Good location just a quick walk to the beach and the busier area of town, without being in the thick of the hustle and bustle!

Our plunge pool could use a deeper clean and softer sheets would make it extra comfy, but we loved our stay!!

    Property response:

We enjoyed having you as guests and hope you come back again. We know that leaves get blown into the private plunge pools, and we try to keep them as clean as we can. They do have a skimmer that helps, but we have found that guests return from the beaches with sand that finds its way into the pools, too. That sand goes to the bottom and we are experimenting with better vacuums to deal with this problem.

Super cute, cosy, comfy, clean hotel. The room I had was very spacious and the bathroom is such an amazing feature. It feels like you are in the Costa Rican jungle while being 5 minutes from town. Lovely staff and the pool was gorgeous. Very intimate and sweet hotel.

    Property response:

Thank you, Connie. We enjoyed having you as a guest and you have commented accurately on the positives of staying at Tamarindo Village Hotel. We hope to see you again.

didn't love the walk to town. Just lost of gravel and hills.

    Property response:

Hi, Erin. Thank you for taking the time to tell everyone how much you liked staying at Tamarindo Village. Regarding the dirt road(s) here in Tamarindo: There are fewer dirt / gravel roads and that is good. But the City has not fulfilled their duty to at least scrape the dirt roads to level them out. We complain and ask for the work to be done, they ignore us....for 11 years now. But the distance to town is 1 minute by car and 10 minutes of easy walking, really. When that is not OK, then there are taxis, and rentable golf carts. We hope you come back and that the roads will have been smoothed out by that time.

This hotel was perfect for our one night stay in Tamarindo. It was close enough to town and beaches yet far enough from the noisy nightlife revelries. Good breakfast. Remember to tip the cook and housekeeping.

The road leading up to the hotel is pretty rough.

Quiet and quaint. Convenient to beaches and shopping and restaurants! Property was in good shape and well maintained!

The bathroom was a bit warm and smelled a bit in toilet area. Pillows were uncomfortable and hard.

    Property response:

We are pleased that you liked our hotel. We would enjoy having you again as guests. We will check the pillows for comfort - please ask us for a change if you find the pillows not to your liking. We can change them for you. We are not sure about the bathroom odor, but we will check that from time to time. Otherwise, if the bathroom is warm, leaving your bathroom door open with the room air conditioner running should cool it off (closing the bathroom windows, too, will help to cool it). Thank you for your comments; they help us.

I liked that it was NOT a huge property, but the rooms were large & very clean, and the grounds are lush & tropical. The hosts Martha & Steve are so welcoming & helpful! The breakfasts are made to order and wonderful! :) Staff are friendly. I highly recommend Tamarindo Village!!

If you have people with walking impairments, you will be walking uphill from the beach at the end of a day! But honestly, our group didn’t mind; it was good to get our steps in, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool at the property.

    Property response:

The guest is correct to point out that we are on a hillside that requires some stairs be climbed for a few of our rooms. If someone in a group cannot handle stairs, we do have lower rooms, but the warning is accurate. Thank you for visiting us. We hope to have you back soon.

The Owners and staff were all very nice, good breakfasts, nice pool. Wi fi had many problems, which required new parts and technicians. The location was pretty good a short walk to downtown.

The pool we had in our suite was described as a hot tub, it was not, always had leaves in it.

    Property response:

Thanks to this guest for his comments and for staying at our hotel. We also think that our location is good, being close to downtown yet far enough away so that the noise from the center of Tamarindo does not interfere with our guests' relaxation. Our staff are naturally friendly and we are pleased to share comments with them to encourage them. The "hot tub" thing has come up before. I have searched the Booking.com online information before and not found that phrase. I searched again and found, and corrected, what this guest, and others, might have seen to mislead them. We regret any disappointments caused by an amenity listing that said "some room" had a 'heated pool. That information has been corrected. We do not have heated or warmed pools in any rooms. We will continue to review online information to remove any other mentions. Leaves in pools is a reality. We clean them; we screen them, we have skimmers to remove leaves, but the wind blows, leaves fall off the trees on and near to our property. We used to have covers for the 4 small pools serving 4 of our rooms. Maybe our decision to replace them when they wore out, needs to be re-thought. The Wifi was giving us problems as the guest mentions. The problems have been resolved, just not as timely as anyone would have wanted. The system is working today and has been. We do our best to stay on top of the problems that pop up. It frustrates us, and you, and we regret the problems.

We loved that it was located in a lush environment where we could hear plenty of birds and occasionally, the howler monkeys!

There were many levels of steps that we had to climb to get to our sweet bungalow. Also, to walk to town, we had to climb up and down a couple of steep streets.

It was within walking distance to the beach and good restaurants. It’s about 10-15 minutes from downtown on a little hit that’s not too bad. If you don’t want to walk up it, there are plenty of rentable scooters and Ubers. Both are really cheap to the hotel but walking is not too bad at all. The breakfast was delicious and has three options that change every day. Pretty much every day has options of eggs and pancakes with something that alternates. You order the meal and there’s buffet style juice, coffee, fruit, and toast. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They let us adjust plans when unprecedented rain caused several landslides that prevented us from getting to the hotel on time. The pool was amazing and kept clean. While swimming at night we saw a family of raccoons come by and it was awesome. There was lots of wildlife we were able to see from a safe distance. We never had issues with bugs or anything of the sort in our room. 10/10 stay and I would recommend to anyone going to Tamarindo. It was the best place we have stayed in Costa Rica.

Felt immersed in nature, the price was great, the breakfast was fantastic, and the on-site pets were sweet. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I liked that there was an extra blanket as it's hard for me to sleep with only a sheet. The owner and staff were very friendly as well. We only stayed one night as we were meeting friends at a larger hotel but if it was just the two of us I would have stayed here longer.

The location was a little bit of a walk from the main part of town but very manageable and made for a good night's rest since it was quieter.

    Property response:

Thank you for staying with us, Kristen. Your comments are right-on in describing our hotel and the experience we want to provide for our guests. The short walk into town or to the beach are part of the experience here. If you want to see the local monkeys, or just relax while getting easy exercise, the walking is perfect. The streets are a bit rough right now, however. That's because we have had a ton of rain and the city won't come to deal with the rough roads until the rains have moderated in November. That's too bad, but it is the way things work here. But, there are taxis galore, rentable golf carts, and other options to see Tamarindo without breaking a sweat. Please come again.
