Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Helpful staff, good AC and hot water, good kitchen, snorkel stuff for rent is a plus. Proximity to the main drag of Puerto Ayora and discount tours offered helped a lot too.

Canada1. the wifi was very weak, only available around the kitchen area, so people just stand, sit there for the reception. 2. hardly find any staff when you need something. there were times people waiting outside the locked gate keep ringing the bell but nobody attended. 3. no space in the room for luggage, no chair, no desk... nothing. even floor space is very limited. 4. kitchen area was dirty sometimes. there is no quiet time control. when there's a large family /group checked in, they partied until late at night making loud noise, affected everyone there.
I guess it is ok for the price.

CanadaTheir dog was barking quite a lot, even one day at 6:30am waking our room up. The owners werent stepping in to try to quiet it down, something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper. Sign on the door is inaccurate for office hours, was hard to get a hold of someone.
Super close to town, and located right beside a laundry service which was great. AC in the room worked great, beds were comfortable with daily housekeeping

AustraliaThey offer snorkel hire for a small cost, although our masks leaked so be careful when hiring the masks that the seal is intact. Some accommodations in the Galapagos offer free snorkel hire which is better if the quality of the equipment isn't great.
Great value place to stay. A/C worked really well and we had a private bathroom. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

United KingdomBathroom could have been cleaner. Also no lockers. Although staff said you could place valuables behind the reception desk, limited opening hours made this unfeasible.
Great location and kitchen was adequately equipped.

NetherlandsThere were a lot of bugs and mosquitoes in the rooms, and there only seemed to be one staff member who was cleaning most of the time, so it was a bit hard to get what you needed from reception.
The beds were really comfortable and the facilities were great.

New ZealandThe wifi didn't reach the room in the back of the building and the charging plugs were a bit dodgy, had to tape one to the wall to use it. Also the shower had not been cleaned.
The staff were very amenable and quick to change our towels etc when needed. The beds were comfortable enough, and there was air-conditioning in the room. There was a kitchen area with cooking utensils, and drinking water, which was very useful.

United StatesThe kitchen is so outdated. Pots and pans are all missing handles. Guests just used the pots and pans, but did not wash them sometimes. We bought our own cooking oil, but someone kept using it, to the point that it's gone after a few days.
The room is clean. The shower is spacious with plenty of hot water. The staff is helpful in arranging for our taxi ride to Los Gamelos and El Chato.

United KingdomSnorkels that we hired were all a bit faulty (even after swapping), would recommend getting these elsewhere. Pool looked very unappealing.
Good location, tucked out the way about 10mins from the action. Good but loud aircon, hot showers and clean rooms. Staff were very friendly and responsive on WhatsApp. Good size kitchen and free drinking water were welcome to keep costs down. Our room only has windows outside (rather than into corridors) so was always quiet.

United KingdomThe wifi didn't really work that well in the bedrooms, so if you need good wifi you'll need to go to the main area (my phone also got worse reception here than other parts of Puerto Ayora).
This was a really cute hostel, in a good location. It is just on the edge of town, near the Darwin Research Station. I loved that the rooms had an in-room A/C unit, which I used at night. Hostel had hot water in the bathroom. Free drinking water in the kitchen area provided, just need to bring your own water bottle.
