Our room seemed to be on the edge of the property and there were some dogs barking and truck noises at night/in the early morning. Our room also seemed to be filled with mosquitoes despite having screens on the windows. Perhaps there came in while the room was being cleaned. The good news is that the strong fan seemed to keep them off us while sleeping.

While we only stayed one night, the hammock and the shared kitchen and lounge area made it seem like a place that would be fun to hang out for a bit. The bed and sheets were clean and comfortable.

The best thing about the accommodation is that is walking distance from the beach. The rooms were basic but covered what we needed and the garden area offers a tranquil space to relax. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating over both of our stays.

No AC in some rooms. There was some confusion because the property says there is AC. Beds were uncomfortable.

The only thing we would recommend is an update to the foam mattresses in our particular room.

The owners and the staff (and 2 cats) here were all exceptional!!! They truly made our stay! They could provide a wealth of information for the area. We loved the tropical courtyard and hammocks for relaxing! It was an added bonus to have a small kitchen and 2 full fridges to share with the other guests, for snacks or breakfast foods (with a big market only one block away) and coffee making! Very quiet, and close to the beach for exceptional Dominical sunsets. Great walking distance to be close to all Dominical has to offer! We thoroughly loved our experience at Hotel Tropical Sands!

Very basic room with a fan but it did the job for one night. The fan was good and we didn’t need air con. It’s got a kind of hostel vibe so I’m glad we only had one night as it’s not our style of accom, but the room was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Great location, just a short walk to the centre.

We liked the hammock that gave some privacy, the green areas, the sitting area at the lobby, everything was beautiful. One of the house cats stayed the night. It was cute.

No hot water in the showers. Had to bring dirty towels to the front, which was hard to carry with luggage. Room is left open with keys in the door if arriving late, which doesn’t seem very safe. The host was young and didn’t speak Spanish, and seemed to be the only person on site, which seemed unsafe as well.

A very nice place but a little pricey. 1 fridge was old and full and the other didnt work properly. a little investment into that would have been appreciated. Price was high but we knew that before we booked.

Rooms felt quite dark and were often hotter than outside. The two fans helped. Security safe in room was non-functional. The cats are sweet, but also chase all the birds away, which is unfortunate, and they probably catch and kill a fair amount of wild life.

Lovely hosts. Garden is beautiful, especially the fragrant flowers, but perhaps could be trimmed back for a little more light and less mosquito habitat. A short walk to the beach was nice. Nice hang out area with ceiling fans to keep mosquitos away. Fun hammocks but quite a few mosquitos around them.

Very dissatisfied with inability to accept credit cards. Inconvenience in having to carry so much cash to stay at this hotel. Do not understand a business like this not accepting credit card payment. Will not stay again because of this.

Round the corner from the beach and a short walk to all the shops and restaurants. Super cosy and relaxing. Was great to have the kitchen and fridge available. You get all the info you might need when you check in, plus you can find out more from the folder at reception.
