Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesOur bathroom had a very strong odor we believe coming from the shower drain. We had to sleep with the bathroom door closed but it still was bothersome. And it is true that the location was excellent right by the Catedral, and catty-corner from the central park. However keep in mind that this location comes with some disadvantages: mainly noise from traffic, the crosswalk beeping and people walking by. Also there is no parking at this hotel. You have to park 2 blocks away for $7.50 per night. The staff wasn't super helpful in getting us connected to wifi in our room - were were never able to... Also they were very slow to respond (3 days and an angry call) to implement a change to our itinerary.
The hotel is beautiful with so many original details in this colonial style house, and you cannot ask for a better location right by the Catedral and park. Our third floor room had the best view of the cathedral domes! Our room was vary spacious. The little kitchen area was very handy. Beds were super comfy.

United StatesThe coffee maker needed replacing and leaked every time I filled it with water. There wasn’t a microwave as advertized. Could do with a cloth, t-towel and detergent.
Location was great! Right next to the square & cathedral, restaurants, everything. Fast WiFi. Above a nice restaurant and breakfast was included and delicious!

Very old hotel but in the best way possible. We felt like kings and queens. Room has very royal vibes and the bathroom is really modern and nice. Directly in the middle of the historic center, so a short walk from anything we needed.

United KingdomEmbarrassingly small breakfast included in the room price. Single glazing windows and central location means rooms are not that quiet. Building is a bit tired, but it’s clean and the bathroom was new.
Period building, transports you to 1800s. Location is amazing, couldn’t be more central and still easy to reach from airport/by car. Rooms are very spacious.

SwitzerlandThe rooms are at the third floor, hence there are quite a few steps to climb up for carring the luggage upon arrival. The bath room is extremely small.
The hotel is 20 meters from the main square and right at the heart of the old city center. The coffee shop, where breakfast is served, is a lovely place to relax and chat with locals. The hotel staff, from the receptionist to the room maid, are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and tidy.

EcuadorRoom was very noisy. The first night, the restaurant downstairs had a really loud music until very late. They didn't provide any bottled water inside the room - not even a water in the common area. We stayed 2 nights but the toilet paper provided wasn't enough (it wasn't even full when it was placed in our room) and they also didnt clean the room after the 1st day. The fridge in the room was very stinky so we didn't put anything inside and didn't open it after opening it once. Breakfast wasn't amazing - pancakes were so hard.
Very central location just right across Tutto Freddo where Parque Calderon is. Room was huge (we had 2 queen sized beds). Toilet looked more modern than the room itself. Has a balcony - although it didn't looked like they spent time making sure it looked good for their guests (the floor was cemented and didnt look and feel safe to be honest). The good thing though is that we had an overlooking view of Negroni/Bogoli Parque Calederon in general.

IrelandThe rooms can be a bit noisy because there is a restaurant on the lower floors.
Friendly and arranging staff. Our flight arrived super early to Cuenca, they took our bags until the room was ready and let us check-in early. The location is great as it is just next to the cathedral and the main visiting spots.

CanadaAlmost every day during my stay there was no power. I was unable to charge my smartphone before the excursion and therefore was unable to take photos during the excursion. I understand that this is not the fault of the hotel, but I was left without photos. If there was no problem, I would have given a rating of 10, but due to this situation I have lowered the rating to 8/
Great location of the hotel in the city center, friendly staff. The room was spacious, but the view was to the courtyard, so you could not hear the noise from the street. Breakfast was good. There was a normal Wi-Fi signal.

United StatesThere wasn't a lobby in the building, so you pay in the cafe. It was a bit awkward. A building like this deserves a nice lobby. Noise, Noise, Noise all night. Bar until after 1 am and then the corner light beeped for 30 seconds every 15 seconds.
The location was great. It is just a few steps to the center of town. The room was huge with a nice balcony. The bed was comfortable and the water was hot when taking a shower.
