How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewMaghrabi was incredibly accommodating, kind, and gracious. He allowed us the convenience of early check-in and late to check out, which was so helpful to us in our situation. The guest house is very traditionally.Nubian, so it's a great experience for someone who is visiting Aswan. And I absolutely recommend eating dinner there! The price for dinner is excellent, and the food is even better. The kafta and the chicken were delicious. Included in the stay are ferry rides to the east side of the river. Also, he can arrange transportation to the airport for a very reasonable price. I definitely recommend Maghrabi's guest house!
I was quite happy with everything!

Verified reviewSuch a relaxing serene place. Host was polite and respectful that my daughter and I felt safe and comfortable, especially after arriving from Luxor. The host was able to organise our transfer to Abu Simbel which was fantastic as it eased a lot of stress for me. We had simple but very tasty breakfast and dinner during our stay. If you want to stay somewhere quiet, calm and cultural then Mahgrabis Guesthouse is the place to see. It is a family run guesthouse who are honest reliable and exceptionally friendly people. We wished we could have stayed longer but whenever I return to Aswan I know I will return here. Shokrun Mahgrabis Guesthouse we wish you all the best in the coming future.
Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewWe enjoyed Maghrabi Guesthouse very much! There is a huge space outside the room with plenty of seats facing the Nile River. Room size is spacious, bed is comfortable, and can see the sunrise (open the door). The area is quiet, yet can be a little bit hard to find. The hospitality is superb, the owner is eager to solve the problem immediately for instance when we request for heater they arrange with the portable one instantly. Also the acommodation provides the free shuttle boat to the opposite side and there is a supermarket nearby. Also they can pick you up with a car loading your luggage upon your arrival at the roadside near their accommodation (normal car can't drive in). The breakfast is rich and nice! This is the best guesthouse we stayed in our 15 days in Egypt (Cairo's Pyramid Era View is nice too btw). Would definitely revisit when we are in Aswan next time!

Verified reviewPicturesque houses with mango trees. Very nice property. Bathroom clean and maintained. It’s on the other side of the nile, so away from all the city noise. Food was amazing. It took about an hour to prepare, but it is worth to wait every minute. Very tasty. Owner and stuff nice and helpful every time.
Nothing to dislike about this property for me

Verified reviewI read some great reviews before booking our 3 nights there and they met our expectations. The owners are lovely hosts and they cross you across the Nile in their boat for free which is a plus as the guesthouse is situated in a very quiet area on the west bank. If you are in need of peace and quiet in a magnificent place, this is for you. Plus, the food they offer is very tasty (also try the hibiscus tea), the rooms are beautifully decorated without losing the nubian charm. They even helped out with the booking of a private car to Luxor. The guesthouse is one of the best places we have ever been too. I recommend it thoroughly.

Verified reviewMaghrahbi's Guest House was a little oasis in the chaos of Egypt. It was heaven to stay at and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Even the trip across the Nile to get to and from it was a pleasure. Breakfast was good. There is a restaurant on site that has a set menu that you can order from. A small mini mart for snacks is a 5 minute walk.
Very minor is that there's no kettle in the room but they have tea and coffee facilities and make an awesome hot chocolate.

Verified reviewBeing away from tourist areas in Aswan was what we wanted. The guesthouse was on the West Bank of the Nile in a peaceful, bucolic setting (farming area, cows, goats, camels, donkeys). The room (107) we had was in the new wing so good shower, AC, etc. and the ceiling built in the Nubean style. At dawn, as the sun hits, the ceiling is illuminated like the night sky. Although far away, the busy Aswan world is only a short(and free) on-demand boat ride away. So we had access to restaurants across the way. Tomb of the Nobles is walkable, but I think the guesthouse would have taken us by boat if I asked. The facilities themselves reminded me of a beach resort in the Philippines, with views to die for and easy access to the Nile. Tables and chairs scattered about for breakfast and soft drinks. Sometimes they might have other meals available but check in the morning. The best part of the experience is the staff who were friendly and welcoming: Hossam, Sayid, and the two older boys named Mohammed. Of note: we picked up virus before coming to Aswan, and started showing symptoms there. Hossam personally escorted us to the “tourist” hospital Al-germaniya and stayed for three hours with us so he could accompany us back to guesthouse. We would not have managed the bureaucratic process without him. When we gave him bakhshish/tip, he absolutely refused it. Owner Taha had arranged for taxi to airport($15), which was not a bad price. Although you can only speak with Taha over the phone, don’t hesitate to ask Hossam to speak to him if you need anything. If you’re coming into Aswan late in the day, ask to be picked up from airport because the place is not easy to find.
Breakfast is typical Egyptian fare so blame the culture, not the guesthouse. On the plus side, it is served in an open-air area with a beautiful view and the amount is generous! For people looking for fancy facilities and touristy surroundings, this is not your place.

Verified reviewBoth evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Generous portions- two tilapia fish each in the evening! Hossam was so friendly, cheerful, generous and helpful. He supplied me with multiple hot lemon and honey drinks to soothe my unfortunate throat infection and helped with our heavy luggage. He also happily transported us to the other side of the river at the end of our stay. Such a lovely host and accommodation! Thank you.
Bathroom towels could be slightly larger perhaps?

Verified reviewNile facing of the property . Arranged early breakfast for takeaway early morning!.
No docking station at the hotel.Got to to have some balance and support of the boat driver to get down & in. It is located in Nubian village, but far from the main Area of Nubian village…where u see the colorful buildings of Nubian village & markets in videos.. each time you have to cross the river- you have to Pay 💰 10$… So consider main objectives of the stay before choosing the property. Couldn’t enjoy the calmness on the river banks of the river due to the local gatherings in the compound!.
I would like to clear two thing 1. you didn't use our boat you hired a different boat not ours 2. (Local gatherings) you mentioned in your review are the Hotel guests just like you.
