If you passed by Paul you definitely have to stop here! The location is very nice, the room was clean and well decorated. The owner is very nice and kind, she helped us with the planning of our trekking. The food was also great as well as the overall atmosphere!

This place is absolutely wonderful! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming—you instantly feel like part of the family. The dinners are top-notch, with delicious, authentic meals that hit the spot after a long day. After spending hours exploring the trails, coming back here felt like a true retreat. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay—highly recommend!

If you like to shower at night, be aware there’s little water pressure and no hot water after 6pm. And if you’re sensitive to noise, I wouldn’t call this a quiet option. More on the lively side! : )

This is a real sweet place with a restaurant below and a nice staff. It’s less than ten minutes to walk into the center of Paul and really easy to catch public transport. And it’s a fun, artsy atmosphere.

Black Mamba in Paúl, Santo Antão, deserves a solid 10! The room was comfortable, beautifully decorated, and offered the soothing sound of the ocean—a perfect touch of tranquility. I loved this place! Liana is just absolutely fantastic, she really cares about the place. Her and the women that work in the hotel / kitchen are amazing! They always make you feel welcome and are so sweet. Cute cats and vegetarian food is the cherry on top! Totally recommend!

Staying at Black Mamba was such a great choice! I was traveling with my mother and sister and we absolutely had the best time there. The owner and staff are so welcoming and warm, they made us feel right at home! Also, the food is great and the location is also a plus. It is close to Vale do Paul and very easy catch the colectivos to other parts of the island. We definitely recommend staying here.

The shower is not very warm or powerful. I ended up just using the sink in the end.

Great place with a lot of character. Room overlooking the ocean. Friendly, family vibe with the staff, owners, pets and other guests. The vibe is a bit like that of a backpackers' hostel except that you get your own room. Lots of character and cool fixtures and fittings and decoration.

An absolutely must when visiting Santo Antao. Beautiful hostel, with an amazing atmosphere, and Liana, who is the owner was amazing. From the food to advise about where to go and what to do. It was a great base to go hiking in the area, and we ended up staying for 5 days. Absolutely, wholeheartedly recommend to stay here!

This is not a criticism, it's a caveat: Black Mamba is a lively place in a real local neighborhood. Expect roosters in the morning, football matches on the dusty pitch in the evenings, neighbors chatting outside and the sound of the ocean to lull you to sleep at night. It may not be the best choice for someone who's looking for a very quiet respite or absolute privacy. I wasn't -- I wanted a place with soul. It has plenty.

Everything about this place is fantastic. Liana and her staff were charming and helpful, the food was delicious, beer was cold, the facilities are great, location is close to perfect and even the cat was pretty cool. I called it home for 3 nights and would have gladly stayed longer if I could have. They also accept credit cards for a small fee (convenient and not common in CV). You can walk to town in 5 minutes. Liana will suggest excellent hikes that are not commonly known, as well as good spots to eat and drink.

Liana is such an inspiration and is passionate about giving her guests the best experience of Santo Antao. Her hotel is welcoming, quirky, characterful and very comfortable. The food is home cooked and it was a joy to have such excellent vegetarian meals during our stay. Liana gave us great advice for a trek nearby which was absolutely amazing.
