How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Its not a 5-star hotel, but for the price it’s perfect! Only thing I didn’t see is that there’s no hot water (not in all the rooms at least), but it was warm enough to cope ☺️

Verified reviewNely showed much kindness, by picking me up from the airport, and helping me when I was ill. She provided a very filling breakfast. I felt very comfortable spending time at the apartment, especially on the little balcony.
Nely and Pietro were not so friendly. It may be me, or maybe just a culture thing, in that English is not their first language.
Dear Mr. Keith, I am really not surprised by your very low score towards me. Because the more I try to help guests with some difficulties in a timely manner, the more ungrateful they are, but it does not matter because what I did with you is called love for one's neighbor and I was educated knowing that an action is worth more than a thousand words and what I did with you. When I saw that you were sick and I paid a doctor for you to consult and paid for your medical treatment, I took care of you with tea and soup and everything that was within my reach. If I did not dedicate time to sit and share on the terrace with you, I am sorry but you already saw my efforts and my commitment is to make your vacation as pleasant as possible, but that does not only depend on me but also on your point of view. Verified reviewThis place is great! Nelly was super nice! She made breakfast every morning! The breakfast was delicious! They were great places to eat nearby! Like Mar de Rincón! Booking offered a great rate for a ride from the airport! The best rate I was able to find. The bed was big and comfortable! Wi-Fi was good. Make sure to ask about the hot water switch. Nelly provided cold water for drinking.
The place was on the third floor with no elevator. Getting my things up the stairs was a pain. I was 100% stay there again!

It's probably the smallest private room I've ever stayed in. A bathroom converted to a room! 1.80 x 1.60 the 'room' and 1.80 X 1.20 the bathroom WITHOUT door
Hello Robert, after thanking you for your good score for cleanliness, and confirming that exactly as we have published, this room is 6 square meters and is exactly like the photo without any alteration, otherwise we are no more than 10 minutes from the beach as the satellite location will indicate and walking about 20 minutes but that brings other advantages and as I say we are pleased that our guests get the best of their stay, it would be very important for guests to look not only at the price but at the difference they can make 2 or 3 dollars when choosing your bedroom since breakfast and attention is the same for each guest, hoping that it ends with a wonderful vacation Nely and Pietro share apartment

Verified reviewWe began our first ever visit to the Dominican Republic with a 5-night stay at Nely and Pietro's place. Nely picked us up at Punta Cana airport, and gave us an informative drive back to their home. During our stay, they helped us to adapt to life in the Republic, and to make decisions about our travel plans for the following 3 weeks. With our own bedroom and bathroom, we had plenty of privacy, but were able to freely use the shared kitchen to prepare other meals. And, of course, having breakfast ready for us each morning was a treat (several options available). The location is very good in a typical residential area, with the beach about 40 minutes walk away, and the Bavaro bus station (for Santo Domingo, Higuey, etc) just 15 minutes walk. Nely and Pietro are welcoming and friendly hosts who we found to be very helpful, despite our very weak Spanish and Italian
