How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAmazing location on the island! The accommodation was very comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly. They even picked us up and dropped us again at the pier with a private boat. We tried the food on the rooftop for lunch which was delicious! I highly recommend if you are looking for a unique local experience.

Verified reviewGood food, good people, good mood, all super good. Just a note that the hotel is on an island so you'll have to take a taxi boat (takes 5 to 20 mins if you have to wait for departure) to go to the rest of the city.
Nothing

Verified reviewI had a good stay, so I extended by one more day. Had dinner twice at the property and food was tasty & of good quality. Mohammed and his team are kind and patient to listen and answer any questions posed. They were frank and honest with their replies which is a rare quality. Mohammed helped me with planning and booking sightseeing tours in both Aswan and Luxor. The room had an exceptional Nile view and was very clean.
The beds were a bit soft but ok for the short stay.

Verified reviewAmazing guest house right on the Nile, with private shuttle service. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, added an extra night after a mistake in our itinerary réservation 🤣. Mohamed and Baky were incredibly reassuring and made everything easy, turning our last day into an EXCEPTIONAL one. As two women traveling alone, we had never felt as safe and comfortable as we did here since the beginning of our trip. The accommodation is excellent — comfy beds, great shower, air conditioning, fridge — and the rooftop offers a stunning view of the Nile. For visiting Aswan, Elephantine Island is by far the best place to stay. Mohamed and Baky will be deeply missed, but we made a promise to return to visit our heart family, Elephantine Island and the Nubian people. A heartfelt thank you ❤️ !
The only thing we regret? The stay was way too short 😜❤️

Verified reviewGreat welcoming. Amazing experience. Best View from the terrasse, you really feel the calm and quiet of the island and the greatness of the Nile, so much better than being in Aswan town. Everyone was nice and helpful. They seemed genuine which has not been the case in Egypt, so thank you! A bit expensive but very tasty food, one of the best Moussaka in Egypt! We had a misunderstanding on boat price, they were super nice and understanding about it and honoured the first price. I thank them for that.
Not all beds are confortables. Towels are pretty small. Breakfast is very overpriced , 4 dollars each plate for an omelet, and few fries with bread and jam.

Verified reviewVery quiet and relaxing place. The hotel is by the Nile shore on an island. Local Nubian locality. The owner and all other staff were super helpful Homely feeling
Since this is separate from the mainland, the area is dusty. But I recommend staying here to help locals

Verified reviewThe staff here are so lovely, really going above and beyond to make your trip feel special. Elephantine island, and the special trustworthy staff all contributed to make our stay feel like we were in a sanctuary where we were able to let our guard down and properly relax with amazing food (especially the dinners) and the beautiful views over this tranquil section of the Nile.
Some of the facilities are quite basic, but it’s worth the sacrifice given the value for money of the accomodation and the calm peaceful atmosphere.

Verified reviewWe had a truly wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The hosts were incredibly kind, attentive, and accommodating throughout our visit. Coincidentally, it was our daughter’s birthday during our stay. When the owner, Mohammed, found out, he surprised us with a large birthday cake—completely free of charge—and made it possible for us to celebrate as a family. It was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that we’ll never forget. They also helped us organize several local trips at very reasonable prices, making it easy for us to explore the area. Mustafa, the youngest and most charming member of the family—well-known in the town—often joined us on outings and played with our daughter, which made the experience even more special. Breakfast was generously provided at no extra cost, and the paid lunch and dinner options were absolutely delicious. The fish fry with rice was especially memorable—highly recommended! To top it all off, they kindly allowed us to stay a few extra hours after checkout, as our flight was later in the evening. Overall, we had an exceptional stay and felt genuinely welcomed throughout. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm and memorable experience.

Verified reviewI can't say enough about our stay here. Elephantine Island is an eye-opener for those who come from cities of sidewalks and roads. This island is all dirt so be ready for that. A whole different and amazing people live on the island. Our place was great. The two hosts are so friendly, very easy to work with. They helped us with all our questions and needs. They helped book our tour to Abu Simbel. They helped us get a boat driver to the tombs across the water where after we dove and swam in the Nile. The roof gives you a grand view of the Nile and Aswan. A clean place and a great deal.

Verified reviewThe location is great. It is on the island of Elephantine which is very calme compared with the noisy city part. The view at the terrace is unbeatable, especially during sunrise and sunset time. The host is super kind and accommodating. The team helps to arrange Felucca trip and Nubian Village trip at a fair price. Wifi and hot water worked very well. The room is spacious and clean.

Verified reviewThe accommodation was ok and clean, and pretty spacious.
The prices of food and drinks in their location are way too high, considering prices in Egypt. I consider them a rip-off, and the food is not so good. I recommend going somewhere else or bringing your own food Also, when you check in and check out, you will need a boat to get there, but take into consideration that they might be late, and you should have some buffer time; otherwise, you might lose the plane. We found out for ourselves that "Egyptian time" is not the same as the rest of the world's "time." Also write down the phone of the boat captain or car driver, because they might not be there at the agreed hour

Verified reviewOwner very welcome and helpfull The kitchen in the room is a real advantage
The night was not restful; the beds need to be replaced. The breakfast prices were very expensive compared to the average. We had to buy groceries and eat in our room.
