Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceBeautifully decorated in the colours of Menton- soft lemon and pink tones. Very comfortable rooms with everything you need to feel at home. Wonderful staff on the reception; Julia was particularly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome in Menton and giving us advice on where to eat out.

ItalyWe had a truly wonderful 10 days stay at Hotel Gabriel in Menton and we can’t recommend it enough. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between elegance and modern design—every detail is tastefully curated, offering a chic and relaxing atmosphere throughout the property. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the pedestrian center and everything you might want to explore in Menton. Despite being so central, the area is quiet and ideal for a peaceful getaway. The rooms are immaculate, stylish, and extremely comfortable. The beds are a dream, and the amenities provided go above and beyond: Smart TV, Nespresso machine, kettle, mini fridge, high-quality bath products, and even complimentary water, beach towels, and beach umbrellas—a lovely and thoughtful touch. A special mention must go to Giulia and Jora at the reception, who were simply outstanding. Warm, professional, and incredibly helpful—they made excellent restaurant recommendations and ensured we felt truly cared for during our stay. The breakfast was another highlight: generous, fresh, and varied with both sweet and savory options, including homemade cakes that changed daily and several types of bread. The breakfast staff were just as courteous and professional as the rest of the team. There’s also a paid parking option very close by, which was convenient and stress-free. All in all, Hotel Gabriel exceeded our expectations. The flawless cleanliness, the exceptional service, and the genuine warmth of the staff made it an unforgettable experience. Thank you for such a perfect stay—we’ll be back

United KingdomNothing, all was fine - we were only here for a short stay and the hotel more than met our needs for the duration.
The hotel is very well situated in relation to Menton's main shopping and restaurant area. It is also a short stroll to the many beaches in town as well as not far from the train station. Our room was cosy and very clean and the air-con was effective and quiet. We also appreciated having a central fan. All the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and informative, and the breakfast was excellent with the option to sit outside on the terrace. We arrived earlier than our check-in time and were able to leave our luggage securely and return later to find our room. We also liked that chilled still and sparkling water was available at reception.

AustraliaI came to Menton as a female solo traveller, so my accommodation feeling safe and being centrally located was at the top of my list when finding somewhere to stay. I felt very welcomed by the friendly staff, everyone was always happy to say hello and provide a very comfortable stay. Small things like receiving a glass bottle to use for water refills (anytime at the reception desk with cold, filtered water) made the stay extra special! The location was great, it was easy to walk to the train if travelling outside of Menton along the riviera. The room was comfortable with a stunning view. I highly recommended Gabriel Hotel!

United KingdomMy husband and I had a wonderful experience staying at Hôtel Gabriel for 7 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was our first time to Menton and we could not have picked a better place to stay. It is centrally located, only a 5-minute walk to the main tourist area and the main beaches and a 10-12 minute walk to the Menton train station. There are many good restaurants and bars nearby. We booked a Jasmine room. It had plenty of room, a comfortable bed, and a balcony with a nice view of the city. The air conditioning and ceiling fan helped keep the room a comfortable temperature for the entire stay. The televisions are equipped with Netflix, which we appreciated whenever we decided to take a break in our room from the heat outside. The design of the room (and the entire hotel) is beautiful and clearly newly renovated. We had no issues with noise from inside or outside the hotel. We had breakfast at the hotel a few times throughout our stay. There was a wide variety of options and everything was delicious. At first, we thought it was a little expensive at 17€ a person, but after we tried doing breakfast elsewhere, we realized the value for money and convenience factor are worth it and we would recommend purchasing breakfast with your reservation. We also got drinks from the bar at the front reception once and they were served with a bowl of potato chips as an aperitif. We were also able to store our luggage at the hotel after our checkout since we had a late flight. The staff of this hotel were what really made our stay fantastic. From the first moment we walked in, we were welcomed with friendly enthusiasm and genuine care for making our stay as nice as possible. Every single person we interacted with was lovely. We were always greeted when we came back to the hotel and we were asked more than once if there was anything else we needed to make our stay even better. The best of hospitality!

Wonderful and peaceful hotel. Very helpful and generous staff. The hotel is close to Fossan beach, about 5-6 min walk, and about 6-7 min from there to Plage des Sablettes, both very nice in my opninion. In my room I had a balcony facing the courtyard, and I discovered with pleasure on my first morning that I had the morning sun there - great for enjoying the first coffee of your day. Nice room with the possibility of making a cup of tea or coffee, and bottled water was offered at the reception to take to your room.

SwedenSingle room was quite small which was fine, only thing is I would’ve liked some more places to hang or put my clothes. Otherwise everything was perfect.
The whole hotel was absolutely beautiful, so cute and the interior was so well thought through. It felt very welcoming. Very nice terrace were you can enjoy your breakfast or maybe a drink. You can borrow beach towel and umbrella and you get free unlimited still and sparkling water which you borrow a reusable bottle for. Great location, just a short walk to the old town and close to beaches and everything you need. Everyone in the staff was so lovely and helpful. Would 10/10 recommend!

RomaniaUnfortunately, despite being informed upon arrival that the hotel had been recently renovated, the rooms could definitely use some improvements. The bathroom, for instance, has a sliding door that doesn't close properly, which means you lack privacy when someone else is in the room. While the cleaning was well done, the bed linens had numerous stains, and the towels were quite old and worn. Also, although the website claims the rooms are soundproof, you can hear everything from neighboring rooms and the hallway.
Excellent location, very friendly staff, complimentary delicious water, comfortable beds.

This cute little hotel packs a big punch in service, style and amenities. I can not say enough about the friendly staff who make it their sole mission to ensure your stay is the absolute best! The decor is stunning and unique with no detail left unaccounted for. The location is perfection as you have a short leisurely stroll to the shops, restaurants and coastline without being in the thick of the noise and combustion. You will find your respite here.
