How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWell located (despite from some drunk people around the corner) Nice terrace, co-working space and relax area They also offer different kinds of programs during the week
A bit noisy when there is party on the rooftop, the sheets were all plastic so that I would see small flashes every time I would move The food up there seemed quite pricey I felt that there were only guests from Europe or the US

Verified reviewThis hostel was beautiful, clean and well organized with a super helpful staff. I loved the food and the rooftop and thought my room was clean and large with a great bed. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening activities - they helped me meet others and have a great time! Could not recommend this place more for your time in Quito!
Nothing - this hostel exceeded on all points.

Verified reviewNice comfy beds. friendly staff. Good wifi. Nice spaces to work or chill. Good was nice on the top level
One small thing - they consistently blocked off bathrooms around checkout time 9-11am for cleaning. Not very fair for those who want to have a shower or use the facilities before leaving!!!

Verified reviewThe view from the Terras is amazing. The staff is very friendly. Everything was always clean. The historical city center is in walking distance.
The hostal is an a very scetchy neighborhood, during the day there is no problem, but all local people we talked to strongly advised against going out after dark. The warm water in the shower never really worked. The towels provided by the hostel were tattered rags with holes in them.

Verified review- Best dorm room I’ve ever stayed in (privacy curtain, electrical plug and light for each bed, huge storage lockers in the room). - Felt very secure with lots of security codes to keep the guest areas separate from the public areas. - Short walk from historic centre. - Super helpful staff. - Great rooftop patio with really good food and drinks. - Lots of fun activities offered and ideas for tours you can book directly from the hostel.
- The shower water was always super cold every time I showered (it never even got a little bit warm).

Verified reviewGreat staff, great location. Food there was lovely. WiFi was great. Power in lockable drawers. Free water and tea. Sport on TV. Activity most nights, fantastic rooftop view. Airport transfer for same/cheaper that Uber. Right next to a SIM card place, big fresh market and a few blocks from a free ATM for international cards All for $5. What's not to love
Only improvement is beds could have curtains ( I'm being really picky here)

Verified reviewSuper cheap. Staff were super helpful, showed me where to get the cheapest SIM card, free ATM for cash withdrawal and the best local beers. Family dinner was great food and a cool rooftop to chill and hang.
Small downside - No working plug socket in my lockable draw, only one in the room for 6 people which was being used

Verified reviewThe hostel is close to the food market and near the historical centre. The mattress is new and comfortable, the bathrooms are kept clean and the rooftop has a good view of the city. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The kitchen was under renovation. There were many stairs to climb as the hostel is in a three storey building.

Verified reviewWe stayed here twice, before and after our Galapagos trip. We were able to store our luggage for 10 days for free which was amazing. The rooftop is fantastic, the kitchen is well equipped and the shared bathrooms are very clean with excellent showers. The staff were all excellent, especially Ely who gave us lots of helpful advice on tours in Ecuador. Community has a lovely social vibe with lots of activities without feeling like a party hostel. We loved the family dinner! Our second stay was far more comfortable than the first - try and request the "Ochoa" room if you're going for a private room. It is almost twice as big as the "Climber" room, with towels provided and a much more comfortable bed (for the same price!). The Climber was very noisy as music and traffic drifted down from the rooftop from 8am until after 11pm. Bring a good pair of earplugs if this would bother you, but overall I would definitely recommend staying here!

Verified reviewGreat friendly helpful staff Close to the historic center Awesome terrace with community activities
Shower went cold after 2 minutes Location is not great, it's a quick walk to a better area though. Pretty noisy if you have a room onto the market side

Verified reviewVery clean. Helpful staff.
The big dorm is far too small for 10 beds. The hostel might be an option for those seeking for party places, but the loud music is continuous and overwhelming until 11 pm.
