How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNear center, bicycle space, owner didn't cancel stay because of blocked card.
First time I had issues with payment. Bank sended me a sms that it's suspicious payment. And they blocked the card. A lot of steep steps to 2nd floor. Some chair and table would be nice in the room.

Verified reviewNicely refurbished room with good double glazing to keep out the external noises. Good en-suite. Comfortable bed. I chose the breakfast option which was well presented each morning - I had the scrambled egg on toast with juice and coffee. Location is very handy - midway between the railway station and the town centre.
I did't need the AC but did not see any remote controller for it.

Verified reviewShort walk from station and main square in Kolín. Got a decent breakfast in the morning, ham and scrambled eggs, juice and coffee.
If I'd known there were no reception staff I might have looked elsewhere, but once I got in the room, it was excellent. The key safe outside has a touchscreen, which is very difficult to see in the afternoon sun. Eventually, I got the key and then discovered that none of the doors have key holes it's just for the front door. I need a keycard, back to the key safe. The next problem was none of the room doors have a number. Had to try every door until one opened. After checking in I received an email telling me the opening times for the cafe, but it was closed all afternoon and evening, I was pleased to find someone there in the morning but looked like it was closed again when I left. The first floor rooms are being refurbished, looks like the higher floors have already been done. The lack of door numbers and reduced cafe opening may be connected with the refurbishment and therefore temporary.

Verified reviewClose to the railway station which was a walking distance. Quiet overnight but see below.
We had a struggle getting the key initially as there was no one at the property so it was a case of emailing the contact on the form who then sent a code back by email - if your phone doesn't work you are snookered because no one answered the contact telephone number when we tried. Despite the booking being for bed and breakfast there was no breakfast so I'd like some money back please. There was no one from the hotel there in the morning to serve anything whatsoever and to be honest it didn't really look as if there was any intention to do so. But the biggest problem was that we were woken up at 06.40 by the builders coming into the property unannounced and who proceeded to drill holes and knock things about in the wall of the adjacent room. If you were doing a refurbishment you should not have been open to the public to take bookings. I think we were the only people staying that night and the builders looked a bit surprised when we appeared!!!

Verified reviewThe room was not as described. We booked a room with AC, but there was none and the staff did not provide a solution. They claimed it was the other rooms that had AC and they were full. We late booked the room in a hot day (30°C+) and unfortunately on the top floor the room was at 35°C during the night and stuffy. It was really uncomfortable in these conditions and simply not as described. The facilities were also not super clean and old. the towels had some holes and the shower puts out a lot of water with hard to control temperature.

Verified reviewGreat location. Nice room and comfortable bed. As we were arriving late, we were kindly given the code to the keybox to enter the hotel.
Stayed for 3 nights and saw nobody else at the hotel until checking out on the last day. This was the first time the cafe area had been unlocked and someone else was around.

Verified reviewClose to train station, very easy to do self check-in, room was large, warm and clean. As far as the room itself was concerned, all was good.
Lots of comments in the reviews here about a good breakfast...that's assuming you can actually get breakfast. Messaged hotel owner the day before asking what time breakfast would be, no response until just after 7am that morning, went down at 8 and everything was closed and locked. Owner took another 24 hours to respond, tried again, still all closed. Now that is poor service! If you want to run a hotel with minimal physical contact with your guests, then you at least make the effort to check your messages more than once a day. We didn't even meet the owner once. No soap in bathroom, so we used shower gel. Parking is really difficult, often no available space, which is unacceptable when you advertise free parking.
