How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewI have never felt so emotional when I am leaving a place. Seriously, this place with the people inside is something else. I would like to thank especially Furkan, or Yuda as a nickname, who is a great person ever you can meet in Egypt. He is super helpful with everything. He is like a true friend. My 7 year old daughter had a great time thanks to him and also others. I cannot finish my words easily. I just hope to come back to this paradise again. Thank you dear Furkan, Omar and others the names are not mentioned here. Hope I can see you again 💜🙏
Thank you very much and we hope to see you again soon 🫶🫶😘

Verified reviewNothing! These guys are scammers! The good reviews are fake. Mustafa uses it to lure people in to his hotel. They ask for everything in CASH. Mustafa said he had to cancel my reservation to "get me a better deal" but it was just a scam.
Everything! He only takes cash and in-person. The room was made for me AFTER I paid for the room and it had flies. He offered to take me to see the locations and he did but he instantly made insane charges for the ride and EVERYTHING else. This is why he only takes cash in person. Stay away! Report him to Booking and the Tourist Police.
my dear you asked me to cancel the reservation for making cheaper but I am not accept.but after you not come I did I have to cancel because booking charge me and you not come

Verified reviewThe location was good as it is in downtown area and the view of the Nile was a plus. The room was okay—nothing fancy, but clean enough. Service was polite, though not as warm or attentive as other places we stayed. Overall, a decent option if you're looking for something simple in Luxor.

Verified reviewThe location is perfect, central to everything in Zamalek and not too far from any other attractions in Cairo. They gave me a huge suite which is decorated beautifully in an old Arabic style. The shower is good and hot.
There is little natural light, but as I wasn't there most of the day this wasn't an issue. There is a kettle but no tea or coffee to make so bring your own.

Verified reviewSituated in the quiet western bank of Luxor right next to a beautiful canal, the Old Nile Hotel is a wonderful place to stay at. The rooms are part of a small one-story building, and quite cozy! The "dining room" is a space outside, with cozy benches, tables and covered by large cloths. The manager and his crew are very friendly and hospitable and we even hung out for quite a while. Also, the food they serve is very tasty! All that for a very fair price. Would definitely recommend!

Verified reviewThis place is a hidden gem! It’s super quiet, with restaurants, shops, and transportation and ferry all within walking distance. You can spend your early mornings or late evenings relaxing on the pond. You can even fish or ask the staff for a short cruise around or take you to the other side of the pond to walk around the banana and palm trees . Don’t miss out on the chef’s authentic food - just make sure to ask him a bit early. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place!
I couldn’t think of one easily, since everything I wanted was available or if I asked for it, it would be in front of me in no time.

Verified reviewA Lovely Serene Place to Recharge your inner batteries to escape from the Hustle & Bustle of Luxor. Take a boat to the West Bank. It is very easy to get to the otherside. The staff are very accommodating to your needs. They can arrange transport, takeout food, laundry etc.

Verified reviewThe place in itself is very beautiful, quiet and special, with the water and the colors on the buildings, and a nice garden. The room is ok, though with a bit of humidity and the smell coming with it, spacious with a good bathroom. You can easily walk from there to the Nile, there are a few restaurants nearby, ATM, mini markets…
We booked for 3 nights. When we arrived, they almost seemed surprised to see us and didn’t really welcome us, they had overbooked their rooms so they put us in a building next door (which was totally fine; but still not what we had booked initially). They never apologized for that. On the second day, we could move to the room as planned and it went smoothly for the rest of our stay. Overall the staff could be more welcoming and friendly.

Verified reviewI loved my stay in Luxor. The whole team was super nice. They helped me with picking up at the airport, organizing a trip to the West Bank (and sharing the cost with another guest), and with getting a private car to take me to Aswan in the end of my stay. They definitely were responsible for a big part of how happy I was in Luxor and how successful the trip was. I definitely recommend. The room was very nice too and the location is great, very close to the public ferry. I liked the restaurants nearby on the water too.
All was good.
