How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Verified reviewAnnabel was a very gracious host and made sure we were well cared for. The breakfast was tasty, and the central location was nice. There was even a little artisan market out front on the day of our departure. I would recommend staying here for a good value in Quito.

Verified reviewHotel Cayman staff were very friendly and helpful. They were a delightful welcome at the start of my trip in Ecuador. They prepared a lovely breakfast and the room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The wifi was also very good.
Although the location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Quito, the nearby bars were rather noisy at night. Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever and I would love to stay at the hotel again sometime.

Verified reviewThe ladies who take care of the hotel are really doing a great job. I was a bit unlucky to have some backpain for a few days, but they helped me really well. They arranged a meeting with a doctor and made sure I could get my breakfast in my room. The rooms are good with high quality beds and they take good care if your room needs cleaning. such a positive vibe. I liked the place, good breakfast, good location and very helpful and friendly staff. Thank you!

Verified reviewStaff were friendly and spoke pretty good english Breakfast was good. Filtered water and hot drinks were always available. A lot of eating and drop off laundry options close by. Quite a safe part of town. This part of Quito must have been humming pre covid, as there are so many accommodation places still not open? We used Uber alot from here and it was quite reasonable, even with our weak NZ dollar.
Not much hot water, Luke warm at best. Our beds were uncomfortable. Worst of all internet was erratic and weak or non existent as we used our sim cards data most of the time

Verified reviewFantastic service. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious. Location close to numerous restaurants and several convenience stores. Rooms maintained daily. This is a comfortable but basic accommodation for those looking for a clean and pleasant place to sleep. If you need a spa grade experience, look elsewhere.

We were there on a weekend and although many people here say it is calm - it is not at weekends. Really loud, couldn't get much sleep (stayed there 2 nights)

Verified reviewThis place is amazing I loved every second of it. The warm and welcoming staff not only that but they also gave me great advice about the city even called me a taxi for the airport. The food was served warm with delicious fruit and natural juice and coffee. Even the cleaning done to the room was outstanding everything was super clean with fresh sheets every morning. When i return to Quito i have to come back to this amazing hotel. Definitely recommend it

Variety for breakfast could be better (same choice all the time, no meat and desert options). You need to ring a bell each time you leave/enter the property (I guess this is the same for all hotels in Quito). Overall this was an excellent stay.

Verified reviewwell, everyone saying the staff was nice is an understatement. they are extremely caring, friendly and they go out of their way to help you and feel welcome, even just little things. we had a wonderful stay for two nights. the room is so beautiful and very clean and comfy. breakfast was nice too. also the location of the hotel is right in a well known cute tourist area where there is loads and loads of really nice restaurants (lots of veggie options)!
it's quite cold inside (not the hotels fault - it's in almost all the houses/restaurants/hotels in Quito), so dont forget to bring slippers. In the evening they therefore start the fireplace which is lovely to sit in the common area.

Verified reviewBreakfast was great. Coffee from coffee maker. Bread was good. Fruit excellent per usual in Ecuador. Eggs made to guest liking. Kitchen very clean. Could eat breakfast in beautiful gardens Bed was comfortable. Duvet with cover was used with great pillow. Was pleasantly surprised. Hotel very clean. Staff welcoming.
