How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

the hotel is not in karlovy vary itself, so if you don't have a car, it's worth taking this into account. uber and bolt don't work in this place. But there is a real forest and amazing air around

The cleaning lady kept taking towels and didn't bring some new ones. We asked a few times for towels and it didn't happen. We didn't have enough soap and shampoo too.

Verified reviewThe staff and the location is amazing! A splendid place to use as a base for visits to Karlovy Vary or simply to hike, which we did every day of our stay. Strongly recommend!
Some of the facilities (jacuzzi) were not turned on despite several guests being in the pool area. The bathroom had some non-functional elements (the intimate wash). Some of the furniture would do with a make over (headpost on the bed, scratches on furniture).

The place is in the mountains and roads are very narrow. You need to get used to them :)

Verified reviewNice place, comfortable beds, parking lot in front of the hotel; pool and spa area even if not very large, I enjoyed it a lot.
Breakfast could be better, there was not so much different types of food available. A bit thin walls, we could hear very well once someone was coughing in some other room... Bearing in mind it's a castle, the windows were not so big, it was quite dark in the rooms.

Our property's architecture makes every sound echoed like in a theatre. When you are inspired by a very calm atmosphere of the forest outside the castle, it creates a sharp contrast with in-house sounds, making them seem louder than they are. It was difficult for me to comunicate with the staff because most of them speak only German. The Spa are is more on the functiona side than on the relaxing one.

Our spa complex is open for Hotel guests only, the list of services is regular for this location. At weekends when we have peak occupancy, prior reservation is recommended. Within a week we'll open Thai massage option with native Thai specialists working. Verified reviewThe feeling of staying at such a beautiful "museum", almost feels like travelling back in time. The building, halls, and rooms with all the wonderful interiors, details are helping to make you feel being away from this century for a little while.
We loved the buffet and choices of food but thinking of some of my purely vegetarian or vegan friends back home, they wouldn't have enjoyed it as much for sure.

Verified review-nice medieval style resort -friendly front desk staff -pet friendly -decent size rooms -front desk lady was very friendly -waitress in restaurant was super friendly -food was okay, not to rave about but definitely NOT as bad as stated in previous reviews. -no slippers in room but you can get them for free at the front desk -h4 mattress, which we really enjoyed. There are signs though, that if h4 is too hard for you, you can request a topper.
-booked a full body massage which was just okay. Not great not bad.... but definitely not full body since he didn't massage my arms. -spa staff did not speak English, German etc. Only Czech.so it was kinda hard to communicate. I get it, we are in their country, but especially for massage etc it would be pretty good to understand a minimum of words of the body etc. - the manekin doll in front of the restaurant is just tacky. - really slippery and icy in parking lot and lobby - parking was limited

Verified reviewThe castle looks great with all the interior in a medieval style. The food was above expectations. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner buffet a lot. The pool was a great addition to end our day. Especially for the kids. The water in the pool was 29°C (quite warm and the pool area itself was warm as well. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We also found a small play area for the kids near reception and took a table game to play in our room. We liked our stay a lot, we felt very comfy and felt like home. Great location, close to Karlovy Vary and ski resorts. Also, there is a park with stone statues to walk around.
It was our first time taking a half board option (breakfast and dinner), and we were quite surprised that drinks were not included in the dinner. So we had to buy drinks and pay extra. It would be nice if simple drinks like tea/coffee and water could be offered at dinner as part of the half board option. Slippers are not offered together with towel and robe for spa/pool area. But there is an option to buy flip flops. Not sure if they will have sizes to suit everyone, so better to take your own slippers or flip flops.

For families with small children our Hotel provides babysitter and nanny service upon request and at charge. Kid's are welcome to play with toys prepared in the special area close to the Reception. If you have Full Buffet Breakfast included rate, your choice of food is not limited, soft drinks are included, alchoholic drinks are extra. While at Buffet dinner all drinks will be charged to your room or paid upon the bill. We have a mineral water string down in our spa area that is 24/7 and free of charge. Due to safety reason we do not provide one time sleepers in our swimming pool, at our Front Desk there is a choice of flip flops of all sizes for sale. Bathrobes and big towels are in each guest room for free. You may take them to the spa area and if placed on the floor in your bathroom, they'll be replaced. The massage was DISAPPOINTING. My husband and I took massages and they divided us in separate rooms. The female massage therapist(Monika) was very very BAD. She doesn’t know how to do massage. I paid for nothing. From the other side male massage therapist(Miro) from my husband experience was super super good.
