How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGiving a 2 instead of 1 only because the breakfast was fine. The place was quiet as a graveyard because I was the only one there, and it's in a lifeless village. Dinner was fine, but not the haute cuisine that the host seems to think it is (even us boggers from Ireland know what real jamón ibérico looks and tastes like.) WiFi was good.
Creepiest and mankiest rundown hotel I've ever stayed at. Deplorable state of housekeeping and upkeep; massive stains on the hallway carpet and on the upholstery, stained duvet on the bed, muck in every corner and in the drawers, grime on the mini-fridge, dirty walls, and filthy coffee maker (and they're asking 4€ for a capsule.) The door to the room was banjaxed and wouldn't latch properly, the aircon/heat ran noisy and the airduct was caked with dust. Cheap and gloomy lighting. Switching off the bed lights also turned off the wall outlet, had to unscrew the bulbs keep my computer charged up overnight. The "garden views" were of the roof of the place next door; you'd have to stand at the railing, peer down the alley and across the car park to see anything like a garden from -any- room in the place. The host/receptionist/waiter was a character, taking offense at the mildest criticism and making it sound as though not charging 40€ to stay 45 minutes past the 11:00am checkout time was a huge gift, when I was literally the only person there. Parking + dinner + breakfast added an additional 97€, absurd for the quality, level of service and for the region. I think there's some shenanigans afoot with all the glowing reviews on this site and on Logis Hotels site, someone's having a laugh.
To respond to your lying execution and insulting defamations, we specify that they are the opposite of our customers satisfaction with our services and prestations. In addition, a winter day, last day of a long weekend, is of course very quiet activity (therefore staff restricted because we all need to rest) in a charming small country village in the heart of Armagnac as quiet and peaceful as we and in our geographical area and moreover in this winter period. We do not thank you of course for the state in wich you left our room reserved (in entry-level and for such a low price) and its equipments including the minibar and coffe machine whose all the capsules you have consumed without paying for and not forgetting any ... as for the free departure leaving, however more than late ... never again ...

Verified reviewGreat location. Lavish decor with a balcony. Comfortable bed.
The owner misled me and lied by saying that on Sunday evenings, since this is the country, no grocery stores were open nor any restaurant for that matter. He mentioned that even their restaurant was closed, but he could fix me a little something for 40€ for supper. I didn't buy it for a second. When I got to my room I just Googled restaurants in Villeneuve-de-Marsan, and I found three eateries within 400m from the hotel that were open.
Dear Sir, you did not solicit us for any restaurant services or breakfast either. For your information, however, we specify you that in Bistronomic services and as well as in the enclosure of our Bar-lounge, we offer several alternatives far below and from 20€. As long as you could find it mediocrity food. However, we do not thank you for your deterioration in one of our somptuous rooms for a cost of repairs well beyond the modic rate we had agreed to for this room. Thank you ... good wind for the rest of your course

Verified reviewWe stayed in the Ernest Hemming room and the bed was a two poster antique piece and very beautiful. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable. Martin himself is a huge asset to the place and is very very welcoming. The food: this is the best thing about this property. The duck was sublime and there wasn’t a thing I would change about the food. Every course blew us away!
It’s a lovely hotel but with check in time so late (5pm) and check out (11am) you barely get to spend any time at all there. It’s also not a hotel where you can’t check in but you can stay in the lobby. No the building is locked up! Just be aware when you book. I had wanted to chill by the pool for the day and didn’t get much of a chance.
We are delighted dear Madam and dear Mister that you both enjoyed the excellence of our intimate Home, all our services, our professionalism and our acute sense of hospitality, the love of receiving at home and our passion for our beautiful profession of Luxury Hotels and Gastronomic Restaurant. We are disappointed that you kept us rigorous because of our Check in and Check out rules (just read it) The Check in is open and accessible from 5pm but only for the day of arrival ; the first day of stay in our home sweet Home. The maximum check out time is 11 am, but only for the day of your departure, after your stay in our Home Sweet Home. These internal organizational rules of operation are specified and stipulated on the various booking sites of all our partners including this of course. Also stipulated; you can choose our early arrival option (from 3pm) and our late departure (maximum 1pm), again, only for your first and last days of stay. These 2 options are with extra cost, it is also stipulated and exclusively by direct reservation with our internal reservation service. We were not able to offer you these options or any others, cause we were unable to reach you at any time despite our multiple attempts. It was simply enough to read our internal rules. We have allowed you, as you know, to stay in our Home Sweet Home for free and exceptionally until 12:00. It was a happiness, however dear Madam and dear Mister, to share with you both, the excellence of our intimate Home and of all our services. Thanks also for all these wonderful and delicious moments of exchange, sharing, conviviality and joy … Without any grudge dear Madam and dear Mister ; to the happiness of receiving you both very quickly in our Home of Heart with intimate atmosphere, as we promised ourselves.

Hello, Madam, hello, sir. Thank you for sharing the excellence of our services in every way and without exception. Verified reviewAs others have noted, this is quite an exceptional boutique hotel. It is beautifully decorated and the rooms are spacious. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding with "Monsieur Herve" himself explaining the provenance of the ingredients. Everything is home made and you can taste the quality. The dessert of conference pear tart with caramel and chilled marscapone was just delightful. We'd recommend staying here and would hope to return again.
Nothing to dislike.

Verified reviewThe hotel itself is very large and has several themed rooms, clearly they were well presented at one time but age is showing and they need redecorating ( hopefully) without changing the ambience of the building itself, there was a contractor working so this maybe underway, we only stayed one night and never took advantage of the breakfast or dinner options. there is secure parking on site for an additional small fee.
I am not a person to be negative, I have said in my previous statement what is in my opinion required.
We are very surprised and astonished by your comment, in perfect opposition to your texturized delight and clamed on site in our home sweet home … incomprehensible … In perfect opposition also and above all to the delight of all our customers, unanimously and on all our services. However, please be aware that our Home is the opposite of conservatism … the modifications and changes of decoration are permanent but always in the style of our Home and all this at a price / quality ratio defy any competition, you agree during your evening at home. In our home, renewal is permanent. Moreover, it is a shame to have the privilege of staying in your home sweet home and simply eating very mediocrely bad food given the excellence of our gastronomy and breakfast services. What a pity. To conclude and as stipulated in our rules of procedure, to avoid finding our rooms, as you left them during your visit … we remind you that it is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to improvise a dinner and/or breakfast like you do both, in our rooms. Good continuation and good luck.
