How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGood location, near to the main square and offers car park for a reasonable fee.
From the moment I entered the building, there is a smell of rancid cooking oil which can be smelt in all hallways. The waiter in the restaurant is also the person who does the check in. Although her english is not very good, I was able to communicate with her for basic request. The room felt very updated, with very old and uncomfortable couches. The worst was how dirty the rooms and bathroom were and the constant smell of urine from the bathroom, even before having used it. The carpet had stains all over and the bedspreads were dirty. The kitchenet was a joke with very poor facilities and all utensils in a cupboard at floor level. The bath does not have a hook for the shower head so when trying to have a shower, you can only use one hand, and it is very dark. The towels were awful! Old and cringy, not sure if there had been properly washed as they didn´t smell clean. We never requested a service to the room but someone came to the room after the first night and made beds but nothing else was done (some used crockery was not touched), so not sure why they came in to our room . Would not recommend!!!

Verified reviewLocation is great, and the staff was helpful. They provided a map to get to the parking area.
Needs a linen refresh; there were also a couple of random hairs on the sheets of one of the beds.

Verified reviewVery spacious and clean room (family room). Comfy beds. Refrigerator, glasses/cups available. Ca 10 min walking distance from the train station/bus station. Only 5 min to the main square and close to many restaurants/bars. We enjoyed our stay very much and recommend staying at Penzion Bohemia and visiting Ceske Budejovice!

Verified reviewI like the customer service, they were nice and happy to help.
The installations of the room, you can hear when people close the doors, or arriving or you can hear when they take shower or simpply washing their hands as the water pipes are noisy.

Verified reviewWe traveled by motorcycle and stayed at this hotel – everything was absolutely perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. We especially appreciated the safe parking and the peaceful surroundings, which made for a relaxing stay after a long ride. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through the area – whether on two wheels or four!

Verified reviewThe comfort and size of the room. Location was great.
I stayed in room no. 1, just in front of the access stairs, and it was a bit noisy when other guests were moving to their rooms.

Verified reviewPerfect location in a historic center close to the main square. In walking distance is shopping center with parking lots and street with many restaurant and shops. The room was clean and had everything i need.
The hotel is located above the restaurant, so it can be noisy in the evening and the night. Also others rooms are not sound isolated enought because it is a historic building. Overall, I enjoyed the stay there.

Verified reviewNice looking, comfortable space. Plenty of room, clean. It’s not above a night club, as mentioned by other reviewers, but above a little Italian restaurant. There was no loud music during my stay. There were no bed bugs. Good location on a fairly quiet street.

Verified reviewGreat location.
There is only one heater in the room, it takes forever to heat up the room. Even so, it was only warm around the sofa area (near the heater) but relatively chill on the other side of the room. (I stayed in winter when outside was minus degrees.)

Verified reviewGreat central location on a quiet street; the building is attractive and rooms are furnished with vintage furniture, giving them charm and a unique personality. Our family room had a kitchenette, a balcony and a large bathroom.
No lift and several steps within the rooms (at least in the attic space) make it unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
