How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location and friendly staff. Nicely decorated and comfortable room.
There was a little bit of noise from the bar below but they closed quite early.

Verified reviewMy second stay so I knew what to expect. Amazing location on the main square, virtually anything you could want food or drink wise less than a minute’s walk away. The staff are nice and friendly, although checking in was interesting as the staff at that time didn’t speak a word of English.
It’s not a complaint, just an observation for other potential visitors. The different flights of stairs up to the three floors are VERY narrow and steep - very large people will absolutely struggle with them.

Verified reviewIt's literally in the old square in front of the town hall, it's in one of the buildings that you see bombed in the photos of Arras. It had everything we needed. Parking under the square close by worked fine, it turned out to be 1euro a night but we were worried it would be more.
It loses 2 stars for not being super clean. It was a bit a dusty (on the shelves, fridge etc), one of the glasses was also dirty and the towels were clean but we're super thin and worn out. So small things the host can improve to get to a 8/9! The entry is also a cocktail bar at the bottom which seemed a bit weird, but it's far so no noise.

Verified reviewWe stayed for one might during a road trip, so we arrived late but they still showed us to our room. The location is incredibly good and the room (facing out to the square) is really well insulated. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Having AC was great.
There was a vibration/buzzing coming from somewhere during the night that made it difficult to fall asleep, but did not wake me after (I wear earplugs tho).

Verified reviewV good breakfast although the bright, purple chandelier was a bit off putting. Attractive, quiet room in quaint, old building.
A bit more information on parking would have been good. There's no car access to the Place des Heros. Nearest parking is around the corner in the Grand Place and we walked the rest of the way. The surface parking is free overnight but the recommended underground carpark is expensive. We parked overnight in the Grand Place and then moved the car to somewhere 10-15 minutes walk away where it was free. Be aware that the one-way system is tricky.

Verified reviewWhat a beautiful room in a beautiful square. Arras is an ideal town to visit whilst travelling through France. The room we stayed in was perfect and looked over the magnificent 'Place des Héros'. We spent a few hours roaming the town then enjoyed the eateries where we stayed. We only stayed one night, which was enough, but woke to an amazing market setting up right outside our window. Sadly we had to leave, but would have loved to stay and peruse the local wares - this was Saturday morning.
I like to be prepared with regards to local car parks, and this was trickier than you might imagine, but we found a great underground car park in the neighbouring 'Grand' Place'..... eventually. The only other (slight) frustration was loud music being played by the bar below our room late into the night, however, the exceptionally comfy bed meant that we had an amazing night's sleep, regardless.

Verified reviewThe position of the hotel, right in the heesrt of the town close to all amenities. The room was well soundproofed from the bustle of the square. The decor was very interesting, we particularly liked the library effect wallpaper! The staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Verified reviewPlace was quirky which we liked and very centrally located
Our room was on the first floor above the bar. The music was very disturbing until 1am when it was switched off. Sounds from the square outside are however fine due to double glazing (fine as there is AC). Unfortunately the sound from the bar travels vis the floorboards.
