How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe rooms were extremely clean and cosy! The breakfast was freshly cooked each morning! What we loved the most was the water fridge into which mr Gohar would put fresh water for his guests, freshly cold and ready to go! The guest house is perfectly situated near the pyramids as well. The owner, mr Gohar is also very nice and feels like an uncle to you 😊 He was able to put us in a room with a view at the pyramids upon request.
Nothing to do with the guest house itself however the location it's in tends to get dodgy at night - there tend to be a few people who just latch onto you and try to get money from you. You get it anywhere in Egypt but just keep that in mind. The local restaurants also tend to be hard with tourists (charge you more or have you pay for things you haven't ordered). Theres no businesses which do food delivery either (if you feel too tired or scared to go out).
Thank you for this evaluation and we wish you success in the future. Thank you.

Verified reviewWe highly recommend Gohar Guest House where we felt very much welcomed and looked after like family members. Rooms are spotless, beds are comfortable, breakfast is homemade and delicious. We enjoyed the simplicity of the place and most of all the heartfelt owner, Halim, whom we thank again for his hospitality. Last but not least the location, so close to the pyramids yet located in a secondary road so no noise at all at night! And that amazing view from the terrace where we took our daily breakfast.
.
Thank you for this good feeling and we hope to see you again. Thank you.

Verified reviewThis is a wonderful destination to stay in Cairo. The owner welcomes us at the airport. At his place he leads us to the top floor of his building, where we have two rooms, a dining room and a small kitchen and a big terrace with view of the Pyramids of Giza. This is also the place where breakfast is served every morning The owner is a very friendly and helpful man, well versed in English. He drives us to every place we wanted to see and also goes shopping with us. His house is within walking distance to the Pyramids. This quarter of Giza is very quiet and shops and other facilities are within walking distance. We recommend it in any case for travellers who do not want to stay in a luxury hotel and want to have private contacts.
Thank you and we hope to see you soon.

Verified reviewI had an amazing stay at Gohar Guest House, Giza! From the moment I arrived, the Mr. Halim Gohar (Owner) was very welcoming and attentive, making the check-in process smooth and easy. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with all the amenities I needed, including comfortable beds, AC and a well-equipped bathroom. I was also impressed with the hotel’s facilities which have free access to Wi-Fi , Tea Maker, Washing Machine, Iron and a Fridge filled with drinking water bottles for free. The location is perfect. From Roof top you can have breakfast and tea/coffee watching the Pyramids. Pyramid Visitor centre is just 600-700 metres walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of local Egyptian delicious options. Mr. Halim Gohar personally takes care of everything. During your stay, you will encounter with Mr. Halim's nauthy daughter........the CAT 🐈 😅😅 Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next visit. Highly recommended to all!
Thank you very much

Verified reviewThe owner is an amazing person, quick to please and help you with anything if possible. As other reviews said, he can even join you to be your driver and kind of guide to places(he took us on a while day trip to Giza and Saqara, we intended Memphis too but we were too tired in the end). The breakfast is amazing
Just to be clear, It's not something Gohar can do anything about it and we can not hold it against him. The surrounding locations are scary at night but this can be said about all of Giza, it is what it is. On the bright side, Halim took us to shops before going home and we got all the drinks we needed and enjoyed the evenings and nights on the roof top.
Thank you

Verified reviewI spent New Year's Eve at Gohar Guesthouse with a nice view over the fireworks at the Pyramids. The guesthouse has a great terrace with direct view over the Pyramids. It is really great to sit there and just stare at them. You can enjoy breakfast every morning with the fantastic view over the Pyramids, Just amazing. Since the guesthouse is located in Giza, it is also very calm, and you can get a good night's rest. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable. For me, the right degree of hardness. Some of the rooms even have a view over the Pyramids. There is coffee and tea (black, mint, green, hibiscus) on every floor for you to enjoy. In the „kitchen area“, there is also a refrigerator. Halim, the owner, is really helpful and ensures that you feel at home. In a nutshell, it is a real great Egyptian guesthouse, run by a local host, with great value for money. Additional information: To Cairo (Egyptian Museum), it is 150 LE (50 LE = 1 Euro as of Dec 2024) with Uber. Which is really easy. You can spend the day in Cairo and profit from the calm nights at Giza. The Grand Egyptian Museum is just a few kilometers away, and an Uber costs ~50 LE: To the Pyramids, you can walk from the Guesthouse. There are also nice restaurants nearby.
Thank you very much and we wish you all the best and happiness.

