How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe stayed one night in the studio which did not suit us because of the noise and ended up changing room to stay in the 1 bedroom apartment and loved it! The bed is so comfortable and the kitchen is perfect for cooking. We also loved the rooftop and the hammock! We stayed for 4 nights and could have stayed much longer. Maike is great, super easy to reach by phone and makes sure all the guests are happy. We will be back! Thank you!

Verified reviewThe location is close to the kite surf beach but far from the restaurants, we had to take a moto taxi and pay approximately 100 pesos every time per person to get to the center. The room was clean, the garden has nice flowers. The A/C was working and the wifi was good.
The bed was veeery soft so we both woke up with our backs hurting. We slept veeeery badly, woke up 1000 times because of the noice of the street, people and dogs… Moreover at 3am there was a cacroach in the bathroom… We left after one night to a more quite and confortable place.

We are not a luxury hotel, but strive to give the basic comforts such as a clean bed, a private bathroom with a hot shower, cold AC and fast internet. Most guests like our mattresses and most of the mattresses we have are fairly new with the older ones being regularly replaced. We also strive for a very clean hotel, unfortunately, it is located in the tropics in a very hot and humid climate, so even with lots of cleaning, roach poison (where safe to use) and complimentary housekeeping as often as guests want, we also have to count on our guests not leaving any food outside to keep roaches away. We try everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as can be, but yes, if you are looking for a 5-star hotel, Kite House is not your accommodation! If you just want an affordable place to stay close to Kite Beach that has all the essentials and staff that works very hard every day to make your stay as pleasant as possible, we are looking forward to welcoming you again!

The road nearby is REALLY noisy, with truck and motorcycle going by all night long. Bring earplugs.

Verified reviewPractically on the beach. The rooms are very spacious and the kitchen is welll equipped. The beds are one of the most comfortable I have had in the last couple of months traveling. The personal is very friendly and helpfull and know the area and transport options wel. There are some restaurants around but if you prefer to cook you can walk 20 min / take a moto taxi (100 pesos) to the big supermarket in town. Would stay again!

Verified reviewThe location is very good, right next to Kite beach, on the main road. The room was nice , clean, and well equipped . Beautiful and large terrace, but it was inconvenient for us to use it as part of another building .
We knew it was going to be noisy, but trust me, it was very noisy. Even with earplugs provided, it was still difficult to sleep. It's too expensive . The staff / manager's attitude when we arrived was not very nice .

Loads of noisy traffic out front, crossing road to beach can be dangerous, no fault of the Hotel. Would be nice to have a microwave!

Verified reviewThe property manager Henri is extremely helpful, he helped me to get a motor which you can keep in the garden during the evening, he also helped me to hail a guagua for my next stop. They are visibly investing a lot to maintain the facilities and the shower and rooftop is amazing with basic gym equipment too. They also provide drinking water which is super. You can't deny that it is indeed loud due to the proximity of the main road but this is the sacrifice to be close to the kite beach. The bed was too soft for my taste.

Verified reviewIt was so close to everything. Once we got our bearings of where things were, this is a prime location to connect to the beach and kiteboarding scene. The staff were amazing and quickly provided whatever was needed!
We were warned the room was facing the street and noisy, the rooms have thin walls so you can hear your neighbours, the traffic and the rooster. The spiral staircase was questionable at first but we quickly got used to it.

Verified reviewThe place was close to the beach, and the host even arranged a parking spot for us in front of the gate, which was very convenient. The accommodation was freshly furnished and had everything we needed in the kitchen—I especially appreciated the large water barrel, fridge, and basic cooking essentials. It was also the first place in the Dominican Republic where we had no issues with hot water or water pressure! A peaceful spot to relax after beach days and definitely great value for the money.

Really noisy , even if we read that previously but is seriously on top of the street ( we had the room on the street ). You can really hear everything and there is no parking too so we park on the street basically .

Verified reviewHenri was very helpful. I was moved from an upstairs studio to a downstairs 1 bedroom at no charge. This was greatly appreciated as I have a bad knee and the stairs were challenging. Kite Beach is just across the street as well as a few restaurants.
Bugs- lots of mosquitoes, fruit flies and one day a swarm of horse flies came in. I have no idea how but it was horrible.
