How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

When we arrived, we noticed that our bed was wet and that there was water gathering at the ceiling. We immediately reached out to the host explaining the situation, but he only got back to us a few hours later (around 5:30 PM). His answer was that now there wasn’t any staff available anymore to help us and the only solution he offered was to move the furniture ourselves and sleep on the less wet side of the bed. Additionally, the room smelled bad (mouldy) to begin with and wasn’t clean. And yes, there is direct access to a beach, but it reminded us a waste hill than a beach. To be clear, we don’t recommend Macaw “Paradise” to anyone. We were more than glad we could leave after only one night.

Verified reviewA lot of things was good, so close to the beach, swimming was great, and the most excellent thing was the scenery, the views is so great. Great place to relax and see the amazing south Caribbean beaches.
The only thing we didnt like is the size of the cabins, it was a little small for my pleasure, but it was worthed.

Verified reviewAmazing location, clean and spacious room. Friendly staff. We saw macaw parrots in the morning ( the live there) while having coffee on the terrace. Walkable distance to the beach (1 min). Great value for the price.
Before arrival contact the property for instructions how to get the keys and code. When we arrived the main gate was closed (there is no cellular connection and no reception). We were waiting near the main gate and the staff arrived after 5 min (I believe they saw us by cameras). then it was smooth check in.

Verified reviewA little corner of relaxation after a long drive. We had a great stay and spent hours watching the scarlet macaws flying and feeding in the trees above us. The location is also perfect for breaking up the journey before heading to Manuel Antonio National Park. I highly recommend taking the time to observe the wildlife among the trees!

Verified reviewThe location is amazing here. Steps to the beach, which was my favorite part. The ocean is very gentle here, and the sunsets are beautiful. The beaches are a mix of sand and stone so I was very happy for my water shoes. I brought a floatie and floated in the water with gentle waves. There's also a nice clean pool that was quite busy but refreshing to get into. There is a shower by the pool that you can rinse off the salt water. Our room was lovely. We had a full fridge and private bathroom. The kitchen had a hot plate, coffee maker, rice cooker and microwave. Perfect for making our meals. Check-in was very simple and finding the place was also easy. The bed was king size and there was also air conditioning which was lovely. We felt very safe and secure and welcomed by the Costa Rican family that we met each day we were there. Parking was right beside our room. Very safe and secure.
My sister, the princess, thought the great quality pillows were on the hard side.😀😀😀😀

The highlight was being by the beach and seeing macaws and other birds in the tall trees on the property. Only negative was hearing truck air brakes from the nearby highway. Earplugs for light sleepers recommended.

Verified reviewVery quiet local beach fronting the property. Small fishing village right next-door. Nice sunset photos. The beach is relatively accessible at lower tides. And a bit of a glimpse into regular life in the villages.
The property entrance was extremely hard to find. Tiny bridge to cross access the property but a newer one has been built right beside it. Rooms were small and fairly basic. More like a camping weekend cottage apartment
