Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Trinidad and TobagoI didn’t like the stairs to head to our room. It’s very narrow and steep, quite scary!
It’s incredibly beautiful and cozy. The backyard court is surrounded by trees, flowers and lanterns that feels almost like you’re in a mini paradise

Bonaire St Eustatius and SabaLeaving. Stay was too short.
I would give an 11 if I could. This is my place to stay when on Curacao. It's what their lovely manager Dina said "you are at home now". This time I had room number 001. It is actually a 2 room appartement. It has a kitchen, a living room and a spacious bedroom in the back. Very quiet. No, it is not the typically 4 star hotel. It is boutique at its best. Small, tasteful and with very friendly staff. They have a private parking so I put my rental car there. The court place at the back, with the large trees, is the best spot for your breakfast. Small swimming pool and a porch in the front of the building from where you have a clear view at historical Punda. Which is nicely connected with a pedestrian bridge nearby. Only a 5 minutes walk to Punda and less than 10 minutes to Otrobanda or 10 minutes to Pietermaai. Wifi is perfect. So great if you want to work from the hotel.

Bonaire St Eustatius and SabaNothing.
The charm of the authentic building is unique. It’s a quiet oasis right in the middle of Willemstad. It is safe and via a small bridge you are a couple of minutes walking from Punda and Otrobanda. Ignore the silly comments that is situated in a bad area. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. A little cozy gem on Curacao. My new place to stay when on Curacao.

NetherlandsMy stay at Atelier Skalo has exceeded all of my expectations! I loved the property, which has a beautiful garden in the back where I can also read, but also the front with a pool. The staff has been incredible, positive, quick and always super helpful. From going beyond any expectations to help me, from moving rooms to helping me find a nail tech specialist on the island. This applies to any of the staff: the hotel manager, the security guard, the receptionists and the cleaning team. I would recommend this place to anyone and hope to come again in the future!

United StatesHonestly, nothing at all! There was not a single moment during our stay when we felt uncomfortable, unheard, or unsupported. The hotel and its staff truly set a new benchmark for hospitality.
Atelier Skalo Boutique Hotel – The Most Affirming and Accommodating Stay We've Ever Had Our recent trip to Curaçao was unforgettable, and one of the biggest reasons was our stay at Atelier Skalo Boutique Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed not just as guests, but as family. The warmth and kindness we experienced here were beyond anything we’ve encountered at any other hotel. This is not just a beautiful place to stay—it is a thoughtfully designed, inclusive, and truly affirming space where every guest, regardless of their unique needs, is treated with the highest level of care and respect. What did we like? Everything is amazing! From the stunning aesthetics to the unparalleled hospitality, Atelier Skalo exceeded all expectations. The architecture and design blend Curaçao’s vibrant culture with modern, boutique-style elegance. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and immaculately clean, making it feel like a luxurious yet comfortable home away from home. However, what truly made this stay special was the people. The staff, especially Deana and Carissa, were absolute gems. They were attentive, compassionate, and genuinely invested in making sure we had the best experience possible. One of the most remarkable aspects of our stay was the level of accessibility and inclusivity. My partner is blind, and traveling can often present challenges when it comes to accommodations and assistance. However, Atelier Skalo set a new standard for what it means to be welcoming and inclusive. The staff anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, offering assistance in ways that felt respectful, natural, and never intrusive. At no point did we feel like we were an inconvenience or that our needs were anything out of the ordinary. Instead, we felt valued, seen, and deeply cared for.

United StatesI tried to be equitable in my review and think of a complaint but I honestly do not have any!!
Atelier is literally a hidden gem!!!!! It is far away enough from the “action” (a 5 minute walk across the bridge) while still being close enough to experience all of Curaçao’s best features. I rented a car so that I could reach a lot of places in a short amount of time but if you are just looking to relax while still hitting many of the common attractions (Queen Emma bridge, Dushi and Curaçao signs etc.) then this is your spot. The staff from reception, to housekeeping, breakfast staff, security were all so welcoming, helpful and kind. If you choose to rent a car, parking is super accessible. It is street parking but in my 6 days there (whether I arrived at 6 am, 2pm or 9pm) I never struggled to find a spot for my vehicle. The hotel’s surrounding are super safe, as a solo female traveler who often times returned at “unsafe” hours of the night, I never ever felt unsafe. I chose this place to spend my birthday and I would do it again and again and again; they decorated my room for my birthday! The attention to detail for my entire stay was obvious. This hotel cares about their patrons, thank you Atelier for such a memorable experience!!
