Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanServed meals were all excellent. What is served at normal restaurants here all too salty for us. But the one cooked here tastes were moderate and good for us. Very quiet place. At normal beach excursions organized in Denarau, we were always annoyed by loud music but here no nois and there are lovely and friendly two dogs and a cat. Kayaking is recommended activity.

United StatesBecause we were the only guests during our stay, the staff was almost too attentive
This place was such a joy. It was secluded without being too remote. We were pampered by the staff, but also had plenty of alone time. The food was outstanding. We were well fed 3 meals a day. There were plenty of things to do. We went scuba diving, which the lodge arranged for us. We had a picnic on the beach, which was heaven and an experience I am not sure you could get anywhere else. They drove us to see our daughter at a mission across the island. We floated down the river to the lake, which was so fun we should have done it every day. Plus plenty of relaxing time. The room was clean and comfortable.

United StatesI cannot think of one thing to dislike.
The lodge has a private feel. There were five staff members available to us throughout our stay. The rooms are clean and large. We had free activities included with our stay. They go above and beyond to meet dietary needs and cook to your preference. Activities are available, and a knowledgeable activity director is able to customize trips with timely communication. Transportation to and from the airport is available. We were welcomed with a traditional Fijian song, and a foot and calf massage. There are two amazing dogs and one cat who stole our hearts. Breakfast was amazing, and our chef prepared meals were truly worth it. We learned Fijian traditions and cultures. It is off the beaten path a little bit but accessible by bus or taxi if one chooses to explore on their own. We stayed at a different resort down the road which paled in comparison to Salt Lake Lodge. The value of the lodge is well worth it. Please give them a try. I was sad to say goodbye.

Everything, it’s basic but comfortable. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortably as possible. Osea’s food cooking was delicious and he has such a good sense of humour! The excursion to the waterfall and visit to the local village was very good and interesting and the rock reef beautiful. I have been left with some special moments. SwitzerlandNote that at the moment, the salt lake is tambu, and nobody is allowed to swim or kajak at the moment. We didn’t mind at all because no tourists were passing by.
The location is beautiful, especially when the weather is good. We sat on the deck the whole day, watching the tide come in and go out, watching the fish, crabs, mudskipper, and sometimes even seeing an eagle ray. Osea and Mary prepared an excellent breakfast and dinner and helped us organise the bus and more. They and also Simon and Lily are very lovely people.

AustraliaNot staying longer and having to leave. I arrived in Fiji and the first part was in Nadi then 3 days in SavuSavu then back to Nadi. I got that so wrong. Should of stayed at Salt Lake for 10 days and 3 in Nadi.
OMG. Out of all the places i have stayed throughout the Pacific and Asia, this was the best. Thought i had died and gone to Heaven. Oscar, Oscar, Lilly, Solo and Maria you were amazing. I have a boy who is on the spectrum and they looked after us like family. I was so emotional saying goodbye. You were the best. Our main chaperone was Oscar and he was so patient and accommodating my sons needs to see all the " Survivor" locations . We experienced beauty , culture and the best of human nature in three days. Oscar is also the most amazing chef and we were blown away with his cooking. Don't miss out on this experience it will one of the best things you ever do. I have travelled to many countries and experienced many cultures and this is the best holiday by far. My hosts with their enthusiasm to make us happy in the most discreet respectful manner were the highlight. The beauty of the region is mind blowing and you must ask and make the effort to see some remote sites, meet the locals and experience the cultures. Meeting local chiefs and experiencing the welcoming ceremony was a highlight for us. The value for money was exceptional. At not one stage did i feel i was being overcharged and quickly formed a relationship with my hosts based on trust and respect. I can not say enough on how good this was and i will be coming back. Love everything about SavuSavu and my new friends. You are family. I just hope i have the chance to come back soon.

LithuaniaVery special and atmospheric place. Extremely friendly and sincere staff. If you wish to explore and participate in authentic local traditional happenings like lovo dinner or kava ceremony, Salt Lake Lodge is the place to stay. And never book any guided tours on the Salt Lake from third parties, because if you are staying at Salt Lake Lodge you will get all the equipment and advice for free to do it on your own! Book the romantic dinner on the Salt Lake instead. This comes at an additional cost, but Salt Lake lodge staff and extraordinary chef will go out of their way to turn this into the most amazing and unexpected surprise during your whole stay in Fiji!

AustraliaEverything was excellent.
Salt Lake Lodge is a fantastic place to relax and tune into the beautiful Fijian environment. The accommodation is excellent with only 2 bungalows. The bungalow I stayed in was very private, comfortable, overlooking the garden and river. There are also shared spaces you can relax in and you have the choice to engage in a range of local activities or simply lie by the river taking in the sounds of the jungle. There is the option to have chef service - Osea is a very good chef or you can get some supplies in Savusavu and cook your own food. All the staff - Osea, Lilly, Saimone and Solo are fantastic - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend Salt Lake Lodge.

New ZealandIt was ok because we had a rental car but you were relying on the in-house activities (the options are listed on a blackboard, e.g snorkel at split rock) you would be paying far too much as these were very overpriced for what they were. Likewise the ingredients charge for the chef service was steep, especially as the dinners we had made were average and did not necessarily correspond with what Hosea the chef said we would be eating. It was unclear whether or not he was cooking or just planning meals that we then prepared by the other staff. But if you skipped the meals and activities, this is otherwise good value and a really nice option around savusavu area.
Beautiful location! the free use of kayaks was amazing and the salt lake is stunning. There is also a very good breakfast each day (eggs and something sweet like local doughnuts or pancakes). Our room was spacious and clean, with a lovely private deck which we enjoyed sitting on in the evenings. The dining area was also very nicely kept as were the grounds and river access paths. The staff were professional and friendly. This was a nice place to relax - the salt lake and pontoon were really special to visit - and also a good base to explore further as we rented a car.

