Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLeaving.
This was our second stay in the room, Darwin, that looks over the bay. Three sides are glass walls. It’s magnificent and magical during a vacation that is already spellbound by just ‘being here.’ Environmentally friendly in the sense of, whoever you are, wherever you live, you can take home an idea on how to better your own world. I can’t imagine not planning another visit, maybe in a different month, and savor the moment of staying in this fabulous hotel. Truly.

United KingdomWe had a couple of things we felt weren’t great about the property. Firstly, our other hotels on Galapagos were really helpful with pointing us towards trusted providers for tours and we found Blu Galapagos were really reluctant. They even had a sign up advertising last minute tours but when we asked they took the sign down. They said they’d look into it for us as we’d asked about the sign, and would come to our room to update us, but they never got back to us. When we asked again the next day they gave us some individual WhatsApps for people on the island but most didn’t reply. The restaurant within the hotel isn’t affiliated to the hotel, the food there is amazing but they don’t do breakfast, which wasn’t so great as it was all served outside on hot trays from another restaurant given they don’t have a kitchen. The shower goes from boiling hot to freezing cold which was particularly not great after being in the cold ocean all day. The walk from the pier is about 15 minutes, not too bad but probably one of the further hotels in town.
We had a good stay, nice rooms, accommodating, nice to be on the sea which great views. It was very comfortable. The restaurant attached is really nice and it was a real bonus they let us into our room early given it was available and we arrived early.

South AfricaHowever, we booked a junior suite expecting a balcony with an ocean view, as shown in the photos, but this wasn’t the case. Instead, the room had just one small window that partially faced the ocean. The biggest disappointment was that we didn’t have hot water for the entire 5 days of our stay, despite being told it was fixed on day 4. This was a major inconvenience for us.
The location of the property is excellent, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant downstairs was fantastic, and the place felt clean and well-kept.

EcuadorMaybe some comfy pillows can be added in the couple of chairs in the breakfast area to enjoy even more the view.
I loved the hotel! The staff is very friendly, and they helped me with some specific requests I had since I was traveling with our baby. The room we stayed in was very nice and comfy; the hotel has a great place where we had breakfast right in front of the ocean, and from where we saw see lions, iguanas, crabs, birds, fish, etc. The hotel is surrounded by some mangroves, which is lovely, and we refilled our water bottles there. The location is perfect, right next to the Darwin station and the beginning of the town. The Almar restaurant next to it is great and the food is delicious. I highly recommend the hotel!

Quirky, quiet during the day. Loved the shady deck where you could sit and watch the wildlife.

United StatesThat we had to leave and continue on our journey.
Spoiled. Totally spoiled by Blu Galapagos. Everything was over the top perfection. The hotel is on the waterfront near the Charles Darwin Research Center and just enough on the edge of town that you feel isolated yet still within a five minute walk to the heart of this sweet port town. We stayed in the Darwin Suite which is primo for celebrating a loved one or yourself. I’ll be back for sure.

United KingdomHaving restaurant separately owned to hotel. As a resident, Would have like to have had access to the main restaurant decking in the mornings - the breakfast area was very small . Would have liked to be able to have had breakfast on the main decking in the restaurant . Also A bigger outside lounge area would be good - with a couple of sun loungers available !
Fantastic location & away from town centre so very quiet . Easy , quick walk into town . Loved having the turtles & iguanas & seals & pelicans everywhere we looked . Spacious room overlooking the bay . Friendly & helpful staff. Excellent restaurant . Coffee & drinks available 24 hrs per day .

United KingdomThe location was fantastic - when the tide comes in, you can sit at the restaurant/breakfast area and watch the variety of sea life swimming towards you. We saw sharks, turtles, stingrays, fish, sealions swimming around, and then watched blue footed boobies diving for fish, and pelicans too! it was magical!

United StatesThe breakfast could have been better. It's separate from the restaurant itself and we learned that it's coming from an entirely different kitchen. It's open from 6:30-9:30, which is nice since a lot of tours start early. But, we're not sure how often the food was replenished, as it was often cold. The selection was also limited, every day serving a different version of eggs, meat, bread, fruit, coffee and juice. The juice was delicious though, often fresh pressed!
We choose to stay in one of the rooms with a sea view for four wonderful nights, and it was absolutely worth it as we were able to observe the sea lions, pelicans and crabs in the bay, at all times of the day. The shower had hot water and the bed was large and comfortable, both perfect after a long day of exploring. The staff were very helpful - laundry services taking only a few hours. There's a little store on site for convenience, and the restaurant downstairs was very good - we ate there twice! You could also rent bikes for free, which was a nice perk! We also really enjoyed the location. The hotel sits towards the end of the main strip in town, close to many restaurants, bars and shopping and an easy walk to the bus stop and the pier for water taxis and tours (about a 12 minute walk)!
