Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaThe room facing to the street is a little noisy at home. If you are a light sleeper, you should ask about the noise
The owner of the manager makes the cozy hostel warmer and more comfortable for travelers. It becomes the home of Chinese people who visited the hostel. The owner is polite and gentle to every guest. Every time when he drinks the tea, he is always ready to offer you one. It’s very wonderful to talk to him. It’s a pity I only stayed for one night.

RussiaIt's not social, and maybe due to low season there were not many people. I felt a bit uncomfortable staying there with the owner alone and shortened my trip by one day. Also the owner doesn't speak English.
The place is really clean. The tour to the lake and Sahara is affordable. The owner allowed me to use his washing machine for free. Also he dropped me and the other guest to the bus station for free. The dormitory has only two beds.

The hostel is close to restaurants and cafes, as well as the bus station Mr. Salouma was great in his dealings and always smiling and trying to help, you can book excursions with him inside Siwa, such as the salt lakes.

GermanyLike everywhere in Egypt, double glazed windows is not the norm and so the noise of the street outside can be heard in all the rooms. However, they let me move into the other apartment which faces the backyard and was slightly more quiet. All in all, Siwa was a standout part of my trip and Al Manara was a big reason why. It was worth the 11 hour journey to and from Cairo each way (!) for only a 2 night and one full day stay! No scamming, no hassle, no problems - just a great day out taking in the beauty of Siwa.
What a lovely place - one of the best places I stayed at in 3 weeks travelling Egypt. Although the owner was not there when I stayed, he was still 10x more present and helpful than most hostel owners I encountered. He promptly answered any questions I had via whatsapp from before I arrived to the moment I left, so that I never felt out of my depth or without a clue. And when I arrived late at night there were staff members to help me who spoke English. As a solo female traveller, details like this are very important, especially when you're travelling a little off the beaten path to more rural areas. The hostel offers a really great priced day tour to a number of the sights with a private driver, who was a really cool guy though he didn't speak English. Entry prices are not included for some of the stops though most of them are free. It was honestly one of the most comfortable, great value and beautiful days I experienced in all of Egypt. The location is great, right in the town and practically next door to the beautiful, swirly stoned Shali Fortress which you can visit at any time. Convenience stores, restaurants, souvenir shops etc all on your doorstep. The hostel is made up of 2 apartments facing each other on the first floor. I stayed in the apartment with 2 rooms, each with 2 beds. There was only one other guest the entire time I was there so I had my own room which was great. There is also a washing machine in one of the bathrooms so you can do your laundry anytime and my room had a balcony with a drying rack.

AustraliaAbdu and his staff are so gentle, it was a great pleasure meeting them and my stay at Al-Manara was simply great. The bed is a single king size, fresh linen, it's a 2 beds room, bathroom is huge, common lounge, and access to the kitchen. Thanks for your hospitality, see you again!

AustraliaNothing…sleepy with ear plugs and was fine. Street is noisy but it’s not the property fault.
Abdou is such a kind person, we did two different tours with him by tuk tuk, to the desert at sunset and to the salty lakes. Everything was incredible. Accomodation is comfortable and clean, Siwa is very dusty and he makes sure to clean the property all the time.

ArmeniaIt looks a bit old fashion, but once you meet Abdallah with his great big heart and willingness to help, you calm down and you get happy. Also, the place is tidy up, more important than style. It is right near the busy city center, the advantage of being close to the fortress, the shops and the restaurants, the disadvantage is that it can be noise all the time from the traffic, also the second night for me, they did some excavations until 2am.
A huge bed with a cozy and comfortable mattress. Very warm comfortable in the room, fluffly and comfortable blankets. An amazing host there, Abdallah, ready to help you around any time. Breakfast changes from day to day and I enjoyed that. Good working shower, you have also the shower at the toilet. There is hot water, soap, toilet paper, great wifi. It is located right in the heart of Siwa.

AustraliaYou can use the kitchen but I wasn’t able to figure out how to turn the old stove on. Some instructions around that would be helpful. Minor note during an otherwise comfortable, joyful stay.
Really pleasant stay at this hostel. Great location moments away from shops, shali fortress, restaurants, very affordable, really helpful staff who are generous with sharing their meals, information and opportunities for exploration and tours. Comfortable double beds. I’m so glad I was able to meet some super nice fellow travellers here to explore and spend time with. I think it would be hard to do so at any other accommodation in siwa. It made my stay in siwa so much more fun. All that being said remember it is an affordable, basic hostel so keep your expectations in check.
