How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAbu Simbel and being on the lake is amazing. The rooms mades of dawb are very nice. The kitchen helped our vegetarian. The sound of the birds is really nice.
I wasn't happy that when I asked for tickets to go see the show, he wanted to Make us pay full price when we had two people that paid discounted rates. And pretended he did not know. The breakfast was all convenience food and an omelet. Instead of it being more traditional or like home cooked food. Food was simply not worth it, not the ''included'' breakfast.
Good day to you Mrs. Habib ,, & Thanks for sharing with us your thoughts , Just in quick three points that mentioned , 1) Since the opening of Eskaleh in 2005 , we accept any currency that are available, even our card machine is in EGP, the menu in USD only to be understandable for our major foreigners guests , we never insist on special currency. 2) The tickets of the show is an option , we have it as a service for our guests , instead of hacks online that guests had before, our service are the same rate of the company , and we can't do any discount , or we will be losing money :) 3) We choose the food that we serve , to be more suitable for most our guests , we did knew that our traditional dishes, may be unhealthy for some of our elder guests , so we offer the intercontinental breakfast , as known & suitable for most of our clients, & we don't hesitate in going the extra miles for our Guests :) Thanks again Mrs. Habib :) for your opinion ,That helping us to improve :) & my greetings ,, Hasan Kashef Reservations manager

Verified reviewThe owner and all the staff are kind like family. Even if you don't have a set plan, they will help you. There were no problems with the facilities.
As reservations are confirmed early, it may be difficult to be flexible.

Verified reviewWe like the lodge as it resembles the nubian house. The experience of being part of the locals living in the barren, dusty, sunny but cold environment. The lodge is comfortable with minimum but clean facilities. Mostly, I like the staffs, very friendly and polite.
One thing that i am not happy is there was no wifi coverage at our room. Most likely is because our room was furthest from the reception. The lodge should install a wifi router for better coverage to all rooms.

Verified reviewThe new rooms are very neat and tidy, have good bathrooms and a view of the lake from the front terrace. We were in the last room (room 5 or 6) which was very quiet and room was clean and bed was comfortable. We had dinner which was good but was expecting something special from all the reviews. They very were helpful in organising a car to take us to the aswan airport for 80 USD. Good price. The communication via email before we arrived was really good. Friendly staff.
Breakfast was average. All edible but bread was average and so was everything else. I asked for eggs cooked with oil (can't handle butter) but they were drenched in butter. The Eco lodge is growing... bus tour having lunch there when we arrived.

Verified reviewOur room was clean and traditionally designed, the staff was very friendly and the location was beautiful, right next to the lake. The hotel arranged our boat ride in the lake to catch sunrise at Abu Simbel temple and it was absolutely worth it.
Everything was great. My only suggestion for improvement is to add a few freshly prepared items in the breakfast.

Verified reviewPeaceful location and very clean and charming.
The sheets and pillows are washed in lightly scented laundry soap, which some travelers may be sensitive to (such as breathing trouble for my family).

Verified reviewOne the best accommodation we have stayed Egypt, absolutely amazing hospitality, 1000/100, you can’t imagine how passionate and helpful the staffs are, they probably are the best people we met in Egypt. Food is amazing, the breakfast is super fancy but very delicious. They sell tickets for the light show at the exact same price with the Abu Simbel Temple ticket office, and they can help arrange drivers to drive to drive guest from hotel to the temple and literally wait for them there after they finish and come out, with only 500 EGP! They driver is the single best driver we ever had in our 12 days Egypt trip, no joke, he is fluent in English and is very helpful, taking us to amazing local restaurants and explaining everything we saw on the way. I got scammed by the local hospital, where I had a rabies vaccine (another sad story) for 180 USD which is absurd, and on the receipt it says I had intensive care which is completely untrue and the hotel owner really helped me, by telling us what does the Arabic on the receipt says, and suggest us how to seek for support, such as visiting the tourism police, and we end up getting half of the money back. When we left, we even got an offer from the hotel where we had a private mini bus that takes us to Aswan for only 40 USD which is amazing price, even costing less than even a sedan on inDrive
Nothing really, the facilities are obviously not on par against hotels in Cairo or Luxor, but when compared to other hotels in Abu Simbel, it is definitely top notch, and the Nubian vibe is very interesting and unique

Verified reviewThe lodge is located by the bank of Nile River and offers clean and nice facilities and close to airport and Abu Simbel temple. Serag el din , the front office manager was super nice and kind and we were enjoying his company for a sunset water tour. He even prepared free water and snacks for our trip back to Aswan. Thank you, Serag. I’ll come back to visit someday with my family.
Food has a plenty room to improve.

Verified reviewThis hotel is an absolute gem in Abu Simbel. The staff is incredible, and the food is excellent. They went above and beyond to accommodate my wife and me, arranging a taxi for our visits to the temples. Additionally, when I requested a transfer to Luxor, a six-hour drive, they didn’t just provide a driver; a member of their staff accompanied us to ensure everything went smoothly during the long trip. I was truly speechless at their kindness. I hope Bkar arrived home safe and sound, as they mentioned they would be driving back another six hours on the same day. What wonderful people they are!

Verified reviewThis was the best hotel experience I had in Egypt. I was really worth spending a night in Abu Simbel! The lodge is beautiful and located on the banks of the Nile. The staff was very helpful and served us excellent food. It was also easy to communicate with them before our stay to arrange transport etc.

Verified reviewThe lodge is typically decorated in the Nubian style; this is a very lovely place with beautiful nature surrounding. The staff is very warm and welcoming. You need a ride to get to the temples; otherwise it is a good 30 mins walk.
The wifi didn’t work in the bedroom. Prices for food are in the high range compared to the rest of the country.
