How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Furniture update urgently required
Hi Nady , I understand your frustration because you wanted to extend your stay at my place but I was not able to extend your stay because the place was already booked online even though you asked desperately to check out later than the regular check out time breaking my house rules and I allowed you to stay after the check out time for an hour or more but you did not appreciate that even it was tight time for prepare the place for the coming guests ! secondly, you booked for 6 guests but 8 guests were in the flat !! which is a clear breaking to my house rules which does not allow more than 6 people in the flat so i was hoping that you were honest not only for your review but also for the real number of guests coming to stay in my flat !! Your review is unfair because you were impressed upon your arrival with the place decoration and furniture and appliances and you said everything is perfect !! but after we refused to extend your stay because the place was booked you took a fit and wrote unfair review ! All the furniture is super clean and most of the of it is modern and matching a hundred percent the pictures on the website For example the room with 2 beds is less one year old and it cost me 50 ks Egyptian pounds , the living area couches and chairs is less than one year old and cost me 42 ks and appliances including air conditions is all brand new and it cost me around 200ks !! I agree it’s a prime location and the three air conditions are all brand new This place so many guests from England , Germany , Japan , Korea , Turkey , Greece , Egypt and KSA gave 10/10 reviews because this lovely decorated fully equipped flat is rare catch in Alexandria but I understand where are you coming from ! In the morning hours, there are cars and people passing by with a noise level that I would consider loud; it’s not directly related to the property because the noise is not caused by it but it is important to know in advance, I believe. Also related to the traffic is a level of smoke that could be considered uncomfortable. In both cases (noise and smoke), keeping the window closed in the morning is what I recommend. For me, these are external factors didn’t affect my overall superb experience, which is why I want to come back :)

There was no key to my room, only a lock from the inside and there was no key to the apartment itself, I had to knock everytime I wanted to enter The apartment is in the ground floor so the balcony has no privacy and I was hearing noise all night
Hello Sarah , Thank you your kind review . I am happy the staff are welcoming you and I wish to have you again. Regarding the key for the appartment there is a lock box has the key for the flat with 4 digits pass code and it’s being changed everyday so I wished you noticed that . Secondly, this room is family room and there was key before but families with little kids asked for just a locker for children safety in case a little kid might swallow the keys so we changed it to a locker putting in consideration the appartment is safe and there is security guard 24/7 and all tenants are mature and respect the house rules of not entering your room for any reason at anytime . We made the choice of upper ground floor because of cutting electricity over past year in Egypt so our guests do not struggle getting to the flat . The street is so quiet most of the time unless some people are selling stuff in streets using microphone or screening 😊 and this is something common in Egypt it’s not something related to the appartment.. Happy we had you but I just wanted to over few points to clarify everything in details Thank you and I wish to see you again possibly in the other room in the same appartment where it has keys and not exposed to the street with private flat screen TV ( it’s just 2 US $ extra/ night ) and it’s has 2 beds for 2 people Thank you Abe
