Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe lunch options at the pool were minimal unless you went inside to east but that required full clothing attire. The Ziva side had simpler food for allergies- lunch was all premade on the Zilara side and no substitutions for wraps etc. Honestly the service at the cabana was the worst service we only saw her once for drinks. But you can walk or swim to the bar. Didn’t catch her name but it was not the lovely mayreni. We did have some drink ingredients go out of stock over the week but if you’re a picky drinker an all inclusive isn’t always the best anyways. And there was a bit of seaweed but it’s that time of year they can’t clean the ocean 🤣. The beach was clean though. None of this would prevent me from coming back
Upon entry the staff was very friendly, our room was ready early and the welcome cocktail was delicious. The room was spacious and clean and our location was quiet. The pool was gorgeous and refreshing. PLENTY of chairs. The beach is also a private short walk and there were many chairs. The staff was phenomenal- mayreni and Alfred really made you feel remembered. Also had a great sense of humor. The activities were nice, we didn’t do many but that was just a personal choice. The gym had just about everything- we didn’t use it much because we were trying to just relax. All the restaurants were clean and accommodating to allergies. I liked the lunch grille by the pool daily. We tried just about all of the restraints. Italian and Caribbean were our favorites. Cocktails were nice at the pool, restaurants, and bars. We rented a cabana which was very comfortable. Overall a very very nice stay.

United StatesI wish you could buy a day pass for the spa. Especially when it’s not as busy in the hotel. The food was very health conscious, lots of great fitness options and not having access to a sauna/steam room (even for pay) is a miss. They could use more entertainment at night. Not every night. But literally everything closes down at 11. It would be nice to have a night or 2 a week with an option to dance/socialize later. Other resorts do dancing on the beach or small dance club options.
Beautiful hotel. Not too big, but enough to wander to different areas. Staff was super nice. Room spacious and clean. Pool area was awesome. Food was all very good. We loved the Club cafe and lounge. I loved the covered seating options at the club pool.

PeruThere should be more activities after 11 pm for adults only. Something like the Sports bar, but just for adults.
Everything. Nice beach, excellent property and facilities, excellent service, the staff was great, the spa was amazing too and the water park was fun! the food was very good. Loved the wide variety of options at the Pier, and had very pleasant moments at both, the Italian and the French restaurants. Loved the fact that had activities like the wine tasting and the Mexican night.

United StatesI wouldnt say any of these are complaints, but moreso suggestions for improvements. 1) Add a bar on the adults side that replicates the family side. Each night, the sports bar was full of teenagers who locked down the pool tables and seating. We would have loved to play pool/throw darts or something in the evening. There should be something for the adults like this. 2) The butelr, who was great and always there for us, should include a more comprehensive tour when you show up. We found the family buffet and went there the first two nights not knowing there was an adult side. I know it was listed, but we just didnt notice it until night 3. The quality was mostly equal, but there were different options on both sides. 3) For what we paid, I think it would make sense for the hotel to include the taxi fare each way. We booked our own and on the way back to the airport, ours was a no show. This was no fault of the hotel and they secured a taxi for us to help us get back, but i think the back and forth aspect is a little stressful and could be mitigated with this perk. Its probably at a cost of 50-60 bucks for the hotel for a round trip commitment. 4) I dont have a problem with this at all, but for anyone really looking to party, this isnt it. We came to relax, spend time together alone, and enjoy the activities. We knew this was the atmosphere going in. This is more for anyone looking to Spring Break it here thinking there will be night life and a club or something. This isnt that kind of place.
We spent a considerable amount of time researching places and kept going back to this one. We found it struck the best balance of having things to do, but also being able to relax. We loved the water park, we enjoyed the activities led by Manuel, Bryan, and Diomedes, found the staff to always be friendly and helpful, and loved the grounds on both the family and adults side. The beach was super clean and the staff spent a considerable effort keeping it that way. We never dealt with bugs which i found to be surprising considering the temps were in the 80's and it was still humid. The food options were plenty even for picky eaters and the bars were fun. We loved that you could rent kayaks, snorkel gear, or sail boats for free and it was essentially effortless outside of signing a waiver. There were things for my wife to do and things i could go do. We really liked this place and want to send a special thanks to Bryan, Manuel, and Diomedes who were a blast to hang around. They really made the trip that much better.

United StatesIf this is the worst thing, then....not too bad! The only thing that needs to change is the buffet restaurant.... you were not able to self-serve anything, nothing, which created long wait times for a piece of toast in the bread line, and cheese in another line, and scramble egs in another, so on and so on. The food was great, but standing in four/five lines for a meal needs to change as it took 10/15 minutes to gather your meal.
Had a swim up pool room, very clean and spacious. Was a nice to have this room but not nessassary if looking to save some money as the pools, beach and grounds are great. The food and drinks were excellent! Often the mixers at resorts are not good, but all were great here, no complaints. We were there with another couple for big birthday celebration, 5 nights.. Had a great meal at all restaurants, favorite restaurant was Journeys, sat in the rail car. The best beach I've been to in that part of the world, it was clean, no one selling you anything because it is private, and water was blue chest deep for 25ft from the shore with no merky grass spots. Staff were super attentive and friendly. It is one of the first places I said I'd go back to versus trying new resorts. I don't write reviews but felt compelled to do so here as I was really impressed.

United StatesWe thought the dinners were below average with the exception of Tempest. We ate at all the other restaurants. We did not try the butcher because several people told us temperature in restaurant was too cold. If the dinners were better we would rate the property a 9 or 10 but the sub par dinners made our rating an 8. The dinners are what may hold us back from returning to Zilara and trying another property.
Breakfast and Lunch were excellent. We loved the service buffets vs having them open to the guests where everyone’s hands are in the food. We appreciated having real glasses at the bars and not plastic. We loved the property and location. Check in process was quick and efficiently smooth. We appreciated the extra curricular activities. Beach was nice. Staff was outstanding.
