Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsA lot of noise from the square with the bars. Not an issue for use but be aware.
Small simpel hotel right in the center of the city.

United KingdomUnfortunately we realised after our first night that there is a nightclub (Mel’s) right underneath the hotel that on certain nights (the 2 nights we stayed here!) it is open until 3am with lots of young people outside drinking & chatting on the streets literally outside our room and load music. This slightly tainted the otherwise excellent location for us.

AustraliaLovely heritage hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was simple but comfy. Conveniently situated around the corner from the Schloss Heidelberg. The whole area is very picturesque, lots of places to eat right at your doorstep. Heidelberg is a university town and on a Saturday night, all the kids like to hang out in the square right next to the hotel. Sadly they kept up the noise all night.

HungaryThe interiors (with the exception of the ground floor) are in need of renovation. The window frame almost came out of place when the window was opened in my room.
The staff (reception, breakfast staff) are very nice, the breakfast is delicious. The location is very good, in the heart of old Heidelberg. I also liked the view from the room window.

United KingdomThe room was generally clean, except for a few details. E.g. corners were dusty and the shower doors were a bit moldy. The pillows were a bit lumpy.
Staff were friendly, great location. Good value.

United StatesLiterally the only downsides: a large stain on the carpet, the rooms were a little dated but clean, and the breakfast options weren't very hearty, but it seemed standard for European hotel breakfasts.
This was a great location right on one of the old town squares! It's about a 15 minute walk from the Heidelberg Aldstadt train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the dining room pristine, and the breakfast had a variety of quality, light foods.

AustraliaSee above! It’s worth it so as to enjoy everything this beautiful town has to offer.
Clean room, great staff and quite adequate breakfast for the price. Certainly, it’s a very central location, great for exploring and enjoying the town, but note that on a Friday and Saturday night you may get to enjoy the parties people are having in the street below you until quite late. For us mid 60’s road tripping Aussies it wasn’t too much of an issue, but if you’re so precious about those things, you have been warned! It’s ageing a bit, it’s not 5 star, and no lift (again, you have been warned!) but on balance, great value for money. Out your front door and you’re right in the centre of town. Car parking very close by, and (in January) we could drive in to drop off and collect our luggage in the pedestrian zone.

NetherlandsNo lift. Do not recommend if you travel with big luggage. The room assigned to us with floor tilted, so as the bed, you feel you head is laying lower and feet higher while you are on the bed. The shower is not good, small water come out and cannot easily control the water temperature (too hot)
Good location. Breakfast is ok, not much choice but quality is ok. Useful and kind staff.

NetherlandsIt’s old, no airconditioning, but opening windows was also not an option - too noisy from people partying in restaurants outside! No elevator and no parking. So you need to drag your luggage first from the paid parking in two blocks away (you may potentially drop you luggage at the door, but in our case there was an event in a city and the street was blocked), then up to your floor. I didn’t have an impression this hotel was a good value for paid money.
We booked because of location and because they had “family rooms” (we’re a family of 5). Breakfasts was ok, and I especially appreciated tea served in tea pots.

ChinaNoise of voices in the midnight from the pubs nearby.
Its location is very very good. It's just by the plaza of the church, the very center of the city. Many people sit at the plaza for drinking and dining. So, it is not quiet. Our family is at the corner of two small alleys. There is a small Cafe just below our room by the alley. Therefore it is noisy. Many young people drinks and talks for the whole night until about 4am in the morning! Although the window is closed, we can still hear some voices. But we can still go to sleep quickly because, you know, it is very tired when travelling. The breakfast is simple and good. The family room is very large. We are satisfied with the room and beds.. Parking is not far away with discount from the hotel.
