How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt is situated in a quiet area. Close to the Castle and Monastery. The breakfast was alright and restocked throughout.
The location makes it inevitable to use the tram to get in and out. It takes 30 mins to get to the city centre. The tv in my room did not work

Verified reviewGreat location, has an elevator and decent breakfast.
The room had too much furniture in it, no space for my luggage. The bathroom shower holder was broken, the older gentleman working the front desk was not friendly.

Verified reviewIt was okay room and safety in the area around. Close to the tram which is cheap.
The staff at the hotel were not very welcoming or helpful. One were quiet rude actually which you do not expect at a tourist destination like Prague.
The check-out time that you agree to when you make the reservation can't be changed because of the hotel occupancy and has nothing to do with the kindness of the staff... The same is with the check-in time.

Verified reviewNice, upkeep was done, it was lovely inside on the first glance. The restaurant where the breakfast was - very nice
The twin beds were put together to form bigger bed - fine, common in Central Europe, however the kept slipping apart during the night, so it wasn’t the most comfortable sleep. And uhm the carpet was quite dirty - like I dropped a tissue and when I picked it up there was an eyelash and then I noticed the hair as well…

I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the behaviour of the night shift staff member during my recent stay. The experience was extremely distressing and unacceptable. The staff member was aggressive, rude, and completely unprofessional in his conduct. When I asked him a simple question about where I could park my car, he responded with hostility, saying: “There is no fucking place to park, you should have looked at the website properly before you applied.”* Shocked by his tone, I asked why he was so angry and aggressive. He then told me: “It’s not your fucking business.”* His behaviour made me and others feel genuinely unsafe — I was honestly worried that he might physically attack us. He treated us with complete disrespect, as if we were worthless. I have stayed in many places over the last 20 years, but I have never encountered such rude and threatening behaviour from a staff member. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable and has left a very negative impression on your establishment. I request that this incident be taken seriously and investigated promptly. I also ask that you respond to let me know what actions will be taken to ensure other guests are not subjected to similar treatment in the future.
This review is not true and is not based on reality. The staff was not rude and did not use the expressions that the guest wrote here. This staff member has been working at the hotel for 13 years and the reviews are quite positive and here it is evident that the guest not only wants to damage the reputation of the staff, but also of the hotel. When asked about parking, it was said: It is written on the booking that parking is not possible here. No vulgarity was used by the staff. The guest asked 5 times where he could park, the staff told him 5 times where parking was possible, and the answer from the guest was: But our car is on the other side. Reception: there is a blue parking zone for residents and after 6 times, they were told where to park. It is worrying for us if we have it written on the booking that parking is not possible, and this the guest do not want to respect it and require parking in the resident zone in front of the hotel, and do not want to understand that they cannot park there. Payment and bill: the guest wanted a company bill, the staff asked him to write the company details on paper, which he then transcribes into the program that prints the bill. The guest wrote the details so illegibly that it was impossible to read a single letter, so he showed them on his mobile phone and handed it to the staff. The phone was so dirty and greasy that it was bad from a hygiene point of view, but the staff endured it and wrote the company details on the bill. In the case of such false reviews, it is possible that soon no one will want to work at the reception of any hotel, because not only must the receptionist behave decently, but the guest should also behave decently and not behave in a way that is something more and the staff must listen to him at his word. For next time we would be happy if this guest finds accommodation in another hotel and does not stay in our hotel. Hotel Wilhelm Manager responce: Completely unacceptable is your evaluation, which is just one big lie. 1. The staff member is a professional with long experience and proven skills. 2. He has never been aggressive to you, which was easy to check from the camera records. 3. WE DON'T OFFER ANY PARKING. THIS IS NOTED ON THE WEB. REASONS SUCH A "WE CHECKED ON THE GOOGLE STREET VIEW, AND THERE WERE PARKED CARS" OR "BUT I THINK IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE WITHOUT ANY PARKING PLACE" HAVE NO MEANING AND ARE NOT A MIRACLE FORMULA FOR APPEARING OF THE PARKING. 4. The words you wrote were never part of my colleague's dictionary, and I don't believe he used them the first time because of you. 5. You were two people, who are "the others"? 6. "...feel genuinely unsafe..."- please, check point 2. 7. The experience doesn't give you a right to lie and invent non-existent problems; on the contrary, the person with experience will know that this kind of evaluation is not working anymore on the way you wish. This way I'm responding according to your wishes. I consider the case closed. Kind regards, D. Dimitrov, Manager
