How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewRate Kato Waidi Nubian Resort at Nubian Village is truly a beautiful and welcoming place to stay. Nestled right in the heart of the Nubian village, it offers an authentic and peaceful experience just a short walk from the local market. The area is vibrant but calm, and it feels like you're stepping into a different rhythm of life. One of the best parts about staying here is the location—it’s right by the eatery where you can easily rent a felucca (traditional boat) for a very fair price. We originally booked just one night but loved it so much we stayed for two. We had the pleasure of meeting a local named Bob Marley, who docks his boat just outside the hotel. He gave us a wonderful private tour on the Nile for about three hours, taking us to a serene local beach and showing us hidden spots along the river. It was an unforgettable experience. The food at the hotel is delicious and authentically Nubian—fresh, flavorful, and made with love. Everything about the place feels local and genuine, which made our stay even more meaningful. We also recommend walking around the nearby market. There’s a cozy coffee place just around the corner (possibly the only one in the area), and they serve excellent Turkish coffee and traditional Nubian coffee—a perfect stop to relax and soak in the local atmosphere. This place is a gem. If you're looking for a truly local, affordable, and memorable stay, Wadi Hotel is it. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Verified reviewUnfortunately, my experience at the property was not positive. There were many insects and even some reptiles around, which made it quite uncomfortable. The air conditioning was very weak, making it hard to relax, especially in the heat. Additionally, the toilet area didn’t feel secure due to exposed or nearby electrical wiring, which raised safety concerns. Lastly, the overall setup of the place lacked privacy, which made it difficult to feel at ease during my stay.
I didn’t like several aspects of the property. There were a lot of insects and even some reptiles, which made the environment uncomfortable. The air conditioning was very weak and didn’t cool the space properly. I was also concerned about the toilet area—it didn’t feel secure due to exposed electrical elements nearby. Lastly, the overall layout of the place didn’t offer much privacy, which affected my comfort during the stay.
The problem was not with the air conditioning or insects; I think that was not correct, but the problem was in the privacy he wanted, which was of a different kind and is not allowed in all hotels. When he wanted to share his room with foreign guests and we informed him that this is not allowed, he started creating problems. Therefore, I understand your negative stay.

Verified reviewThe staff is the highlight of the place, very nice people and great manager. Food was good and reasonable. Good Nile view from the lobby.
So it's perhaps the expectations were different, but location is much more of a village than a tourist spot (it does have a few touristy shops). While it's location beside is Nile is really nice, reaching the place itself is quite a hassle. Also, IT IS EXTREMELY KEY to book your transfer with the hotel to pick you up from the airport/train. The city is tiny and rural, and has no Uber and very dodgy looking cab providers on the airport. We arrived after 8pm in Aswan, so it was already dark, and the roads are really bad trying to reach this place. The rooms are basic (good brickwork) with tiny windows, and our wifi in the room mostly didn't work (one in the lobby works). You are very dependent on hotel transfers in this location, which are quite expensive ($15 one way trip to the city) and much higher than what other resorts in Luxor charged us. That was the main drawback of the place.

Verified reviewFresher air as it is far away from downtown.
1. Breakfast is horrible. Worst food with a lot of flies around. 2. Not easy to go out and back if planning to go to downtown or to airport. Most of the nearby boats are private tours only. 3. During our stay, the electricity was cut off for sometime. Not sure if this is a common scenary. 4. No complimentary water. 5. Unfortunately, not all areas is reacheable by Wifi. Our room has no wifi. 6. The room was not cleaned on the 2nd day of stay.

Verified reviewGreat view. Delicious lunch. Comfortable rooms. Nice area to shop for items to take home. Awesome vibes overall. The only tough part is the transportation. You can take a boat or you can order inDrive, but the road into the area is not constructed well. Hopefully it can be fixed in the near future.

Verified reviewThe hotel is located in a lovely little Nubian village which has a very authentic feel. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were uniquely decorated and very clean. We were given a traditional Nubian breakfast which was tasty (huge portions). The staff were the nicest and most kind hearted people you will ever meet. Always ready to help with anything we needed including calling a taxi, laundry and their general friendliness. I loved my stay at this hotel. The sunrise views overlooking The Nile are unmatched.
Nothing.

Verified reviewI stayed with family here for a couple of days. This hotel is located on the shore of nile River. View from the hotel was wonderful, and we enjoyed a lot from the little balcony in our room. As this hotel is located in the nubian village, we got to know more details about them and absolutely they are very lovely people. Their languages (several languages of nubian people), attire, food, and daily life are very distinct from others. Owner of the hotel, Mr. Hameidhi was such a humble and modest person. No boasting or bragging about themselves, though they deserve well to do so 😀 Mr. Mohammed, who is a relative of Mr. Hameidhi has explained about the nubian culture well. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and had a tasty food. Obviously, it is a great option in Aswan.

Verified reviewStaff very nice , really nice looking area with shops. Restaurant at the location was also pretty good . Grey view for sunrise and sunset . Just take into account the location, it’s a little far from everything so you will either be laying 10$ for boat ride or 5-7$ to get to the city by car. Takes a little bit but if you don’t care then it’s not a problem .

Verified reviewIt was an unforgettable experience during our stay in the Nubian village at Kato Waidi’s Nubian Resort. There was only one hiccup, which was the radio silence five days before our arrival. I was told that they would arrange for pick-up from the airport and reached out twice to confirm, but there was no reply. Thankfully, we were able to find a taxi, but had to pay double the price the resort offered. One might experience A LOT of overcharging in Aswan (except for the food), so be prepared and do your research. It got so bad to the point where I felt like I had to pay to breathe. Almost everything is transactional. Nevertheless, Kato Waidi’s staff take care of their guests. They went out of their way to offer us free early check-in after our flights from MIA —> CAI —> ASW, answered all of our questions and gave travel recommendations. Everything is just as advertised--the room, the views. Breakfast along the Nile was exceptional. I’d definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the culture of the Nubas. The city offers a variety of restaurants with some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life, as well as a lot of touristy shops with aggressive hagglers. I was able to purchase some seasoning to take home and can’t wait to put them to use. The location of this resort is about a 15 mins Felucca ride to Elephantine island and the ride was so worth it! I can’t wait to come back for a second tour.
