How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOnly thing I liked about the hotel was the proximity to the airport
I booked this hotel because of the proximity to Praia airport as I had a connecting flight. I was informed that the hotel offered complimentary shuttle from and to the airport so I had arranged this with them in advance. My flight into Praia was however severely delayed due to the storm on situation on the island that I was flying from. I informed the hotel about this and they responded by saying they will track my flight and ensure there is a driver waiting to meet me. My original flight was meant to arrive in Praia by 9pm however the delay meant that I did not arrive until after midnight and I was met with my worst fear, my driver was no where to be found. I was left stranded. I eventually met a total stranger who was on my flight and he offered me a ride to the hotel. Being a woman on my own and travelling in the middle of the night, my safety was not prioritised as the hotel had moved my driver on. As if this was all not enough, on arriving at the hotel, the gentleman manning the concierge could neither speak nor understand a single word of English. I also do not speak or understand Cape Verdean or Portuguese so there was a lot of back and forth about my checking in and payment. The so called driver showed up at the reception about 20minutes later and thankfully, he spoke a little English so he could be my interpreter. You will agree with me that when I say that I really felt unsafe with these two strange men in a hotel on my own. The gentleman at the concierge eventually gave me a key and took me to my room. At this point, it was around 1.30am and I had to leave to go back to the airport at 3am. The driver picked me up on time from the hotel and helped again with translation to the concierge regarding payment. The wanted €75 however they had no change as I only had €50 notes. I also had a loose €10 note so I paid €60 to the concierge and then found change at the airport to settle the remaining €15. Absolute nightmare.
First of all, thank you for your rating and comments. We would like to point out that we do not offer shuttles, but personalized transfers to ensure greater comfort for our guests. This service is clearly indicated on Booking.com, and it is clearly stated that it is charged and added directly to the invoice. Regarding your arrival, you remained at the airport, and we had to call you back upon arrival to avoid any unnecessary delays. Finally, regarding my colleagues at the hotel, allow me to clarify something: even though some of them do not speak English, they do their utmost every day to provide quality service. It is thanks to their commitment that we are able to satisfy our guests. In fact, I spoke with you in French, but it seemed that communication remained difficult. We thank you again for your stay and your feedback, which allows us to constantly improve our service.

Verified reviewPrivately-run small hotel with simple rooms but with sufficient space, comfortable beds, large bathroom with amenities, very clean, good air conditioning. Very good breakfast on the rooftop with plenty of choice, from fresh fruit to eggs, homemade cake, yogurts, etc. The rooftop also serves lunches and dinners. Quiet bar on the ground floor with good prices. The hotel is within walking distance of the center (Plateau) and the large daily market (Sucupira). Owner and staff are really attentive, helpful and very friendly. Owner arranges for tours, booking restaurants, renting a car, anything you need. Makes you feel at home!
nothing.

Verified reviewThe location, not far from the airport and the Plateau is great. The room is comfortable and nice. The members of the hotel staff are just wonderful, super friendly and very helpful. Breakfast and dinner are served on the rooftop terrace.
The hotel is situated on a busy street, so rather noisy but all goes quiet after 10 pm. The rooftop terrace, even though nice, was a bit cold and windy especially for dinner.
