Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyFood is good, they are also aware of allergies and gluten free intolerance, however the Chef never respects what you ask for or the list of ingredients on the menu. You ask for two omelets one with ham one without ham, you get both with ham. Menu says Beef Steak with Mushrooms, you get beef steak and vegetables but no mushrooms Menu says Yogurt with pineapple, toasted granola and shaved coconut, you get yogurt and oat flakes, no pineapple and no coconut. This was frustrating most of the time
It is located on a small Island and rooms and bures are two steps away from a very beautiful and enjoyable beach. They also have a tennis court

New ZealandThe food - it's OK but not great, there's some variety and the waiters are lovely, but it's just not cooked particularly well.
Very private, staff were excellent and very accommodating, beautiful rooms, massage was excellent (very peaceful) snorkeling right off the beach was fantastic.

AustraliaMatamanoa is simply awesome. It truly exceeded our expectations. It's not the pretentious resort, with luxurious treats and nuances... it's just great and very chill. It's an awesome spot to go and RELAX for real. Staff was absolutely amazing, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. The restaurant menu would vary everyday for lunch and dinner. Top notch snorkelling at the beach in front of the Hotel no matter which side of the island you go. It's justa awesome.

New ZealandAlmost drowned! Long story short - Went on a guided snorkelling safari - all 10 guests (thank god!) were competent in the water (4 were over 70 yrs) 1 guide in the water - no instructions - guide left half the group behind so we were split by 50m plus apart- swell picked up - boat 150 m away - snorkel should have been canceled then - swell really picked up to the point we couldn't board the boat even if it had been close - they lost the anchor trying to stabilise boat - no life preservers on board - over an hour treading water - exhaustion kicking in - 1 guest went into shock - thank god I'm an RN and we had another health professional on board to attend to her - eventually boarded boat with motor running to stabilise it against the swell - I have no doubt that had one person in the ocean that day not been familiar with ocean or panicked there would have been a loss of life! The sad thing - no follow up from anyone to check in on us! I have spoken to management about this, as there's Fiji laid back style and then there is incompetency! We stayed in a garden bure room which was darker and more cave like than I personally like, but others may be okay with this. The cleaning of the bures is sub par. At check in I found long dark hairs in the shower and sand in the sheets?? Through out our stay nothing was cleaned properly at all! We asked to switch rooms as we had water from the airconditioning unit coming through a light socket and had no running water at night. Apparently they reduce water flow to help with the desalination of the water on the island - so you do get limited water over night i.e. one to two flushes of the toilet plus a trickle from the tap and that's it! But we had none! Management were good at swapping us, but if there hadn't been a room available who knows what would have happened. Food and drink quality are inconsistent and average at best, think pub style, so if you're a foodie be mindful of this.
This adult only resort is on a small island with an intimate feel, because of this it is easy to relax. Only part of the island has a usable beach, that said the beach area is stunning, white sand and crystal clear water. Matamanoa is also a marine reserve, so you only need to swim a few metres off shore to see some amazing marine life. The pool area overlooks part of the beach and is well equiped with day beds and loungers. A must do is to sit on the beach at night and soak up the stars, absolutely stunning! The Spa is set in the most amazing setting, and I had an incredible massage. The staff overall were friendly. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to have the option of Air conditioning and/or fan. While there were some big negatives, I would consider returning (if I read other reviews that they had upped their cleaning levels!) but would stay in a beach bure.

AustraliaThe food in the restaurant was disappointing most of the time and was overpriced (e.g. the mashed potato with most of the dinner meals got tiring very quickly) and the service was a bit hit or miss, including housekeeping leaving our accommodation unlocked a couple of times. The staff were not as friendly as other places we stayed in Fiji and the vibe was a bit off sometimes, leaving us feeling like we were obviously just a commodity to them. Entertainment in the evenings was non-existent apart from one fire show, e.g., the "trivia" advertised most nights never happened the duration that we were there.
The island was a fantastic location and was extremely chilled and laid back, exactly what you want on a relaxing holiday. Sunloungers and sunbeds on the terrace were super comfy. The sunsets from the beach were unreal and the burre was such a lovely stay, and the bed was super comfy. The dive shop was great and I'd highly recommend diving and snorkelling wherever possible. Purple turtle transport was fantastic and well organised. Some of the staff were also very nice and helpful. Some of the guests we spoke to were multi repeat customers, which says a lot.

United StatesFood overall was not good 2/5. Better be simple as they tried to be gourmet but the food was not good. Served us leftover cold fries from another order on one of our burger orders. Noisy. They forgot our breakfast and rush to make us food that was even worst than usual
The water and location was amazing. You are paying for this and this alone is worth staying here. Price was reasonable. Some staff were very nice.others so so. My husband said the omelet was good. I like the pancakes the first time.

AustraliaThe wines are limited and a little pricey and a better selection would have been appreciated.
Lovely pool and plenty of beds and loungers. Beautiful views from there and the restaurant. Accomodation to a high standard, comfy bed and quality towels and bed linen. Kept very clean accom and tidy by Julie and Lavenia. There are well maintained natural gardens with an abundance of flowers during our visit. There is a varied menu and in my experience I found the Chefs to be very good and versatile. Excellent staff in the restaurant with Melea, Viri and Salame going the extra mile with a smile. A nice relaxed atmosphere. Reception are helpful with David and there is a small shop. Dive shop offers an array of dive sites and courses which we can also highly recommend.and many trips to other islands and snorkelling trips. A variety of non motorised water activities along with an activity board with daily updates. ie cooking, basket weaving type things. It's a great place to relax.

IrelandThe only area that could be improved is the food. Some dishes were lovely while others were a little below standard. If the food was slightly better it would be an overall 5 star experience.

AustraliaOrganisation could be improved ie no laundry bag or list in room, no beach towels in room this had to be chased. Laundry was delayed as they lost the room information. More explanation regarding snorkelling and swimming it was hard to get the information in the end worked out for self, A map of island, with recommended entry and exit points would be great The food was very disappointing for what is regarded as a luxury resort and expensive with poor presentation, variety and minimal fruit and vegetables. They ran out of basics which is unfathomable Nadi is only 1 hour away. I would stay again but would like to see the food improve
Gorgeous location fantastic snorkelling and diving great staff our ocean front Bure was excellent The staff work really hard and always have a smile on their faces. The watersports activities were run very well.
