Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilThe hotel itself is very charming in an interesting location, heart of Nubian village, river front. The room was comfy and very clean, exactly like in the photos. We felt very relaxed and welcomed. The room was silent good sound isolation, we’ve stayed at the last room of the hotel corridor. The restaurant was excellent, big portions, great fresh local products, exquisite cuisine. It was the best kebab we had in Egypt. It has also beautiful views to the River. First, we came from Cairo with some stomach illness and the manager of the hotel Samir and all hotel staff did everything to make us felt better, he even went to a drugstore and bought us medicine and gave us as a gift. Thank you very Samir and Hamo, restaurant manager, your sympathy and attention made all the difference. Hamo also offered us local tea for all discomfort every day and it has helped a lot. Samir booked some transfers for us, they were all good and responsible drivers. Last, we had to leave the hotel early morning for a trip and they prepared us a breakfast box, with good variety and quality products, even boiled eggs. I don’t understand why other guests complain about it. Bottom line, I loved it and totally recommend.

United StatesThe shower setup makes no sense. Also a bit far from city center if you want to spend the majority of your time exploring on your own. However if you have mainly tour group pickups, it is perfect.
Adored the waterfront view, the lovely mattress and amazing staff members like Mohammed and Soraya who went above and beyond even when I was grumpy after being in 117degree heat. Located right in a Nubian village which has the sweetest people, all of whom aren’t pushy and have really low prices compared with everywhere else in Egypt. For my Abu Simbel trip ( 4 am departure) the hotel staff woke up early to pack me a lovely breakfast basket. Also, the breakfast is the most perfect sautéd aubergine and cucumbers as well as eggs, foul and juice. Just heaven!

PortugalSince the hotel is inside the Nubian village, the road to access it is a dirt road and we were a bit scared when going there for the first time during the night. But during the day is perfectly ok!
The staff was super friendly and attentive. We had two early wake ups (for example, at 4am) and there was always staff there to help us and give us breakfast boxes. The hotel is literally on top of the Nile river and the views are breathtaking. Also the hotel is very clean and nicely decorated! And the restaurant had delicious food. Overall a great experience!

United StatesA bit more off the beaten path than I expected. It’s about 5 min via tuk tuk on dirt roads to reach the hotel. It’s more of a backpackers inn. If you’re looking for a taste of a Nubian village it’s a wonderful opportunity.
The staff was helpful. Dinner by the water was delicious. Our flight was delayed 4 hrs and the staff waited for us for dinner. So thoughtful!

United StatesThe nubian village is dry so do not expect alcohol if that is your thing. Obviously hot in summer months so a pool would be ideal to cool off.
This is a solid option for an aswan stay in the nubian village/west bank. Beautiful setting with clean, well-apportioned rooms overlooking the Nile. The food here is excellent including the huge breakfast. The nubian cuisine is outstanding. Our dinner at a fraction of the price overwhelmed an overpriced dinner at the old cataract. The staff was extremely helpful in organizing trips.

Our stay was fantastic. Somaya, Hamou and all staff treated us kindly and managed to sort out everything regarding our stay but also in terms of our transportation and questions we had about the archeological sites. The hotel is at a great location to visit Philae temple, Aswan and Abu Simbel; the village is also worthwhile to visit and explore the markets. Our room and all facilities were clean and tidy and the view to the Nile is amazing. The food was also incredible. Highly recommended, we will visit again!

TurkeyDolty Kato is THE place for tourists. Our expectations of the hotel and the Nubian village were not only met but exceeded. We experienced: • Delicious, freshly made meals by two native chefs • Warm hospitality from the sincere, prompt, and very accommodating managers • Clean, beautifully decorated rooms and upstairs area • Unlike cities in Egypt, the Nubian locals were not aggressive—chill was the vibe of the town Highly recommend Dolty Kato!

FranceWe liked everything. The breakfast was a large Nubian breakfast, very generous proportions. The only plus for us would have been cereal or yoghurt as a choice.
Lovely location right on the Nile and in the center of the lovely Nubian village. Our room was large and spacious and the balcony looking over the Nile was superb. It was so nice to relax there with a coffee and watch the activity.on the river. Samir the manager is very kind and helpful. The first night there was a storm and he prepared food for us to eat in our room. The second night we ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious. Upon arrival we were offered a welcome drink and our Abu Simbel trip was well organised with breakfast to take with us ( and beautiful). Internet at this hotel was the best we had in our entire 14 day stay travelling in Egypt . This is a charming little hotel , beautiful traditional decor, great staff. We would stay again

GreeceAn amazing hotel next to the river. The room was clean and tidy. We had the number 1 room for 3 people . It was a big room with 3 windows with an amazing view (the front rooms have also a small balcony to sit outside) The breakfast was nice and the owner also suggested if one day had to leave early to prepare our breakfast for take away.

United StatesWe arrived to the place hours earlier than our check-in time, and Sumaya accommodated us right away with complimentary afternoon tea while getting our room ready for us. Food was really yummy too and everyone working there were super nice. Right in the middle of all the camel rides and literally attached to the balcony where all the Feluca rides take place.

Beautiful and unique Nubian design; friendly and caring staff members; excellent cooking from the hotel kitchen and really good location close to the market for strolling and shopping. Samir the manager is absolutely exceptional that he not only helped us with organising day trips in and around Aswan, but also prepared a most memorable birthday dinner.

DenmarkThe only downside was that it was a bit noisy sometimes with the boats passing by. But other than that, we are truly pleased with our stay and wholeheartedly recommend going there.
Our stay at Dolty Kato Nubian House was absolutely wonderful! We, unfortunately, only had one night there, but it was exactly what we needed after a few hectic days full of activities. From the moment we arrived, we felt an immediate sense of calm and relaxation. The house is incredibly charming—cozy, colorful, and beautifully situated right on the Nile in a sweet little Nubian village. The atmosphere is serene, and the setting felt like a peaceful retreat. The staff were nothing short of spectacular. Somia, the receptionist, kindly upgraded our room to one with a balcony right on the water, which was such a lovely surprise. Everyone we encountered was kind, helpful, and genuinely attentive. A special thanks to Hamo, our waiter at the rooftop restaurant, who shared thoughtful advice and interesting local insights. The owner, Ahmed, was also warm and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed. What truly stood out was how sincere and honest the service felt—something that, sadly, can be hard to come by at times in Egypt. Here, we felt safe, cared for, and completely at ease. The food was another highlight! Full of flavor, generous portions, and real authenticity—it was some of the best meals we had during our trip. The bed was very comfortable and gave us just the rest we needed. We left feeling truly pleased with our stay and believe this gem of a place deserves 4 stars rather than 3. We only wish we had booked one more night, and we hope to return someday.

AustraliaAmazing stay and honestly one of the best customer service experiences in Egypt. Rooms are super cute and cosy and was so Amazing to wake up to the sunrise right o the river. All of the staff went above and beyond and the food was simply delicious. I chose to eat there often rather than go to other restaurants as it was some of the best food I ate during my month in Egypt. I'm coming back with a group later in the year and even gave them a shout out on IG which is rare. Highly recommend 👌
