How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Verified reviewThe place is close to downtown, up a backstreet. Close to everything, but quiet and private. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. The introduction card in the rooms was a nice touch. The showers were hot and the towels were luxurious.

It's easy to walk to town and yet far enough away that it is quiet at night. I would definitely stay here again. I also liked the coffee machine and refrigerator in the room.

Verified reviewBreakfast is a well rounded traditional Costa Rican meal. The property is beautiful with many flowering plants around. Pável is the hotel manager and he is very quick to reply to any questions and he’s great at suggesting restaurants in the area. It is only a 10 minute walk to the beach and it’s close to multiple grocery stores. The rooms are modern and very clean.

Big shoutout to Pavel, the hotel manager because he went above and beyond to make sure we felt taken care of. Verified reviewFirst time in Costa Rica and this is definitely the best hotel, the breakfast is awesome which is cooked for you in the morning and you have a choice of what to eat, it was definitely enough for half a day 😉. It has a mini gym with air conditioning. I stayed in a brand new hotel with a very large bathroom and the most beautiful sunrise and sunset views! The bed and linens are all wonderful. This is definitely the best place in Tamarindo, very quiet and cozy, I felt like family! I will definitely come back here again.

Verified reviewBreakfast was great. Location was perfect. Far enough from the center of town so it’s very peaceful and quiet. And at the same time very close to the center. A perfect location.
The bathroom door doesn’t give enough privacy in the bathroom. Also it would have been nice to have some sort of separation between the twin bed and the beds across from the tv. Price ways it was a bit too expensive.

Verified reviewI LOVE staying here. I have stayed here before and booked it again for this trip!! It is quiet, which is important in Tamarindo. The walk to the beach is easy and I would do it every morning. It's also easy to get to the stores, grocery and restaurants . I even walked home at night with no problems. This time I stayed in a new room which was LARGE, comfortable incredibly clean and very quiet. the other rooms are also quite large, fun outdoor showers and very clean. My favorite part of staying at La Ramona is it's small, but still private. And the owners treat you like family. There's breakfast every morning, which they make for you!! They have a guard at night and locked gate, even though it feels very safe in this area. They have also added little gym which is perfect to keep up a workout routine if you want to. The location really can't be beat and is really one of the best places for the money.
