    Lovely place to stay
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Superior Family Room
    • Stayed 3 nights

The beach (biesanz) IS NOT a 15 minute walk! It is more like a 40 minute walk. We ended up driving to the nearest parking and walking down (ten minute walk from the car). We didn't go to Playatas but that would have been a similar distance

Breakfast was great. Views were amazing.

Truly spectacular sunsets and wildlife watching mornings
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • Superior Double Room
    • Stayed 4 nights

Couple downsides were the balcony door in our room was quite tough to move, that will need some maintenance as it’s somewhat broken. The curtains also don’t really block much/any light (in a room that’s 40% windows) but we just went to bed at 10am and woke up naturally at 6:30am. Also, be careful with ants, my back got destroyed while sun bathing briefly!

We booked a superior double room & it did not disappoint! The views at this hotel were spectacular (see pictures) and the wildlife was wonderful (see pictures). Every morning I’d wake up and watch the wildlife for 30-60m, basically saw everything you’d want to (monkeys, agoutis, toucans, iguanas, hummingbirds & lots of other birds). It was pricey but we were staying in peak season and after 1 night I realised how it was actually great value for money. The pool is small but ideal, the staff are incredibly friendly and booked excursions for us & the breakfast has that spectacular view! The location is a reasonable walk from Bienanz beach, which is small but nice and swim friendly, but I recommend the walk (or 380 colon bus) to Manuel Antonio beach as it’s much larger and has restaurants. It’s a short 5m walk from the supermarket and a plethora of restaurants. I strongly recommend having at least one sunset dinner at Carambola, the hotel restaurant, the views are unreal and the food is great.

We had room #5. Only room without a view. Shower never really got hot and poor pressure. Our friend had room 11. Absolutely fantastic room. Great view, hot shower etc. and we paid the same price. Get room 11. All the other rooms had nice outside areas too. I just think I booked the wrong room. Do not get room #5.

The staff is absolutely fantastic!! Jefferson and Andre plus the entire staff was amazing.

The price is inflated but that seems to be the norm for the area. My husband made a reservation at the restaurant for my birthday. When we arrived they had to get a table ready, they didn’t acknowledge my birthday so that was a disappointment.

The views, location, pool and breakfast were great.

Our only feedback would be that it would be helpful to have a safe in the room.

This is a little gem in Manuel Antonio. The view is absolutely beautiful (perfect to watch sunset), the restaurant serves the most delicious food and drinks, the rooms are cosy and the staff are truly wonderful and do everything to help you. Special shout out to Jeff, Lillian and Jorge! It’s a short walk from the beach as well as the supermarket, ATM and restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

Being right on the road, you hear and smell the traffic going by and parking/backing out onto the road is tough.

Good location for walking to the beach in one direction and to restaurants in the other. We saw howler and squirrel monkeys from our balcony and sloths across the street. It was nice having the restaurant right next door, and a great view from there. The apartment itself had everything we needed and was comfortable.

Only drawback is important though. The hotel has literally got paper-thin walls which might be stressful for some. You hear every single word from the next door rooms. If you dont care about that at all, this is an excellent choice when staying in Manuel Antonio.

Great location, friendly staff, wildlife in the garden and quiet sorroundings. Good breakfast. Boutique style hotel.

AC is very drying and made us feel unwell Outdoor furniture needs updating as it’s very battered so there’s not many nice places to sit, especially if it’s raining

The place was starting to feel a bit dated, it was in general well well-maintained and that wasn't a big deal.

Very nice property that looks very natural. Lots of animals visit the property including sloths, monkeys, and macaws. Friendly staff, welcome drinks and attention from the owner. Nice Korean BBQ

Nothing in particular. Falling mangos could hit your car depending on where your park so be mindful of that.

Location is very nice and you could see most of the wildlife that Manuel Antonio is know for right from the balcony. Breakfast was good and staff were all friendly and helpful. There’s a laundry service available that we used during our stay as well.

It could use a little maintenance, but we’ve found that true at every place we’ve stayed.

We stayed at Mango Moon 2 years ago and loved it, so we decided to detour for a night on our way to San Jose after Drake bay. No regrets, it’s a lovely property! Amazing view, animals all around (Capuchin monkeys, macaws, toucans, the sound of howler monkeys) nice little pool, great breakfast, good staff (thank you Liliana, Gustavo, and the rest - and we had the pleasure of meeting Fran, the owner, who we really enjoyed talking to.) We had the Korean Barbecue for dinner which is cooked at your table, so good! We love Mango Moon - hope to return soon 😊

Manuel Antonio - great place to stay, amazing view & wildlife
    • Leisure trip

Ear plugs might be helpful here - The hotel is not on a busy street, however there are motorbikes & trucks that travel on the road during the night and it's quite loud if you're sleeping near the window (no fault of Mango Moon). Also we were able to hear the family in the room next to us through the walls. We were glad they kept a similar schedule ;) Also, for some reason our door could only be closed with the deadbolt, which is fine for security, but an inconvenience if you have a family that is in and out and in and out of the room a lot.

Mango Moon Villa was great for our family. We were on the 3rd floor superior room and had an amazing view from the balcony: Squirrel monkey, Capuchin, scarlet macaws, Toucans & so many more birds right from our balcony. The room & bathroom was clean. Loved the ease of the breakfast - set out buffet style with options that varied day to day - & helped when we needed to make an early exit. We had a vehicle and were able to get around Quepos & Manuel Antonio easily, the location was great! Loved that they let us borrow beach towels for our beach visit! We ate at the Korean BBQ restaurant at the hotel, and also walked up to the main street for easy meals also.

Parking: tight, on small, busy road. Quite loud, even at night. Air conditioner was also loud at times (vibrated the walls in the bathroom/bedroom) Had to request a mattress to be placed on the floor in order to sleep 5 (“Superior” family room was supposed to hold 5, but had 1 king bed, a day bed with pull out bed, and that was it). Thin walls, sounded like our bathroom was right next to our neighbors bedroom 😬

Great views: saw toucans, macaws, parrots, monkeys, agouti, you can see the ocean. Pool: small but the kids enjoyed it. Breakfast: included in price, good. Fresh scrambled eggs, omelet bar, fruits, pancakes, plantains, beans and rice, granola, pancakes, fresh juice Beach access: about a 25 min walk down a hill, just past Shana by the Sea (my husband dropped us off and picked us up). There is parking along the side of the road if you are lucky.

The howler monkeys were a bit raucous at night. If you’re a light sleeper I’d recommend ear plugs.

There was some confusion over what was included in the package we had paid for regarding dinners. We were told one thing at the beginning of the week, and then towards the end it changed so we could have been having more rather than being as reserved as we had been. It was then different again when we came to checking out.

We told the hotel it was our honeymoon, so we got upgraded to a room with a balcony and a view of the sea. We watched scarlet macaws, toucans, monkeys and sloths from our balcony; it was magical. The staff were really helpful with regard to organising activities for us, and transport between them.
