Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaIt would be nice to have some string for hanging your wet clothes. Since located in the forest it is very humid and the terrace rail is too thick to dry your clothes.
Amazing location right in the forest, but close to the road and walking distance to beautiful beach. The house had everything you needed. We were able to see many animals from our terrace. Amazing! Would definitely come back.

CanadaThis property is gorgeous and the staff is excellent and accommodating. The bungalow was well supplied, and just a perfect place to enjoy nature and to chill out. We kayaked to the ocean and watched sloths in the trees. I would highly recommend this property.

CanadaWe knew this when booking but not having AC was a small challenge though the fan really helped!
Excellent location! Just a few minute-walk to the best beach in the area and a few minute-drive to grocery stores and restaurants. Kayaking on the river was magical. We spotted sloths, turtles and an iguana along the way. All the staff and the owner were very nice and helpful.

United StatesA little too close to a road, but given the noises of the howler monkeys at sunrise and other animals, you'll be up early anyway.
Great location for one of the best beaches in Costa Rica and wonderful surroundings. The kayaks are also a must! Keep in-mind that this a jungle bungalow with no AC and surrounded by noises of all sorts of animals, so set your expectations accordingly (not for light sleepers). We had breakfast and dinners on the little patio outside in March, no issues with mosquitoes for us.

Costa RicaThe shower had low water pressure, but that’s common in that area so not really the property’s fault.
The property is lovely and the casita was comfortable and clean. The location was also great as we could easily walk to beautiful beaches within 15 minutes. I also enjoyed the lack of a tv so we could relax more into the jungle vibe.

United StatesMaybe a map of the area and local restaurants? No big deal though.
It was perfectly situated in the jungle yet close to the beach. If you want to wake up to the sound of birds, monkeys and nature at your doorstep then this is the place for you!

AustriaWe really enjoyed our stay a lot. We had a beautiful little house near the river, with a hot shower and a comfortable bed, also an extra living room and a little kitchen. Could see monkeys and sloths, agutis and a lot of other different wildlife from our terrace. Free water, laundry and kayaks. Everything was really clean and only 5 min walk to the beach. Helped us with everything we needed. A tuktuk to puerto viejo takes about 10 mins. Everyone was really friendly we would def come again.

United StatesI loved the simplicity and the location of the lodge. Everything environmentally proper in the midst of nature and very close to an amazing beach. In the morning I heard the gang of Howler Monkeys - just beautiful to be part of nature at Pachamama. The host Elisa was so caring and lovely - just amazing. On my day of my arrival in San Jose she guided me from the airport to that very lovely and still affordable place which I arrived at night. The next morning she came with a frog in her hand and showed my the kayaks. One hour later, I made this breathtaking small river journey to this gorgeous beach - just amazing...

Netherlandsthe photos look great, however we got a bungalow that is not depicted. The house we got was dirty (kitchen floor, appliances, bedroom hammock, bathroom) and unfortunately during our stay we only saw 1 person when we arrived. did mention it to the lady on the phone who seemed nice. All in all we were disappointed.
the location is quite nice and the garden is pretty.
