Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Omar and his son Ali were great hosts! Very considerate, friendly, hospitable! Not pushing to sell anything, just wonderful and honest. The room was as described, impeccably clean. Omar arranged for me the breakfast in an “unusual” hour due to my trips, and was very helpful answering my questions about the routes, travels etc. As a solo female traveler, I felt truly very safe at Elephantine while staying at this hotel. Totally recommend!

New ZealandStaying on Elephatine Island is a great choice. It is a quiet peaceful haven away from the hustle, bustle and hassle. Everyone on the island is friendly and greats you when you pass. Omar and his family look after you so well even before you arrive. Omar arranged a pick up from the airport and then met us with his boat. Would strongly recommend this as it made life so easy. They have a small family run place which is clean, has everything you need and more and a short walk to the ferry. He also arranged a day trip to Abu Simbal and again had us there in his boat at 4am!! A great place! Comes with our highest recommendation

Very nice place! The owner picked me up at the ferry stop with his private boat, which is much easier than taking my bags and walking to the place (there's no transit options but your feet on Elephantine island) Very clear room. Great shower, great wifi, great AC. Elephantine island is very lovely, quiet and peaceful. Free homemade breakfast is lovely as well. Highly recommend 👍🏻

GermanyThe host Omar is very nice and honest person. He offered us a private transfer to the island free at midnight, since our flight was delayed 3 hours more because of sandstorm. What's more, he offers only 10 dollar airport transfer, which is much better than airport taxis, so we arrived Aswan without harassment. He also helps to negotiate a better day trip price,in general very very nice experience!

United KingdomWonderful stay in a traditional nubian guest house. Very clean and comfortable, and nothing was too much for Omar. He helped us to organise any trips we wanted and to navigate the island. Fantastic breakfast on the rooftop and a refreshing welcome drink. If we had an early trip, Omar made us breakfast to go and showed us the best of Arabic hospitality. Thank you Omar we are very grateful 🙏 We felt very safe on Elephantine island, relaxed and quiet, easy to get to and from the mainland and some lovely nubian restaurants. Would definitely recommend to stay here rather than the mainland.

United KingdomA great stay at Kashta Nubian guest house. Omar contacted us prior to arrival to arrange picking us up in his own boat, it was a scenic ride to the other side of the island. The guest house was beautiful and very clean, Omar made us a refreshing juice drink on arrival. Our room was fresh, clean with comfortable bed and good quality bedding. The air conditioner and ceiling fan ensured you were comfortable whatever the temperature. The bathroom is compact but there was plenty of hot water and the pressure was good. Breakfast was included and on each of our days was delicious, and plentiful ,served on the shady roof terrace . There are only 3 rooms at Kashta Nubian , it was always quiet a really good night's sleep I would recommend anyone to stay here. Thanks Omar, we had a great stay.

NetherlandsOmar is an amazing host and a genuinely kind person. He picked us up by boat and even helped carry our bags to the ferry when we left. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated, with stunning artwork and thoughtful construction. The beds were incredibly comfortable—I had the best sleep of my entire trip. And it’s super clean ( everywhere!) The internet worked perfectly, though we hardly needed it as we spent most of our time exploring. At first, we were concerned about the compact bathroom, but the shower worked great without any flooding. Breakfast was served every morning, and Omar even prepared an early meal for our Abu Simbel trip. We also booked our Abu Simbel driver and airport taxi through him at a fair price, and we felt completely safe. One of the highlights was enjoying breakfast on the rooftop, surrounded by morning birds and the peaceful jungle-like atmosphere. If I could, I’d give Omar a 10+ rating—his hospitality is truly heartfelt, and I hope more people get to experience and support his wonderful guesthouse.

United KingdomIt's not luxurious and there are still improvements to do - there's nowhere on site to relax outside apart from the roof terrace, which though delightful only has chairs and is still under construction. Bedside lights would have been a great bonus.
I've been travelling and working around the world for over 35 years. Honestly this is one of the most charming and lovely guest houses I've stayed in. The owner Omar and his family are new to tourism and nothing is too much trouble. Without being intrusive he is helpful and caring and always on hand to help. His meals- the breakfasts and supper (you pay extra for this and need to ask in advance) are large, good value, nutritious and superb. The setting is super relaxing and the beds hard and comfortable. The place is only a year old - excellent shower, strong internet and spotlessly clean. He's happy to accommodate dietary preference and you can use the kitchen yourself. The guesthouse is like staying with family, and very reasonable price indeed. Omar has a boat - he picks you up from the mainland and the hostel is 100 metres uphill from the Nile. There's also a public ferry running every 10 - 20 minutes for £10 Egyptian. (£60 Egyptian= £1 UK.) You don't pay for the inbound journey but you do for the outbound journey with Omar. There's excellent viewing spots and swimming sites which Omar will happily accompany you to. he's also on hand to stave off the occasional unwanted advances of local hustlers which I really really appreciated. I felt incredibly cared for, like a lovely uncle making sure I was safe. The island has the wonderful archeological site currently being excavated, the museum, and some really delicious local restaurants (the best being Sahato Kato), but the highlight is the setting. It's genuinely relaxing. The island is still at the stage where there's genuine interest and enthusiasm for outsiders, and an incredibly warm welcome. I had a number of very interesting discussions with local women and young people.

United KingdomQuiet, peaceful but very convenient. The property is a small guest house on Elephantine island - a short boat ride from Aswan. Omar was the perfect host - picking me up in his private boat and welcoming me with a juice. He was a very accommodating host - he made delicious breakfast every day (and even made a packed breakfast for my earliest start). He was good at organising tours and nothing was ever too much trouble. The rooms were very private and the rooftop was lovely and quiet. This was a perfect spot after the chaos of Cairo!

GermanyOmar is a very nice and helpful host (and a very good cook!). He helps with everything, e.g. organizing trips at reasonable prices. Pictures of the rooms match the reality (which is not always the case). He's offering a private boat trip to Aswan city at low costs (if you don't want to take the public ferry). Definitely worth staying here!

FranceOmar is an amazing host. He prepares fantastic breakfast.. He's always flexible, offering to welcome us at the ferry and preparing breakfast early in the morning for Abu Simbel trip. We felt privileged to be welcomed by him. The rooms have everything you need, and decoration is a nice change to the often more basic decorations we have seen in hotels and guesthouses in Egypt. Location on Elefantine island is great, just a 5mn walk from the ferry, then ferry to cross is 2mn and 10 Egyptian pounds only. I can only recommend!

My stay at Kashta Nubian House was nothing short of amazing. The host Omar is truly a great person. His wife is also so sweet. Omar is definitely one of the kindest people I've ever met. He made his place feel like home. He greeted me upon my arrival and provided a welcome drink. Anytime I needed anything he was available. He offered help with directions and even walked me around the village the first day that I arrived. His hospitality is top tier! I also have to highlight the amazing home cooked breakfast. Truly the best that I had while staying in Egypt! You can tell that he truly enjoys being a host and ensuring guest get the best experience will staying in Aswan!
