Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe road leading to it the hotel is rough, steep and windy--about 9 km. This being said, I don't think we'd be able to be in a place with so much wildlife if it wasn't remote like this. The hotel is worth the bumpy ride! As long as you have a four wheel drive you should be fine.
Loved the nature--we were able to see a quetzal just on the hotel grounds. It is a beautiful area with its own hiking trails, a great restaurant, as well as other restaurants in walking distance. Staff were wonderful.

United KingdomThe place is beautiful without being pretentious. Is focusing the attention in all right places: excellent service, great comfort, embracing nature instead of competing with it. But the best of it, it is the staff, that makes the place very special! Their cheer and happiness is contagious. I'm truly impressed.

Costa RicaGot a sense that staff are mistrusting of guests? A couple of times security guards tried to stop us from entering to park - the first time of course made sense but after giving your place number being stopped every time doesn’t feel great. Also staff in the bar super nice but again mistrusting - is it because we are a tico couple? we waved a couple of times to see if we needed to sign anything to be charged to our room but left when they didn’t respond assuming it would just be charged to our room - they came running out quite frantic - got a sense again that there is a general sense of mistrust in the hotel which is unfortunate - as we are responsible - paying guests - especially after visiting 4 times and using all services including the spa.
All the facilities and location - this is the fourth time we visit

We loved our stay here. Everything was perfect. And the food was probably the best value for money we had in all of our 30 day trip in Costa Rica. Had really nice meals with wine at a reasonable price. Walked the trails looking for birds, comfy room, nothing negative to say at all. We booked last minute and paid a very reasonable rate for our stay.

United StatesOur room was nice, but cold. Maybe our heater was not working. I reported it to the desk and the second night the heat was much better. The breakfast was very good, but we felt the dinner was mediocre, except for the trout main course and the salad. The chicken special was not good. Strange texture to the chicken and we didn’t finish it. The prices were quite reasonable. It didn’t bother us, but the road down is best done with 4-wheel drive. The place is pretty remote with few options to buy anything. There are a few restaurants nearby to give other options for variety.
We loved the ambiance with the gardens and all the hummingbirds. It was nice to be somewhere where taking care of the environment was a top priority. Unfortunately the weather was bad every afternoon or we would have been able to explore the property more and been able to spend more time looking for birds. We found the other guests to be generally delightful and after we finished our hike the first day, Quebrado, we stopped at the Mirador. There was a local family celebrating their son’s birthday and they insisted we join in and have some cake. So nice to enjoy a Tico experience and learn about each other. Just a quiet, relaxing place to stay.

LuxembourgThis was a family trip. The rooms were cozy and well equipped. Extra blankets and heating is provided. The rooms are comfortable and surrounded by nature. It creates a great experience and you have the river sound. If you are not used to that sound it is really relaxing. The hotel has a green house where you can buy and see plants. They are lovely. The trails are very nice. Be mindful that to reach the entrance you need to walk 1.5 Km. La Quebrada is a trail that you can walk with small children. No wheel chair nor prawn/stroller. Los Pioneros is a short and flat trail. Suitable for elderly persons. We traveled with one and was the perfect walk. The food was delicious. The breakfast is a buffet with plenty of options and very tasty.

Switzerland- We booked a superior category of cabin and although it's cute and quaint, we were a bit disappointed. The cabins don't match the actual standards and would need some refurbishment.
- Little paradise nestled in a gorgeous valley. We almost wish to stay longer - The resort has it all: a restaurant, a spa, some hiking trails, tours,a garden filled with hummingbirds - The food at the restaurant is good, a lot of fresh and local options for carnivores and vegetarians
