Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

The apartment is very beautiful, with a nice balcony. Everything was clean and nice, we felt like home. Great location, easy to reach all the main city points walking. Good wifi. Loved the bathtub after a long day. The owner was very helpful. We will definitely come back.

United Stateshad to pickup something quickly upon arriving and the host immediately helped me by going the lengths of driving together to the nearest store before it closed. Very great host overall with other things on checkout aswell. On top of that, I noticed the quality of certain things was not trying to be "cheap". the little details like glass kitchenware, cooking products, designer books, and shower utilities was done with good tatse compared to other places which sometimes give the minimum to save money.

United KingdomThe apartment was infested with cockroaches! We arrived slightly earlier and saw pest control in front of the building. We were allowed to drop off bags (no mention why pest control was there!) but when we came back we saw LOTS of dead and alive cockroaches. Owner was very communicative but denied that it's a problem with the flat and rather the building. We had to stay as it was already past 10pm and no affordable accommodation nearby. They were all over the kitchen area which we could not use, faeces in cupboards and corner of bathroom. Also crawling in the tea box provided. Balcony door couldn't be locked (ground floor apartment!) and kettle was faulty and a fire risk. Seems like minor issues now but only 3 knives for 5 people and only 4 bar stools. Chairs on balcony were useless as obviously not able to use at breakfast bar (not that we could cook anyway). Linen from previous guest were still drying outside which I had to take down. Wine stains on used sheet on couch, owner came the next day and put it in the flat's washing machine which again I had to hang up
Nothing, wish we didn't book the flat. Although to be fair the owner was very communicative and apologised but didn't make up for the awful stay.
