL IN LONDON. FINALLY, I BOOKED 5 ROOMS FURST IN MARCH 2025. THE PRICE WAS APPROXIMATELY 530 POUNDS. THEN I BOOKED A. ADDITIONAL ROOM ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER. I DO NOT REMEMBER THE EXACT ABOUT GIR THE BOOKING. BUT I FIGURED UT WAS AROUND THE SAME PRICE PER NIGHT AT AROUND 106 POUNDS. WELL ANY WAY, VIATOR SENT ME TEXTS THAT THE PRICE FOR THE ADDITIONAL ONE NIGHT BOOKING WAS 238 POUNDS OR $300. I WAS SHOCKED AT THIS. THIS HOTEL IS NOT WIRTH 60 POUNDS AFTER STAYING HERE. I CHECKED THE WEBSITE ON VIATOR FOR A NIGHT AT THIS HOTEL AND THE PRICE WAS 77 POUNDS FOR THEIR SMALL ROOM AND $107 POUNDS FIR THEIR DELUXE FAMILY ROOM. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE PRICING OF THIS ROOM FOR HGE ADDITIONAL BOOKING. I WILL BE CHALLENGING THE PAYMENT FOR THIS HOTEL IN MY VISA CARD WHEN I GET HOME FOR THE 238 POUNDS I WAS CHARGED.

Verified reviewNothing, everything was under par
The carpets were in extremely poor condition, the bathroom was unhygienic, and the bed and linens were not suitable for use in any reputable hotel. It's difficult to understand how a place like this receives approval from the relevant authorities. Unfortunately, I must say this establishment is not fit to accommodate guests.