AustraliaThe hospitality of the crew, especially Solo, Hosea and Maria was exceptional. We asked to be treated to authentic Fijian meals and boy, we were treated and how! Highly recommend having a few meals at the property. The crew were just the sweetest people to have conversations with. And ofcourse, the location of the property is a bonus. Its private, quiet and just what you need if you're looking for a proper getaway. You can go kayaking or swimming right behind the property or relax on the floating deck! On a sunny day, you can spot colourful fish and star fish. All in all, this was worth it!

United KingdomThis isn't a 'negative' at all, but definitely worth noting this place is very isolated surrounded by sometimes very loud nature; no internet signal on phones and wifi only in main area. Occasional power outages (island-wide, not fault of place). For us the place was perfect, but worth considering if you're expecting somewhere with more hotel/resort like things.
A hidden gem, unlike anywhere I've stayed before - lovely river right alongside property, alone in nature. An incredible place to switch off from the world. Very friendly staff, always happy to help. Vinaka Lilly and Simon! Special note to the chef's service from Osia - it really is worth every penny, the food is exceptional and given it's a fraction of some of the mandatory meal plans elsewhere in Fiji, 100% worth it to add something special to your holiday.

United StatesEverything was really wonderful. This place may not be the best for less adventurous types. If you like luxury accommodations and no bugs etc - this might not be the place for you. But for those who like truly being in nature, this was ideal.
The location is stunning - on a tidal river that flows into a pristine lake. The lodge provided kayaks and tubes - and offered a variety of activities. This is a very eco friendly lodge. The staff were all wonderful. We were able to use the beautiful outdoor kitchen. All the food was excellent. Chef Oscar Ramateau prepared fresh and delicious meals for us both days and even accommodated one of our parties extreme allergies. It's the perfect place for a small group. Six of us (3 couples) fit very comfortably there. We completely enjoyed our stay there and would happily return.

AustraliaThe cost of ingredients for the chef service was a bit up there but Oscar does a great job at preparing meals for you. If it’s in your budget, I’d recommend choosing the chefs service. The cost of activities is a bit crazy so we opted to just kayak & I ended up hiring a car to do the waterfalls etc.
The staff were just amazing! I travelled as a solo mum with 2 kids. There’s 2 dogs Coco & Oli & they are just beautiful & friendly dogs. I felt really safe knowing that they slept just outside my door. The caretakers Lilly & Simon are just the nicest people & have no worries in helping you in any way. Layla is a beautiful person & makes the best eggs! 🤤 Oscar the chef & wife Maria are again beautiful people. My 5yr old really took a shining to Maria. Solo the manager is very helpful & comes & checks on you everyday to see if you want to do activities & organises all this for you. We stayed in the smaller lodge which would be great if you’re on honeymoon or a romantic getaway. We stayed in there for 1 night but it just wasnt big enough so we were lucky there were no other guests so we moved into the kingfisher lodge which was a bit bigger & had a loft room which the kids loved. There’s a kitchen on site so I highly recommend hiring a car through AA rentals so you can go to the shops whenever needed. Also if you stay in kingfisher lodge you can still get wifi but the smaller lodge you don’t. The smaller lodge is a lot more private & the shower is just gorgeous!!

FijiEven with the AC on, the loft with a queen bed was too warm, so my younger son just slept on extra pillows on the main level. The safe wasn’t working, but we were able to lock our room and felt like our things were safe enough that way, especially with how remote the place was and the minimal staff. If you go tubing, be aware that the tube left black marks on my swim shirt, but they came out with stain remover and a little scrubbing. Also, make sure to eat before you arrive or arrange in advance to have dinner prepared for you, as the staff goes home fairly early in the evening and the nearest restaurant, if it's open, is 15 minutes away, and the next closest is 30 min away in Savusavu.
We had the place to ourselves. It was peaceful and quiet right there on the river. The kingfisher bure was spacious enough for the four of us. The beds were comfortable, AC kept us cool at night, and the screens over the windows kept the bugs out during the day. We took advantage of the kayaking, tubing, and hand line fishing. Use of the kayaks was free; tubing on the river and hand line fishing had a reasonable cost attached. Kayaking and tubing down the river to the Salt Lake and back was beautiful in the early morning and at sunset, when the tide was going the right direction. Solo, the manager on location, also helped my son and me arrange a snorkeling tour to Split Rock with someone from his village, which they loved and was less expensive than what our second resort charged. One of the best things about the lodge was the chef, Hosea. The complimentary breakfast was pancakes with sliced bananas and a really good homemade coconut milk syrup that tasted like caramel, plus an attractive fruit plate. Hosea made scrambled eggs for my wife, since she eats gluten free. We asked him to also cook us lunch and dinner, since we weren't interested in cooking for ourselves on vacation. We picked one of the options he gave us, which all sounded good, and then he left to buy the ingredients. [Note: Having him cook lunch and dinner for the four of us was FJD100 total, plus the cost to buy the food (about FJD80 for the meals we chose) and a FJD30 transportation cost to town and back. Excellent value.] Both lunch and dinner were beautifully presented and delicious! We could see he was a professional, which he confirmed when he told us about his love of cooking and his history cheffing at some famous resorts in the area. Wished we could have stayed longer!
