Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomRooms and bathroom in particular are very small so fine for a night or two but cramped for a longer stay.
Breakfast options were good. Hotel had lots of character from architecture to paintings and furniture. Location is excellent for visiting the large beach which is very safe for swimming. Also for walking to shops and restaurants.

United Kingdomno fans/air conditioning to keep cool. The rooms are small so getting in and out of the bathroom means you have to do a dance with the door. somewhere to dry clothes would be useful for coming back from the beach (it also rained whilst we were there!).
Stayed for 3 nights - great location walking distance to beach, city and sights. space to sit outside and a covered area - useful for rainy days. Sumptuous fittings and decor makes it a lovely looking place. Great showers and comfy bed. you can also make yourself a tea or coffee any time.

United KingdomRooms are small and can be a bit noisy if you are located on the ground floor as this is were the entrance is. Breakfast choice is limited, but again adequate. Could do with some nicer bread choices and fruit options. Fresh orange juice and a kettle to make tea and coffee was the best thing. Sight issue that needs to be fixed is that the shower door didn't close, so flooded the bathroom.
Lovely boutique hotel. Rooms are quite small, but adequate for the price paid. Clean and tidy. Location is perfect - opposite a golden, long sandy beach. Short walk into the square and 25 mins walk into town. Would recommend for a short break.

United KingdomNot so much didn’t like, but the rooms are small, though well appointed. We came for a week and had cases, body board and it was a squeeze! But we weren’t in much, so it wasn’t a killer. No air conditioning, which meant you had to have windows open but it is the start of the mosquito season!!!
Location, location, location! Two minute walk to the beach!!! One minute walk to the local bar! 25 minute walk into the city centre! Clean and fairly comfortable. The room was cleaned daily! Breakfast was pretty good. The showers in the rooms are excellent, especially after a day on the beach! Staff were friendly and courteous. And it was a bargain at £73 a night.

United KingdomThe day we arrived it was raining heavily. We were in the attic, and we discovered rainwater was coming in the roof and soaked my husband's luggage. There was no night desk to tell anyone, and as he had to leave v early in the morning, again no staff on desk, there seemed no point in mentioning it after the fact. No lasting damage done, but it would have been nice to be able to go down and maybe get our room changed to one on a lower floor where we weren't lying in bed wondering if we were going to be soaked in the bed too.
The location was excellent for us, and very easy to get into central Santander on the regular buses. Lovely old hotel, great breakfast laid out in basement. Across the road from beautiful beaches and gardens

SpainUnfortunately, I waited about 40 minutes for me and the other guests to be given the room keys. I also expected more from the breakfast, but it was worth the money. So if you like to eat a lot for breakfast, it's better to choose another option.
The house looks very nice, and the interior of the hotel and the room is also beautiful. Everything is in the old style and there are a lot of antiques. If you like that kind of thing, you'll be happy. But at the same time, you could feel the antiquity of these things.

United KingdomMy room needs some money invested in it - lights that don’t work, plug sockets broken, very outdated bed spread and curtains. It’s all liveable with, but it would make guests feel more valued. Breakfast at 8am (the sign says 8.15) is too late - 7am is much more practical if you want to make the most of the day.
Previous reviewers weren’t joking when they said the rooms are small - I could touch all four walls from my bed! But, the location is great - I could see the sea and hear it and for under €80 a night September prices), so I was happy with that. Breakfast choice was decent - eggs, yoghurt, fruit etc. All the staff are nice, barring the querulous one who produces the breakfast. Overall, it’s a slightly eccentric hotel, but it defo has character!

IrelandThis is minor bit the coffee at breakfast was cold every morning and had to be heated by microwave . There was a nespresso machine the first morning but it disappeared after that. Other than that minor fact everything was excellent. It might bother some people but there was no A/C.
We were a family of 4 staying at the hotel for 2 wks. Two adults and two teenagers. We loved the location. It was right across the road from the most fabulous beach. The hotel was small and quaint, also very clean. Location was very close to restaurants and busses into Santander. Breakfast was a continental breakfast and it was fresh and delicious. Any of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We also took to bus to Bilbao which was only 90 mins away and we visited the Guggenheim museum.
