Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo complaints about anything.
The historic building. The amenities. The community around it and the close proximity to both rivers and Vieux Lyon.

United KingdomGreat location, right opposite the river (although you can’t see it from the apartment) good instructions and communication from the hosts before and during my stay. The apartment is full of character in an old building, very secure. No lift, just steps(2nd floor) would definitely book again. Close to lots of restaurants and bars

United KingdomWe didn't like the noise and smell from the restaurant below.
Great location on the Presqu'île, within walking distance of everything. The kitchen had everything we needed – we were glad of the Nespresso machine – and there were bedside tables and charging points on both sides of the bed. Good recommendations from the host about where to meet: Le Mercière was wonderful.

United StatesThe apartment wasn’t spotless when I checked in, particularly the bathroom. The shower doesn’t have a proper door and tends to flood the bathroom a bit. I couldn’t figure out the lights in the stairwell and it gets very dark at night, so bring your phone! The apartment is over a Michelin-starred restaurant, which means there are smells at all hours of the day, for better and worse.
Fantastic location on the quai near the old town and a metro stop. Beautiful apartment, old world charm, spacious with a modern bathroom and big comfortable bed.

United KingdomLack of view from apartment but only a minor point.
Excellent location for local bars and restaurants as well as the old town. The apartment is also comfortable and full of character. It is also very close to the bus and metro network so getting around Lyon was easy. Phillipe also maintained contact throughout the stay and was always available for queries. Would highly recommend the boulangerie a few doors away and Beer O'Clock across the bridge in the old town

Fantastic location to visit the sights of Lyon and right next to the evening eating streets. Air con was great and allowed some respite from the heat of the day. The apartment had everything you need in one place. Nice touches like coffee capsules, ice tray, fan etc.. a great stay and nice and quiet. Very helpful in terms of getting in and making sure we were ok.

South AfricaEntrance to the flat is a bit dark, and looks dirty. TV did not work. But we stayed 1 night so it didn't matter.
Flat is right in the old town. Very close to restaurants and cafes. Nice touch with the coffee machine and capsules.

AustraliaWe did not find out where the hallway lights were until the last evening, so a notice telling people where they are (include a photo), as we thought it was the buzzer for the apartments on each floor. The bathroom fan does not turn off for 30 minutes after turning the light off, so it is quite noisy while trying to sleep.
Precise instructions including pictures of how to access the apartment. Fabulous position close to everything, especially the restaurants behind the building the apartment was in. Supermarket in the same street.

IrelandIt would be great if the fan for the bathroom was separate to the light as it goes on for a bit too long after you turned it off. Grand during the day but annoying if you need bathroom during the night. Maybe a plug in night light in the bathroom might solve it.
Apartment major plus is the location, perfect. It’s in an old building and like people say stairs can be dark but there are lights just keep an eye out. Kitchen was great, lots of coffee pods which were lovely treat. I would definitely liked more hanging space but we managed fine. Mattress very comfortable. Philippe was a great host and was very responsive to any questions we had. I would definitely stay again if back in Lyon.

AustraliaI don't have a problem with stairs generally but I happened to have an awkward bag with me this stay so it was a bit difficult getting it up the two flights of stairs and the stairs are quite old and worn so I felt I might slip. Without the luggage though, they were fine. It did take me a bit to figure out the lighting for the stairs at night as it's quite dark without the lights. There were some recent building works which was affecting the reception on the tv so I ended up having to message Philippe for help to figure out how to get Netflix to work
The location was ideal, very easy walking distance to everything and the room was perfect for a short stay. It was easy to get into, the instructions were very clear and Philippe was very responsive. It's a great setup and had everything I needed.

Fantastic location. Philippe was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and had everything needed for a good stay. I really appreciated the air conditioner that had just been installed- it is a bit noisy but it doesn’t need to run for long to cool down the space.
