Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPool could be bigger. Could do with more family friendly suites/villas.
Great setting in the midst of a rainforest. Nature walk with hanging bridge for free on hotel grounds. Quiet and secluded setting with different buildings spaced out across the property.

United States"I had the pleasure of celebrating my wife’s birthday at this hotel, and the staff went above and beyond to make her day truly special. The service was warm and thoughtful, and the restaurant's food was flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with love. A beautiful experience we’ll always remember!"

NetherlandsFood and drinks are expensive compared to other places we’ve been in Costa Rica. The rooms are a bit noisy. We heard the children shouting and jumping up and down in the room above us.
Everything looks nice and it’s clean. Staff is friendly and the view is spectacular!

United Statesnothing. Maybe add a hammock on the balconies?
Amazing location and view of the volcano from our balcony and room. The giant outdoor tub with jets was nice in lieu of a hottub at the pool and loved by the kids. There was plenty of space in the room for the 5 of us with 2 large beds and the mini kitchenette. Short walk to breakfast and the pool. Nice umbrellas provided. The included breakfast was wonderful with the egg/omelet bar daily. We loved the family (20+) coati that lived on the grounds and made many appearances. We also saw a wild boar, toucans and other birds, lizards on the premise. The trails with bridges (accessible from the hotel, not the separate Hanging Bridges) was wonderful to explore and walk to from our hotel room. Swim up pool bar with smoothies was fun for the kids too! Large porch balcony with rocking chairs was very relaxing.

United StatesEverything was amazing sometimes the heated pool was a little cold but no complaints!!!!!
The staff were amazing. The locals here are so kind it’s a very safe country. They have so many activities nearby with provided transport. The activities may be a little expensive but transport and sometimes a snack is always given. It’s a nonsmoking facility but they do have spots where you can smoke if needed. Each activity has a guide that will help you with everything. They are very professional, punctual and organized

United KingdomThe hotel does feel somewhat dated, much concrete construction, including light stands. Would appreciate a mattress on the pool loungers, they were also not cleared of water and leaves in the gaps. The room layout is poor and does not flow. Whilst the wooden decorative furniture and ornaments are pleasing to the eye, it's central position means the chair to the left has no lighting and to the right the TV obscures the lovely jungle picture. Some wall mounted furniture is askew and one more bed side table would be appreciated.
Lovely location with beautiful views o Arenal Volcano. Breakfast buffet had good variety of options, excellent omelette station. Relaxing pool area after a steamy morning of wildlife searching. Two lovely leather, locally made rocking chairs on the balcony.

United StatesA little bummed about the condition of the lower pool (missing tons of tiles, scratched up our feet a bit) but otherwise everything else was great.
The property is beautiful. We love coming to this resort. The staff were so kind and accommodating and interacted so nicely with our children. Highly recommend the night frog tour on the resort! It was excellent

United StatesWe loved the lost iguana resort! The view from our room was insane! We loved waking up early to drink coffee and listen to the distant howler monkeys on the balcony. We loved the trail around the property. We saw lots of toucans! We also loved the pools! Perfect oasis in the jungle.

United KingdomThe price of the dinner menu, was super expensive but the food was fab but we just weren’t expecting that price. Because you’re 15/20 mins away from town it’s like is it worth paying for a taxi to go into town or is it worth paying for the hotel dinner food?
The property was so unreal! We loved this. Waking up to the volcano view in the morning was honestly breathtaking. The pools, one being warm and one being cool was such a good touch! Also as the property is pretty much on a hill, the idea they have of having a buggy service to you can call to take you to and from your hotel room was perfect as the hills are rather steep!

United StatesThe staff were excellent! They were friendly and knowledgeable. They offered an extra single bed for our family of 5, which gave us three beds. The room was beautiful with a view of the volcano from the balcony. The pool bartender was also friendly and attentive. The hotel is very family friendly and the buffet breakfast was delicious. We will definitely stay again if we travel back to that area. We also loved the hot and cold pools. It was a fun way to end our evenings, including a swim up bar!

United StatesFar out from many restaurants and activities in the city (which also probably made for better wildlife sightings). And the food (particularly at the pool bar) was just okay without a lot of options.
