How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGreat location, free parking
The door at the end of the corridor, near my room, was loudly closed very late at night and early morning every day. Staff also loudly closed this door and the door to a staff/maintenance room further along the corridor. Both of these things, as well as a loud staff area outside at the back of the hotel, made sleep very difficult. Being asked for full payment on check-in isn't the most welcoming first impression either. Hard to recommend and I wouldn't stay here again purely for the difficulties I had in sleeping.

Verified reviewLoved everything at this hotel. Perfect location in the middle of the islands (30-45 min drive to most destinations), great breakfast, lovely staff, cozy bed, lots of shops, supermarkets and restaurants in 200-500 m on the street. Absolutely loved it!

Verified reviewThis would be easily a 4 star hotel in most of the European countries. Absolutely love it here. The bed is perfect for resting after a long day of hiking, the breakfast has it all, it is situated on a street which haa everything you wish for: numerous restaurants, pizza/kebab, stores for shopping, supermarkets and even a gas station. I decided to make this my “basecamp” for 5 out of 7 nights in Faroe and it was the best decision ever. Very easy to reach many islands from here (30-60 min drives) as it’s somewhat located in the middle of the country. This hotel had a huge positive impact on my Faroe adventure!

Verified reviewLocation convenient to bus stop and eating places in Runavik. Staff friendly when present.
1. Nobody at reception on arrival. As a consequence, I was unable to confirm whether or not breakfast was included in room price. In the event, I slept through to after 10am and missed breakfast the 1st night. 2. Restaurant was open the 1st night, but no meals could be served. Restaurant closed the 2nd night.

Verified reviewWe stayed here last year but wanted to stay longer this year as part of our honeymoon to experience more of the area. It didn't disappoint. The location is great, making it a cheaper alternative a short drive outside of the capital. The breakfast has a good offering with a few homemade pastries. The carrot French bread was a personal favourite for me and my wife. The hotel has a really nice and calm atmosphere with friendly staff. The restaurant has basic offering but gives an alternative to the other few restaurants in the vicinity.
The bathroom could be updated a bit more as the shower curtain can be annoying and doesn't stop the bathroom floor from getting wet during the shower.

Verified reviewSituated in quiet Runavík, a few hundred metres from the tunnel to go to Tórshavn, nice spacious room, very good pressure at the shower, excellent breakfast and extremely helpful staff, thank you very much for your hospitality and help (Annika and I don’t remember the name of the other lady). If we visit Faroe Islands again, we will definitely stay at Runavik hotel.
There’s nothing we didn’t like

Verified reviewThe room is small, but this information is clearly stated in the listing. Friendly staff, good and varied breakfast.
Bathroom!!! Instead of a shower door, there’s a horrible, smelly curtain — after taking a shower, the entire bathroom is flooded. The bathroom itself is small and has an unpleasant smell. Also: no coffee from the espresso machine at breakfast (the machine is there, behind the bar, but not available to guests). The coffee from the thermos is awful. Too few lunch/dinner options in the restaurant — only four dishes available.

Verified reviewThe breakfast is monotous. Each day is the same choice and the ketchup appears every second day. However it is tasty.

Verified reviewGood location and good facilities.
When you ask your room to get cleaned, this is how you get it cleaned and beds made, (photos attached) which is not acceptable. They didn’t even made the bed or washed the sink after emptying tea. First floor rooms windows are just next to parking and there is no privacy unless you close the curtain. Rest of the stay was good.

Verified reviewStaff is friendly and helpful. Very good location.
The toilet is not properly cleaned; there are still some waste remnants. The sink seems to have drainage issues — water tends to accumulate and remain in the basin for quite a while.
