The hotel is in a quiet location at 1 km from the center in front of the shell cemetery beach. The breakfast was very good with freshly prepared food and fruit.

It would have been useful if my room keys had a fob to minimise the risk of losing them. In the absence of the owners, the staff seemed a little disorganised at times but they were always cheerful and helpful.

The hotel is outdated. My room was very small. I had requested a balcony on Booking but no room had a balcony. On Booking a lot more facilities were mentioned which were not available. Booking should really correct the description of the room and facilities.

The location close by the sea is superb, even though rather far away from the center. It's a quiet place. The breakfast area is very nice and relaxing. The breakfast itself is very good and varied. The owners try to make your stay comfortable.

Location peaceful and quiet. About 15' walking to centre of Santa Maria, possible by nice walk on beach. Owners Milu and Walter and whole staff are very nice, kind and friendly !! Large clean room , comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast on terrace. Taxi airport transfert organized €20 no no no problem ! Paradise is waiting for you !!

Location is a bit far from the city center and beaches. Better to rent a vehicle or scooter.

The breakfast is fabulous. The owners, Milu and Walter are very nice and extremely warm, ready to help with anything. Staff is always helpful as well. The property is at the far end of Santa Maria it is very quiet, which is great if you enjoy a peaceful relaxing location. Nearest surf/wind spot is 2 mins (right in front of this place), nearest beach 5 mins. City center is 10-15 mins by walk.

Certain areas of the place were undergoing renovation (umbrellas, sunbeds), and there was also construction nearby. However, it was still really quiet during the night. The rooms could use some improvements, such as new furniture and functional kitchenettes. But it is an island in the middle of the ocean, so I suppose it is a part of the whole experience.

The location of this place offers a serene atmosphere. It's perfect for taking morning walks and watching the sunset. The owners and staff are very friendly and provide recommendations for great activities at better prices than what can be found online. The highlight of the stay was the delicious breakfast, consisting of fresh fruits, savory dishes like omelets and pizzas, crispy bread, jams, and desserts. The location is excellent, away from busy streets yet still conveniently close to everything.

You can notice the place itself has been hit by covid; the room and the outside relaxing space need some maintenance. However, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast is great! So I do recommend staying here!

Some of the fixtures and fittings in the room, particularly in the kitchenette, are looking a little tired - they're probably the original ones from when the place was built 28 years ago, and now overdue a refurbishment. The shower unit needs replacing. There was no tea or coffee available in the room, and reception is closed during the afternoon, but I managed to get a coffee at the Budha Beach Hotel just a few minutes walk away. Unfortunately there were issues with the Wi-Fi booster in the room not working, and there was no hot water. However I was given a very generous discount due to this, which I hadn't expected. I am confident that if I had stayed longer than one night, these issues would have been rectified very promptly, as the hosts are extremely attentive.

Residencial Cabo Verde Palace is a wonderful, quirky guesthouse tucked away in quiet corner of Santa Maria. The first thing you notice is the unusual architecture - a testament to the imagination and talent of owner Walter, who designed it himself. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and most appear to have their own private access - straight on to the beach. Both Walter and his wife Milu are excellent hosts who will take care of you during your stay. Milu prepares bespoke breakfasts for her guests, which are rightly praised in many of the reviews. I had no particular requirements, so for me she prepared a selection tray - and it was delicious. I only stayed for one night as it was a stopover between flights, but I would have been perfectly comfortable here for a longer stay. Walter and Milu also run a restaurant, bar and music venue in the middle of the town, where I had a very pleasant lunch.