Verified reviewThe view is worth the rental on its own. Sitting on the balcony, sipping a drink, hearing the call to prayer and watching the sunset over the Great Pyramid is a one off
The first sign that you are in the guest house is when you get through the door, a signpost on the path outside would be a good idea. If you're staying, as we did, in the the top-floor apartment, you find your kitchen being used to cook breakfast.
thank you

Verified reviewHalim was an Amazing host, very accomodating. Rooms were clean and neat, with private bathroom, separate AC, Dinning Table, Wardrobe. Everything exactly as advertised. The staff, namely Chadia is a fantastic help. Halim picked us up at the airport and was available to give tours (Highly Recommend to avoid scammers and overcharge).
This is out of the establishment control but there are stray dogs on the street that will keep you awake if you're not a heavy sleeper. However, Halim can accomodate by providing rooms on the other side of the house so your sleep won't be interrupted.

Verified reviewThe host is so nice and friendly. The breakfast was delicious and buffet-like. There was unlimited water provided to us. Amenities were just fine. The view from the rooftop is amazing.
The only push back would be the location. It is located in a part of Guiza that is too chaotic and although I would not say it is not safe, you may not feel entirely confortable. There are other places in Giza, even closer to the Pyramids with better atmosphere. Getting there is even difficult. Our uber driver got lost even with Waze.

Verified reviewThe apartment was clean and tidy, the breakfast was good with some local and oriental food by two really kind and always smiling girls. Halim was great host, he helped and guided us like a caring father. We went with him Dahsur-Sakkara full day trip and Great Pyramid full day trip for a resonable price. We are really appeiciated. Thank you very much for everything Halim! The Der family. An advice: If anybody wants a hassle free holiday "use" Halim.
Thank you and we wish you a happy life and thank you

Verified reviewWe booked the one-bedroom apartment located on the terrace with a view of the pyramids. There is a walk-up, but it's worth it for the view, especially during the light show. The rooms are air-conditioned and come with a kitchenette, dining table, and a private bathroom. It is situated on a rustic street surrounded by local charm. Halim assured us that the neighborhood was safe, and I felt secure the whole time. The people were also very friendly. Halim was very attentive and helped us with our plans. Depending on our daily tour schedule, he accommodated our breakfast at any time we asked. There are many restaurants in the area. We went a couple of times to the restaurant Dar Darak. The food was delicious and it has fixed-price menus at good prices.
WiFi in the terrace was not that strong at times.

Verified reviewVery good situated with a lovely view of the pyramid. Gohar, the owner, he was super kind and helpful all our stayed; he even drove us to know Saqara desert for a fair price. Breakfast was pretty nice and room very comfortable. We rent two extra nights with him! Thanks so much!
Some of the rooms give to a noise street, where the mosques are a bit loud early in the morning, always good excuse to wake up to and see the sunrise ✨

The rooms are air-conditioned and have private bathrooms. The best of Giza to wake up and have breakfast watching the pyramids in a beautiful view from the terrace. Thank you very much Gohar.

Verified reviewMy friends and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Gohar Guest House and I must say, it was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. However, what really stood out to me was the owner's genuine hospitality. He welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like family from the very beginning. His warmth and kindness made our stay even more special. The Guest House itself is a beautiful oasis, nestled in a serene location with breathtaking views of the Pyramids. The rooms were spacious and immaculate, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. One of the things that really made our stay memorable was the owner's recommendations for things to do and see in the area. He was so knowledgeable about the local attractions and gave us great tips for places to eat and explore. It was clear that he genuinely cared about our experience and wanted to ensure we had the best possible time. What really surprised us was how affordable our stay was. The price was so cheap, yet the quality of the guest house and service exceeded our expectations. Overall, I would highly recommend the Gohar Guest House to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. The owner's hospitality, stunning location, and affordable pricing truly made this a memorable stay for us. We can't wait to come back and visit again soon!

Verified reviewTrying to find reviews that were 100% honest proved challenging, but we can not say enough good things about the property as well as the owner. We arrived at night and the owner promptly greeted us and showed us to our room. The property has such a nice vibe with tables and chairs and two loungers on the patio to watch the sun rise or set with the pyramids as the back drop. We are a family of five and had more than enough space. We had the two rooms upstairs which included a bathroom and TV in the main area. We felt so welcomed our whole stay. Each morning we were woken up by the owner to a nice little breakfast on the patio. The property is only a short walk to the pyramids and a short walk to the main road. Upon leaving the owner packed us a small breakfast which was so thoughtful and kind. With an exceptional host, great location, and amazing value this place is definitely a great one to book.
The property was great but the bathroom due to space was small.
thanks
