How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewBeautiful property and owners are very welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool has a good size and the water was very clean.
We had a challenge with the internet. It was constantly cut off. Streaming anything was not possible. We also would have liked to have a coffee maker in the room. Other than for breakfast the property has no coffee. You have to venture into town to get it.

If you had asked us for coffee, we would have served it to you with great pleasure. For coffee makers in the room, we do not offer this service because it would only increase the price of the night for everyone. Regarding the Wi-Fi, if you check the comments of all our guests, you will see that people say the connection is very good. Sorry that your device could not pick up the Wi-Fi properly.

Verified reviewFairly new property in very good and very clean condition (as per the pictures) located in-between the main beach of Las Galeras and La Playita (~10mn walk each). Very quiet at night, so good night sleep 100% assured. Super safe. Amazing hosts who made our stay memorable. Value for money. We would definitely stay there again. Las Galeras has been the highlight of our 2-week holiday.

Verified reviewEverything was perfect 👌 The owners were so nice, accommodating, and made sure that everything was as perfect as possible! I can’t say enough good things about it. But I’ll try! A/C was ice Cold. Nice hot water in shower. Everything was super clean! Bed was comfortable. Security was great. Pool was clean and well taken care of. Very beautiful floral and fruit trees. Breakfast was delicious and very fair additional price. Owners had great recommendations for exploring the local area and places to eat. The town more felt safe to walk around than some other places we have visited, especially in the evening. The bungalow is walking distance to TWO great beaches and even a cave to explore!

Verified reviewThe shared areas such as the garden and pool are very beautiful, well kept and peaceful. The room was very comfortable, clean and nice. Same for the bathroom. The hotel is very close to a gorgeous beach called La Playita. The best part of our stay was meeting the hosts, who are very welcoming and attentive to anything we may need. Would definitely recommend for others to stay here and would personally come back.
It would be nice to maybe include a TV. The rest is perfect.

Verified reviewThe hotel's location is off the main road and down a small road. The area is near restaurants and within walking distance of Playa Las Galeras. The hotel is pretty new and has about 5-7 bungalows. We were the only guests since it was the down season. The owners were able to accommodate early check-in, but we ended up arriving at check-in time and appreciated the flexibility. We only stayed one night and didn't use the pool. The bungalow is one room with a bathroom. There is no door in the bathroom only a curtain. The shower doesn't have a door or curtain so the water got all over the rest of the bathroom floor. The room has both an AC and fan.
We booked this hotel because it included breakfast but when we checked in we were told it was 500 pesos/$10 USD per person for coffee, fruits, and bread. We asked if they had a Dominican breakfast option like tres golpes/mangu and they didn't know what we were talking about. Being a hotel in the Dominican Republic and knowing the national breakfast/meal is very important. Also, no coffee was offered or available in the room. We were not able to pay by card, it is cash only. We also had to pay a cash deposit for the main gate key. We received the deposit back after returning the keys at check-out.
Dear customer, first of all we are sorry that you did not use the swimming pool, we even authorized you to go there after the legal closing time. Maybe you don't have a swimsuit? When you left, you assured us that you slept well and had a very good stay. In the bathroom, when you shower, do you know there is water? We give our customers a floor mat specifically for this. Photos of our rooms and bathroom are available on the reservation site. For the rest, it is really necessary that we respond to your comment because it is simply incorrect. First of all, I would like to inform you that everything is written on booking.com regarding the hotel conditions. If you had actually looked at food and drinks you would have seen that breakfast is optional at 500 pesos (8$ and not 10$), continental and American. Why would we be obliged to offer a Dominican lunch??? You have indicated America and English as your country of origin on your reservation (even if you gave me your Dominican identity document). So, I understand that you miss the Dominican breakfast but in this case you have to book in a hotel that offers it. I also inform you that we know Dominican cuisine very well (sancocho, locrio, pollo asado...) having tasted them at our Dominican friends in Las Galeras. As for the tres golpes con mangu lunch, we had the opportunity to taste it in various places around the country. The same goes for in-room coffee, we do not provide room service, for this you must read the conditions when booking. However, if you had asked us, perhaps we could have made an exception and brought it to you. In the hotel conditions it is also stated that we only accept cash payment. You have to read!!! In conclusion, given your reservation criteria and requirements, we strongly advise you to read the reservation conditions carefully. This will prevent you from giving false information about the establishments you are going to visit.

Verified reviewWe loved everything about this place. The hosts were very friendly and attentive. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were perfectly climate controlled. The breakfasts were amazing. Location was perfect, close to town and easy walk to La Playita, my favorite beach.

Verified reviewVery warm and friendly hosts. Nice, clean and modern rooms. A very good shower with good water pressure and hot water (I mention this because this is not always the case in Dominican Republic). Nice atmospheric lights at the small pool.
I missed a small refrigerator. But after talking to the hosts, they told me that they are planning this in the (near) future.

Verified reviewThe bungalows are located in a side road which is very quiet. Still the Main Street with a bank and lots of restaurants and shops is only a three minute walk away. Similarly the beaches of Las Galeras are easily reached by foot. We didn’t bring a car but there’s ample of secure parking available. The two hosts created a great atmosphere and a delicious breakfast which we enjoyed every day. They helped us out with everything; from arranging taxis to trips and giving useful tips. The pool and all amenities are kept exceptionally clean. One thing to consider when booking is that there’s no door between the bathroom and bedroom.

Verified reviewThe owners were very friendly and helpful. The bungalows are cute and have everything we needed for 2 nights. It felt safe and we could walk to the beach and restaurants. We could park our car inside, although there's limited space so be sure to contact them before.

Verified reviewThe pool was super, with plenty of sun during the most of the day. The air conditioner was working perfectly, which is very important in this area. The property was very quiet taking into account that Dominican Republic can be noisy with all the motorbikes and music, we could sleep pretty well. The owners were so kind and helpful, really lovely couple.
The have a parking inside, but because they ask for a cash deposit for the key, we needed to park outside (from 10PM that is the time they lock it) because we did not have enough cash on us, so take it into consideration if you want your car to be inside.

Verified reviewVery helpful French hosts. Room was very clean, had lots of storage options and was quite new. 15 minutes by foot to both beaches in Las Galeras. Breakfast was nice (not included). The hotel is in a very quiet area.
You should really like your partner since there is no door to the bathroom. The hotel is new and might not be known by some drivers. It is a few minutes away from the main street on a dirt road, which wasn't a problem for us.

Verified reviewI had 4 great days in Bungalow Colibri. Sylvie and Yveric are very hospital and helpful people. They made such a great place to stay in the middle of Las Galeras. It’s close to shop, bank and 10-15 min walk from beach. I loved so much the room, the peaceful surroundings and swimming pool. Room was clean, spacious and look exactly like on the pictures. I had breakfast and it was delicious (I tried both versions). Great start for a day. Sylvie and her husband took a good care of me during my stay: they answered for all my questions and were available on phone. They know the neighbourhood well and can give you a great recommendations for trips and help with booking a tour. I recommend from the bottom of my heart to stay at Bungalow Colibri in Las Galeras! Thank you for your hospitality :-)
