How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe service and presentation of the hotel was excellent. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful on the occasions I had to ask for help. The breakfast selection was superb and all very tasty. Rooms were spacious comfortable and clean. Great location for local buses and the train station wasn’t far away.
Nothing really

Verified reviewI really liked the location of the hotel; it is right in the center. The most important thing is that there is parking nearby, which is free at night. I also liked that there is a lot around — it’s the city center and there are many restaurants, so you can take a walk. Everything is very convenient. The hotel itself offers breakfast, which is very good. The staff is friendly, and the hotel has an elevator, even though it’s a very old building. The rooms are nice, with a great view from the window. Overall, it’s an excellent hotel.
There are some aspects that I personally did not like very much. The mattresses were not very comfortable for me, and the bedding quality was not great either. I mean the synthetic blankets and pillows, which were not very comfortable. Another small downside was that my room was not cleaned very well. I kept finding other people’s black hairs both in the shower and on the floor of the room.

Verified reviewThe room was neat and clean. The windows could open to ventilate the room. The bathroom was perfectly utilated and the water pressure was great. When it comes to the breakfast, the food was excellent and diverse. One could choose any variety of dishes. The bar staid open even past breakfast, until 11 PM, which made it comfortable to lounge at the reception-restaurant area. The building is historical and it has goregeous decorations on the facade, and intricate carvings at the lounge area. It makes for a unique an interesting stay, especially for history/architecture lovers. The staff was so kind as to share an envelope with the history of the building at check-out.
I loved the staff and how friendly and accommodating they could be. The check-in period lasts until 11 PM, which makes late check-ins possible, especially if arriving by train and experiencing delays.

Verified reviewStayed here twice in two different rooms and had two very different experiences! Breakfast was amazing both times. Lots of hot and cold dishes to choose from. Staff were also superb. Our family of 4 shared the suite and it was incredible! Huge - 3 bedrooms, 2 bedrooms and 2 terraces! Highly recommend!
Four of us shared a family room which was small and rather dated, and decor was disappointing given how beautiful the ground floor is. We stayed in the suite afterwards and couldn’t believe the contrast in the rooms.

Verified reviewThe location, building and breakfasts were fantastic. Apartment good for a couple who’re ok in a very normal sized double bed- then a Greta seating area and nice feeling being within the sky-line of the city. Quiet apart from one night.
I’m glad it was super hot weather- it was hot enough at around 22 deg! The long/thin layout didn’t really suit using the sofa bed (maybe sofa being in end would have been better) But it was ok- if only beds/sofa had been more comfy. Maybe heat didn’t help and we’re not so fond of soft beds. Glad we didn’t plan to eat in as hardly any cutlery (we would have asked!) and minimal cooking equipment- not even a coffee machine , kettle only in wobbly plug and no coffee/tea bags. Not even complimentary milk. No where to hang up towels. So I felt for the price it was a bit crazy- paying for location (and breakfast!) only.

Verified reviewThe hotel is super nice with a personality. And the breakfast was very, very good.
Parking process was a bit messy for us, as we were arriving in the middle of the night. We were with a roof box, so the close underground parking advised by the hotel was not an option. After some searching, we found an open air parking down the street, maybe 700 meters away.

Verified reviewLocation was good - on the edge of the very crowded Old City, so it's easy to amble around there, but if you want to get out of that, it's easy. There are hotels closer to the train station, but this was fine. We had bikes and the bike parking space was fine (essentially a large airshaft type space within the hotel). The breakfast is outstanding - both the dining room and the food provided.
The biggest concern was the bathroom. Definitely a compact space, but nothing we weren't expecting. The bigger problem was that the bathroom had a wet dog kind of smell - and then after I washed a few things in the sink, the water from the sink caused a bunch of blackish water to come up in the shower. Maybe because Konstanz is such a heavy tourist destination, the staff (with a few exceptions) seemed to be pretty disengaged.

Verified reviewThe location.
The hotel was old and in bad condition. The rooms were too small, for moving around and a lot of items were broken. The safe was on the floor and unaccessible for me (71 years old). The shower stall was so small that we could enter it only sideways. For cleaning the room, the staff needed between 5 to seven hours.

Verified review+The staff made everything possible for my stay to be pleasant, including the early check-in and changing the room since the top-floor room was very hot due to the heat wave, +33 C! +The breakfast was great - röstbif, salmon, fresh fruits, pastries - all of good quality +Value for money is very good
-As I mentioned, the rooms were hot and there was no conditioning (it was not promised either - I just myself did not pay attention; so the description of facilities was correct). I don't think it is a problem for most of the summer days but during the 33oC it was hot (as probably in all hotels without proper conditioning...) -The traffic on the neighboring street may impact the sleeps, especially if the windows are open.
