Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI've traveled plenty and visited many hostels. Holy Sheet might just be the best place I've ever stayed at. Mina and his team were more than welcoming upon a super late arrival (3am) and continued to impress throughout the stay. Friendly, personable, super clean facilities, beautiful accommodations, delicious included breakfast, the list goes on and on. A++, a must stay when visiting Cairo!

United Kingdomminor issues with only one lighting option in the rooms, bright! not good in the evening.(one or two side table lamps should resolve that) squeaky bathroom door.(a bit of oil will do)
the staff are wonderful very helpful and polite. The building is nice and historic the entrance looks shabby don't let that put you off. when you get to the rooms they are clean and tidy, very nice. the location was spot on with beautiful buildings surrounding. The best feature in the building was the elevator something out of the titanic old but surprisingly smooth in operation.

United StatesThe curtain rings on the beds are metal on metal and very loud. They wouldn’t have to spend much to replace those with plastic. The staff also always turns off the AC but they turned it back on every time I asked them to, so not too big of a deal. Overall, very nice place.
No scams, no funny business. Everything was straight forward and as expected. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is good if you want to stay in city center. The room was comfortable and AC worked decently well enough. Good value for the price. Friendly cats in the stairwell.

This is an exceptional hostel ranging from dorms to private rooms. It is safe, centrally located near shops, restaurants and attractions. The water is hot, the facilities are clean and the breakfast is so good. And the folks that run it are amazing. Super helpful and friendly. It also has an awesome vibe where you will meet other travelers.

United StatesI’ve been coming to Cairo for the last three years, and Holy Sheet Hostel is always my go-to place to stay. The staff are incredibly friendly, the location is perfect—right in downtown and close to all the best restaurants—and it’s always clean and welcoming. Honestly, it’s the only place worth staying at in Cairo. Highly recommended!

FranceThe property is a little hard to find due to the scaffolding and construction everywhere. For a hostel I didn’t find it to be overly social, it was quite quiet. The private room needs a little TLC, the bathroom especially was a little run down.
The hostel is located in a nice central location. It’s clean and the rooms are overly quite comfortable so the price is overall decent.

Hong KongThe complaint is that the curtains were so noisy no matter how quiet or gentle you may be. The curtains are metal on metal, any time someone opens the curtain it would create this horrible screeching noise that would wake everyone up. The door to the room is also very loud. The noise the curtains made was so awful and would echo the room. Really hope they can fix the curtain situation because it ruined my stay but truly everything else was perfect!
This hostel was amazing, really great location, very nice and private bathrooms (which is hard to come by in a hostel), big beds, nice balcony, lovely staff! The staff really care for you, they go above and beyond and always have a smile on their face and they are ready to help you with anything you need. Shout out to mustafa he was so kind and helpful during my stay :)

ItalyThe hostel was always very clean and proper. The beds were cozy and the staff always available and super friendly. The breakfast was nice and, very importantly, they provide free drinking water, which is a bless with this very dry and hot weather. The location, in downtown Cairo near the Egyptian museum, is just perfect. We highly recommend this hostel.

GreeceI was traveling solo in Egypt and I decided to book a hostel rather than a hotel. Wanees Hostel was amazing, great facilities, the staff is very friendly and helpful when I needed them. They are also very responsive via Whatsapp in everything I was asking for anytime during the day - even late in the night to request for a wake up alarm. I totally recommend it and it's worth it even for small groups, solo travelers or even group trips. You are in the heart of the downtown city centre. Despite the fact that the entrance of the building in the first look may put you second thoughts just go uptairs and you will get used to it. Super friendly the guys there. The hostel is very clean, with well-maintained rooms and bathrooms. You can tell the staff really care about keeping the place comfortable and tidy. Speaking of the staff, they were incredibly kind and helpful — always smiling, offering great tips about the area, helping with tours, and even assisting with transportation. The location is perfect — close to everything, easy to find, and in a safe and quiet area. If there’s a rooftop or terrace, the view and vibe are just the cherry on top — the perfect place to relax after a long day of exploring. The price is very reasonable for what you get — great service, comfort, and a memorable stay. It’s definitely great value for money. I highly recommend Wanees Hostel to solo travelers, backpackers, and anyone looking to experience authentic hospitality in a cozy, friendly environment. I’d definitely stay here again!

United KingdomInternet didn't reach well inside the rooms. Mixed toilet (hope there is specifically for male & female)
I stayed in female dormitory 3D 2N and very satisfied with my stay. I requested for lower bank bed but its not available that time. •Rooms--clean, organized, curtain for each bed for privacy, slanted ladder for bunk beds which makes it safer and easier to climb up. AC was off the whole night but its not hot when sleeping (not sure if they open in the morning), with balcony where u can hang your washed clothes •Toilet--clean, each cubicle has toilet bowl (without bidet) and shower, mixed toilet •Staff are very helpful and nice especially Ibrahim, Bibo, guy in morning shift at 4th floor (forgot his name) & female receptionist. There much willing to give recommendations to food, stores, tours etc. All can speak English well. •Free water, coffee, tea, milk powder •Breakfast has good amount of serving •Building looks old and scary outside but the interior of the hostel where they are located in 2f and 4f are very stylish & quiet. Not expecting interior to be very chic •allowed us to stay our bags after check out •location is very strategic since located in downtown

TaiwanThe staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English, which made us feel truly welcomed. It was the most satisfying accommodation of my trip to Egypt. Although the carpet in the room looked quite dirty, the rest of the room seemed to be cleaned thoroughly, so I still gave it a high rating!

BelgiumI ended up staying three nights instead of one. To me, everything was perfect. The employees were always in for a chat or for sharing some information. The bed bunks were cosy and private. An overview of the activities they offer for trips or things to do could be useful.
